  • Loved the movie. I too had a good laugh at the medication discussion scenes. Those always crack me up. Thinking to myself that I've either at one point or another in my treatment tried them personally or heard about them.
  • Ranch dressing is the one instance where I don't do FF or Light. I buy the regular version,, and just use less. Look at the labels closely, You may lose calories/fat in the Light/FF versions, but they also add more sugar and/or sodium to them. My trick is one of two things: For dipping with veggies, I mix the dry ranch…
  • That does look good, thanks for sharing. Always looking for new crock pot recipes. I may even try adding some snow peas, pineapple chunks, and chopped red pepper toward the last 30-45 minutes of cooking to expand on the 'sweet and sour' chicken theme.
  • I had a complete hysterectomy/oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) back in 2008, just a few months after my 30th birthday. I tried to go without any HRT because I was worried about weight gain, and other risks. Then the hot flashes hit, mood swings, etc. Plus the cravings the OP was talking about. I could only describe them…
  • I am newly diagnosed with Fibro (as of May of this year), but have experienced chronic pain for ages. Since I already take medications for depression, anxiety, migraine, thyroid, and menopause on a daily basis, my doc didn't want to add to that list if it could be helped. So other than Tramadol as needed when the pain…
  • I joined a gym with a heated pool, and try to swim laps whenever possible. On days when my pain levels are higher than others, I do simple water jog, or just walk the lanes back and forth. As a bonus, the area where the pool is also has a whirlpool, which is nice. I also seem to do okay using the stationary bike or the…
  • We currently have two: A border collie mix named Lady, and a Black Lab/Rottweiler mix named Jewel. Dogs that are no longer with us but still missed and thought of with love and fondness are a Yellow lab mix named Sandie, a Boxer mix named Honey, and a mix breed named Mindy (my first dog). Congrats on the new (furry)…
  • Wow! You look great, congratulations on an amazing weight loss so far! Thank you for sharing your pictures, they are quite the inspiration.. I have been on MFP for about 65 days now, start weight was 295, current weight is 277. My goal is to get to be around 160. However, I am shorter than you, only 5'3". But seeing that…
  • I have a scar on my knee from when I fell as a kid and scraped it. numerous scars on the abdomen area from surgeries (appendix, gallbladder, ovarian cysts, hysterectomy). And while they aren't scar's from injuries per se, I do have several markings on my body from NF1 that often raise a lot of questions from people. I hope…
  • Congratulations on your journey thus far! You are doing so well, and are truly an inspiration. Keep up the great work! Thank you for sharing!
  • I love tea!! hot, iced.. you name it.. though usually a fan of iced in spring and summer months. Which one I like depends on my mood.. though I am a big fan of the Lipton Honey Lemon when I'm not feeling well, its just so soothing. Chamomile is always a favorite as well. For more of a 'brighter' taste, I like the Green…
  • I too absolutely love Hidden Valley Ranch... I have tried the light and low fat versions, but also noticed those carry more sugar and sodium content than the Original, so for me, the extra calories and fat seem like an okay trade. I have tried using the dressing mix and making my own using low fat mayo and skim milk, and…
  • Another PA girl here! Live in the boonies about 15-20 minutes from Pittsburgh Airport.
  • let me see... over the years I have seen lots of things that made me wish I was anywhere but next to these folks on the road. my favorites would have to be * someone driving while holding a cigarette, drinking coffee, and talking on the phone. (assuming driving with knees as all hands were in use) * someone doing the…
  • So far, I've lost the equivalent of an average housecat. On my way to the ultimate goal of somewhere between a newborn giraffe and the Oxford English Dictionary. This is some awesome perspective! :D
  • One of the reasons I am so heavy (besides poor diet habits) is my health, and a contributing factor to that is that I have been on anti-depressants (SSRI's) of one form or another since 1998. Prozac, Celexa, Serzone, Zoloft., (currently on Lexapro). Also had to deal with other meds for mood disorders at one point, like…
  • I too was craving pizza today.. so decided to try my own version. I used Sandwich Flats as my 'crust'. (One whole sandwich flat is 100 calories). Made one for lunch with classic pizza sauce, reduced fat mozz, and turkey pepperoni. The second one I made for dinner I got more creative. I used ranch dressing (1 Tbsp, diced…
  • Swimming. Because given my higher weight, the water works with me, giving an awesome calorie burn. Plus it just makes me feel better.. I've been trying to go at least 4 days out of the week, if not more.
  • I have had tons of health issues, and have been battling chronic pain and fatigue for the better part of a year now. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in a few weeks to see if it could be Fibro. So far, I've found that swimming is the one thing that seems to be a good workout. It seems to boost my mood, and while…
  • Like others have mentioned, it could be withdrawal from the caffeine and sugar, that would cause headaches. Another question I think of is, what type of diet are you following? If you started something along the lines of a south beach, or anything that restricts carbs, that could also explain the headaches/stomachaches. I…
  • Cheese (started just using it sparingly, and reduced fat versions), Pizza (I try to fill up on salad before I eat this, then limit myself to 2 slices). And like a majority of folks here, chocolate. I've found that hot cocoa does pretty well at fixing the craving, without all the guilt of eating actual chocolate.
  • I need to lose more than 50, for sure. Would welcome others in the same situation for advice, support, motivation etc. Anyone here feel free to add me as a friend, we can all help each other. :)
  • Work out at LA Fitness. I could probably have gotten a better deal on a membership somewhere else, but this one is located right next door to where I drop my sweetie off at work every day. He and I go to LA Fitness at least 4 nights a week together to work out, plus they have a pool. For me its worth the extra $ to know…
  • I make my own breakfast sandwich: two strips turkey bacon, 1 scrambled egg, tomato, and low-fat white cheddar on whole grain bread. (My favorite bread is from Panera, and 1 slice makes a decent sandwich by cutting it in half). If you are in a rush in the mornings, pre-cooked turkey bacon and cooking the egg in the…
