  • Vegans, cyclists, distance runners and those into calisthenics, feel free to add me!
  • I do best when i eat little to no processed food. No oil or sugar. A day usually includes a lot of fruit, plenty of green leafy vegetables, and beans. I love a homemade veggie soup and almost always have a pot on hand. I also like homemade sauerkraut and usually have at least a jar on hand.
  • When eating whole foods, like beans, you will absorb less calories than you will eating ground up foods, like flour or sugar. Some will pass right through you. I wouldn't worry too much about going over on calories if you are getting the results you want. I personally have no problem building muscle and strength while…
  • You are best of getting your protein from whole food sources, such as beans and greens.

  • If you want fruit, eat fruit. Any time of the day that you want it, eat it. There is nothing wrong with fruit. As to why people think it is bad, i believe most who say that are scared of the sugar. Fruit sugars come in a great package, along with fiber, vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and water. It's a lot more…
  • If i don't make it myself, i get Jamba Juice Amazing Greens. When i make my own, i use bananas, strawberries, a few frozen cherries, a small amount of cashews, some flax seeds, and homemade almond milk. It's the best.
  • Try doing it right next time. So many people say they tried it, and then you find out they were not eating whole foods, or trying to do it low carb, or eating too much fat, or something. Nobody who does it right goes back.
  • Fruits and vegetables are low calorie density, and high in fiber, water and micro-nutrients. They should be logged, as they do have calories, but there is certainly a lot of value in keeping them in your diet. They are also very satisfying, given the high fiber, water and nutrient content.
  • Holy cow!!! 39% of your calories from protein!? As has been said several times, i would not listen to a personal trainer about nutrition. That's like asking your dentist to fix your car.....
  • Eating low calorie density foods, such as fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains.

  • This! Fruit has enough sugar to help with the cravings, and it's bulky enough, and low calorie enough to satisfy your hunger, while not adding a lot of calories.
  • Awesome! Keep it up. Cycling distance is the best fat burner!
  • Exactly. Plus, greens, along with the calcium, have many vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, anti-oxidants and fiber. Cheese, along with the calcium, has large amounts of saturated fat, salt and casein. The greens are a better package.
  • You are best off adding calcium to your diet through greens, not cheese.
  • It's very hard to overeat calories on a WHOLE foods, plant based diet, given the caloric density of unprocessed plants. If you are eating fake meats, i would encourage you to remember the word WHOLE in WFPB diet. It's very, very easy to slip in extra calories if you are having things like oil and sugar in your diet, as…
  • You obviously missed the point of why the producers did that.
  • I'm into facts; that's why i like them.
  • I watched the magic pill last night after seeing this thread. I happen to agree with a few of the suggestions, such as getting rid of oils, dairy and sugar, and getting back to more of what we would find in nature. They also seem to draw a bunch of funky conclusions from the info. They spoke about flying over the US and…
  • All great movies.
  • I eat whole foods plant based. Most people will never know how amazing it is!!!
  • There is only one diet that has been proven to reverse heart disease, and it happens to be low fat with no processed food, AND helps you maintain a healthy gut flora. You need to check into a whole foods, plant based diet, such as what is recommended by Dr. Dean Ornish or Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.
  • Whoa, that's dangerous. There is no problem with getting a second opinion from a second doctor. But be careful when looking for a doctor: remember, "patient" is a euphemism for "customer", and business likes repeat customers.
  • 128 grams of protein? What's your calorie goal? That's over 500 calories of protein a day. On a 2,000 calorie diet, that would be a quarter of your daily calories coming from protein! Way too much!!!
  • Low by who's standards? People have been convinced that they need a lot more protein than they actually do. Just curious, by percentage of calories, how much you actually get?
  • Honestly, sounds like a liver issue. Like was previously posted, go see a doctor and mention these specific symptoms.
  • The issue when removing fat from a lot of these products, particularly dairy, is not just the sugar increase, but the protein increase. When you remove fat, and increase dairy protein, you are putting yourself at a higher risk for various diseases, including cancer and kidney problems.
  • Vegan diets are loaded with fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are generally accepted as the healthiest foods there are. It's pretty easy when you think about it. Agree with a previous poster to check out Forks Over Knives and The China Study.
  • By blending up your food, you are not properly feeding some of your gut bacteria. Some smoothies are OK, but i wouldn't eat them twice a day, 5 days a week. You need to chew your food.
  • Avoid high protein foods, especially before bed. You can also put something under the legs at the head of your bed, giving it a slight angle, to keep the acid from creeping up the esophagus while sleeping.
  • Worrying about protein is not important because if you are getting enough calories from whole unprocessed plant foods, you are getting enough protein. I hope you are no longer confused.
