  • 4'9" here; I have a kitchen stool that I have to drag out almost every day! I used to climb the counters, but now that I'm 60, I'm thinking it's not worth the risk. I also have the same problems at the grocery store. If I can use something else to knock the item down, I do; otherwise I ask someone else to help me! The best…
  • My doctor has told me not to worry about it.
  • Hi; I'm 4'9"; I don't have any pictures, but last year at this time I was 184 and now I'm 156! I am following the Petite Advantage Diet, a book written by Jim Karas. It is the only thing that has worked for me in a very long time. I want to lose more weight, and for many reasons, have not really progressed in the last few…
  • I was born and grew up in Fall River too!!! Live in Rehoboth now, but many family and friends, plus work, in Fall River!
  • My husband & I were at the Boston Marathon today; we were about a block from the site of the explosions! We are fine; we ran from the site, then made our way out of the city. It was very sad & surreal; we are haunted by the images of the scared and crying children that we saw in the aftermath. Yet another happy event is…
  • I am 4'9", and 59 years old. I started at 184, and currently am 156; my goal is 135. I am fighting for every pound! I am so much better off than I was a year ago, but I would like to lose the rest. Right now the pounds are not coming off, but I haven't given up yet! :grumble:
  • I don't mind being short, but 4'9" is a bit extreme!!! Clothes don't fit right, exercise machines don't fit right, even furniture doesn't fit right! I'm always "cute", never "sophisticated." It takes a lot for me to lose weight. But on the other hand, I have a body that is healthy and becoming more fit. But if I could only…
  • Love Trader Joe's! My food list is loaded with stuff from there! My favorites: Almond butter (a staple for me!) Cinnamon roll bread (a staple for my husband) Frozen crab cakes Frozen turkey burgers Their whole wheat pasta PB Cups (only occasionally) Pita Bites crackers I could go on and on, but these are the most purchased!
  • My height and starting weight are very similar to yours, except that I'm 59 years old! I've lost 27 pounds. I could see a difference by 10 pounds, but I still have the belly. I have lost a lot through the hip area, but not as much through the belly, so pants are still hard to fit. I agree with the person who suggested…
  • I am 4'9", and 59 years old. I am eating 1100 during the week, and more on weekends. I am losing 0.5 - 1.0 pounds per week. That's still not very fast, but if I eat more, I don't seem to lose anything. My doctor knows about this, and approves as long as I don't feel weak or shaky, which I never do. I have been on this plan…
  • I hope my feet don't shrink; I'm already a ladies' size 4.5! If my feet get any smaller I'm in big trouble! :frown:
  • The last book in the Harry Potter series! The books have answered a lot of questions that I had from the movies. Love the LOTR series too!
  • I normally do some lean meat, chicken, or fish, with a veggie and a small amount of rice or sweet potato. But sometimes I do salad and a small serving of pasta and sauce with chicken sausage or meatballs. Or you can do a stir fry with shrimp or chicken with tons of veggies and a little rice. It's surprising how much you…
  • Hi; I'm 59 years old, 4'9" and I am doing the Petite Advantage Diet. It is a book by Jim Karas, and is designed especially for us shorties! The diet is 1100 calories for two days, then 1600 on the third. I have lost 27 pounds in a little less than a year. That includes being off-plan for vacations, etc. That may seem…
  • Be careful how you phrase things. I am 4'9" and according to MFP, my BMR is 1195. I lose about a pound a week on 1100 calories 5 days a week, more on weekends. I eat plenty of food as long as I choose well, and when I go up to 1200-1300 I don't lose. I exercise, several days a week with TRX straps, and am not wasting away…
  • Awesome! Congratulations! :flowerforyou:
  • We were married in '75 too! Wouldn't trade him for anything!
  • I really hate the taste of protein powder. Just yesterday I tried a product called Any Whey, which is formulated to be tasteless and to blend well into food. In yogurt I can tell something is added, but it doesn't taste like whey. In almond butter I can't even tell it's there. The label says you can add it to sauces, baked…
  • I do TRX 3 times a week and walk on as many other days as possible. This has worked well for me. The TRX workouts are hard, but they work.
  • After Homer is told there is a 7 day waiting period to get a gun: "7 days??? But I'm mad now!!!!"
  • From the episode with Flanders' parents: "I've tried nothing and don't know what else to do!"
  • In regard to the site people are recommending to figure out TDEE, etc: I just went to this site out of curiosity, since I am pretty satisfied with what I am doing. First problem: the height calculator doesn't go below 5 feet; I am 4'9"; that's enough to make a substantial difference in calculations! I figured it out using…
  • It probably is Rosacea. You should see a dermatologist, because progresses if it is not treated. The damage and redness can get worse & worse. I left mine untreated for several years, and had lots of veins and bright redness showing on my face. I ended up doing laser treatments to lessen the look of the damage. Treatment…
  • To get back on track and lose the rest of the weight! (It's been tough since Thanksgiving!) To decide whether or not to pursue more pottery classes. To decide whether or not to continue learning piano.
  • Almond Butter! Mochi (chocolate)! Frozen mashed sweet potato (it's little puck-like shapes, and you can heat as many as you need)! Grilled chicken strips (better than the ones at Stop & Shop)! Beans so Green! Butternut squash risotto! Frozen turkey burgers! I could go on and on; I use a lot of the above to make up a quick…
  • Well said; I am extensively trained to teach, not to face armed gunmen! It would only make a terrible situation worse.
  • Haven't seen Castle, but I LOVE Firefly!
  • I work out at home with a set of TRX straps and 100 lb. resistance bands just to do some extra in the waist. I have built a lot of muscle, decreased body fat, and really lost a lot of inches. There are always more challenging moves to do with the TRX, so I'm not worried about it becoming too easy for me!
  • Take a good look at those nice clothes you're wearing after losing the weight you have already lost. Think about what you're going to wear when you reach your goal. I struggle every day to stay on track; I give in a little on the weekends. But when I look at those new jeans that are JUST fitting now, and remember the old…
  • I have a set of TRX straps and resistance bands in my basement. The workout takes me about 30 min., and has produced really good results! I try to walk on other days.
