Absolutely not!! Obviously, restrict refined sugar, but never restrict fruit. The settings in MFP are adjustable; set them to what's right for you.

Your muscles run on glucose. Your brain runs on glucose. Fruits and vegetables are mostly carbs, and are generally accepted as the healthiest foods you can get. You have a sweet tooth for a reason!!! Eat whole foods, such as fruit, when you are craving sugar.

I have one on my distance bike. It it nothing for me to ride 50-70 miles on my days off just for fun. I highly recommend that saddle!

I have had no problem building muscle and increasing fitness, because a low processed, mostly plants diet, like i eat, has plenty of protein to rebuild muscle, as well as the fuel needed to get the job done. There is a lot more to the picture than just protein. The way i eat is optimal for me. (and everyone else who tries…

I eat a vegan diet and never, ever worry about protein. Americans have been sold a bill of goods when it comes to protein. Just eat food, get your greens and beans in, and you will never have a problem. When was the last time you ran into someone with kwashiorkor?

How's your sodium intake? Often times, that is the culprit when it comes to bloating.

My favorite go to dinner is steamed potatoes, smashed and mixed with steamed mixed vegetables and baked beans. I love black beans cooked in veggie broth, with a hot pepper or two, and some rice, over a bed of greens. Favorite breakfast is steel cut oats with some nuts and fruit. Mid afternoon snack, nothing beats plain…

Personally, i love adding fruit to my oatmeal in the morning. Right now is stone fruit season in the US, have you tried eating fresh ripe peaches or nectarines? That is some good stuff. Most people seem to like mangoes, pineapples, kiwi, and other tropical fruit. Don't forget the low sugar fruits like cucumbers and bell…

Personally, the only thing that has ever worked long term, and i have tried it all, is eating a whole foods plant based diet. I had to cut certain foods entirely, such as dairy, but that is a personal decision. What works for me might not be right for you. You don't have to be perfect, but remember what Michael Pollan…

My life and health has improved drastically since i cut dairy. You'd be surprised how many conditions are caused by dairy.

The problem with a raw diet is that it is highly restrictive and hard to stick to. Health wise, it is one of the best things you can do, as long as you are doing it right. But most people don't stick to it. I've known a lot more people who have had long term success including cooked foods, such as a McDougall style starch…

Eat low calorie density foods. Vegetables, fruits, etc. Avoid high calorie density foods. Cheese, oil, etc.

If you want to detox, just give your body what it needs to do that job. Water, fiber, anti-oxidants, sleep, exercise, etc. It shouldn't be a temporary thing, though, you always need that stuff.
-
Sounds like you need more food, not necessarily more protein. Are you eating lunch?

Mt. Everest is so high, at that altitude, you will die of exposure, cold, cerebral edema, pulmonary edema, or a fall, long before you would ever starve. Not a single death in Everest's history is attributed to starvation. So, no, i would not resort to cannibalism. Any time or energy wasted cutting up a body is energy you…

I've had my Squatty Potty for 2 years. I'd highly recommend it.
-
Twice a day. I couldn't imagine not going every day. High fiber diet and a squatty potty ftw!

Anything from the produce section basically, especially fruit, plus beans and whole intact grains. Nothing wrong with regular potatoes, btw. They are a whole food, have plenty of fiber, and have been a food that has sustained civilizations.

Check into Dr. John McDougall's recommended diet. Very inexpensive food, very satisfying and very delicious. I have lost about 85 LBS so far and never felt like i was missing anything.

Veggie soup, any rice and bean dish, fruit, taters and veggie, the possibilities are endless. I have no recipes as i don't use them. I just take what i have in stock and make it delicious.

Totally agree about the importance of gut health. I used to have IBS pretty bad when i was younger, and then constipation later in my 30's. I fixed it by simply eating better. As a cyclist, it is so much nicer to be able to bring my knees to my chest without discomfort. I can take a much more aggressive position on the…

I'm from Winchestertonfieldville, IA. Oh, i mean Northern IL. Sorry, not sure how i got those confused.

There are very well funded industries that would prefer to sway public opinions towards consuming what they sell. They spend millions (billions?) on print advertisement, TV ads, internet ads, product placement in shows and movies, industry funded studies and, of course, lobbyists. Would it really be that big of a surprise…

I would avoid dairy if you are looking to reduce risk of diabetes. That being said, there are plenty of plant based milks, not just soy, if you wanted to try out other options. I usually go with almond, just a taste preference.

I cut all oil out of my diet and haven't ever felt better.

The truth is the truth, and everyone needs to make a living. If someone makes money by telling the truth, i appreciate that. They could just as easily open a fast food franchise if their only motivation is money. But if you are worried about money influencing info, check into one of the Doctors featured in the film, Dr.…

The best foods for you are high carbohydrate foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. Are you trying to reduce refined carbs, such as sugar or flour? Or total carbs, such as reducing whole foods that are high in carbs? If the former, i'd would try substituting what you are eating now, for a whole food…

Personally, i thought it brought some important info into the mainstream, which i am thankful for. Those who make money off your poor health, and those who make money off of selling you crap food, certainly didn't like the message, and i think that is why there has been such a backlash against it. I highly recommend the…

It never hurts to get a second opinion from another Doctor.

Currently, i eat a whole foods, plant based diet, with plenty of starch, raw fruit and greens. It's the best way to eat that i have tried and my body thanks me every day. Every year of my life up until i was 31, my health deteriorated a little bit. I just considered it to be aging, something natural that i couldn't do…
