Almost every food has protein. Some foods have more than others, but seeking out, and giving preference to, foods higher in protein is not necessary. There is no need to eat any specific food for protein.

You are setting yourself up for failure if you don't get enough of the calorie rich foods per day. If you go plant-based, you need to eat plenty of either fruits, or starches. 3 pieces a day of fruit, and spuds up to twice a week, might not be enough calories.

There is a vegan group that will give you more support than the main boards. I eat a high carbohydrate, high fruit diet, and it is awesome. Try it for yourself and see if it works for you.

Mostly raw with occasional potatoes, rice or beans, and occasional veggie soups. Mostly in the winter.

I don't think the MFP crowd cares about anything that happens if it's not on a TV show.

I was just about to say the same thing. I highly recommend the book 80/10/10 Diet by Doug Graham!! You can find it online for free, if you don't want to buy it.

Well, yea, everybody knows that.

If your strength is improving, and you are losing weight somewhere, than you are making progress. Patience.

Running is certainly cheaper, but cycling can be sustained over a longer period of time. Check out an organized ride, like my personal favorite, RAGBRAI. That makes cycling a whole lot of fun.

You are not alone. I have one tray of stuff that i started in a window 2 months early, like matoes, celery, collards, etc, and i also will start another one this week (one month before planting day) I hope to afford a lean to greenhouse within a few years. I have a flat wall facing south that would be perfect. Once i get…

Live by fruits and vegetables, because of the anti-oxidants, micro-nutrients, minerals, essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, phyto-chemicals, etc. They just make me feel energized, and help my body heal. What i avoid, animal products (ethical, health, humanitarian and environmental reasons) isolated nutrients,…

I didn't figure strokingdiction for a gardener! I just moved, so my garden wont be meeting it's full potential this year. I'll probably only use 1/4 of the gardening space that i eventually plan to use. I'll definitely be planting the basic this year: Various cucumbers Various tomatoes Various kales Rainbow chard Various…

You're probably just best off getting a second opinion from another doctor.

I admit it's not a very reputable source, but the Mayonnaise Clinic recommends eating low fat after a gallbladder removal. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-blog/gallbladder-removal-diet/bgp-20056135 but i have also heard many people with a removed gallbladder mention that their…

The best foods have no recipes. Peel and eat, or chop and eat. Fruit makes the best breakfast. A big salad full of green leafy vegetables should be eaten at least once a day. Other good foods are veggie soups, steamed veggies, roasted veggies, rice and bean based dishes, etc, and those recipes can all be found online.…

All potential ratios aside, people who eat more fruits and vegetables tend to live longer. My experience has been that, when i'm eating more fruits and vegetables, i feel more energized. I am far from the only one who reports, that, too. That being said, i think often times people worry about ratios, to the detriment of…

If you have diabetes, and you've had your gallbladder removed, you need to eat a LOW FAT diet, not a low carb one! If you are getting the fat out of your diet, you still need calories to live. Carbohydrates are your fuel. Google "intramyocellular lipid"

A raw high carbohydrate, low fat raw vegan diet is about the best you can do. I eat a mostly raw diet. Things i noticed: Increased stamina, faster cycling speed, I feel happier, Better cognitive ability, rock hard, uh, let's just say "pianist", increased libido, stronger fingernails, symptoms of various diseases went away,…

I didn't say that. Re-read what i said. Anyway, back to the ignore list with you. Not sure why i even took you off...

If muscle came from food, you would see big built guys with "Gold's Kitchen" T-shirts. Large muscles comes from a specific type of workout program, which i don't engage in. I do engage in 2 sports at the moment, and those are running, and cycling. I have seen gains in both. Can you tell my gains from one picture that is 2…

I'm a no BS type of guy. Feel free to friend me. If you want to hear what you need to hear, and not what you want to hear, check out a book called "The Pleasure Trap" by Dr. Alan Goldhamer and Dr. Doug Lisle. That was my favorite book so far in my quest for better health.

Dairy is a high fat food. It could be the fat that was holding you back.

The question was "Can you have too much sugar from fruit?" and the answer is yes, if you blend it. When you blend fruit, you change the structure of the fiber, allowing you to eat more before you get satiated. I'm not saying i never blend, or that blending is "evil". MrM27 said that, not me.

Except fruit. And vegetables.

I go over my sugar halfway through breakfast. As long as it's from fruit, it's no big deal. Going over MFP's fat rec is a lot of fat! That would be the one to reduce. Remember, fat is 9 calories per gram, and carbs are only 4 calories per gram. It's way too easy to overeat when you eat a high fat diet, because fat is so…

Ya had me with the first sentence. The second sentence was inflammatory. Not everybody out here in the midwest is still stuck on the butter and steak thing. Plenty of good produce available for those who seek it out. And our soil is top notch! My garden grows itself.

Lentils, quinoa, greens, oatmeal, beans, seeds, nuts.
