  • Olive Garden also has a low fat/fat free dressing - I think it's just low fat. it taste great too. Ask for it on the side. If everyone else wants the regular then they can get theirs on the side too. Be careful with the Guiltless menu at Chili's, I still think there is a lot of crap in there. I agree, you can really go…
  • I rarely drink soda but if I do I like some Diet Mtn Dew. I'm going to pay attention to these things and see if I experience the same. It would not surprise me at all!!! I'll keep you posted!
  • I agree with previous poster. If it calculates those things and you have a chest strap then it should be pretty reliable. Mine also has my max heartrate and my resting heartrate which I think is pretty important. Be careful of HRM's that don't have a chest strap. They tend to over estimate the calorie burn. In my opinion…
  • Jenny - You've heard this before...I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! The feeling is amazing and your pictures definitely show all your hard work. You look amazing!!! I'm so happy it went well for you! I knew you could do it! YOU'RE A ROCK STAR!!!
  • I agree, it may be your IT band. The first time I had IT band problems I freaked out. Thought it was my knee. I had never had knee problems before so I was so discouraged. Well come to find out it was my IT band. An IT band injury can feel like knee pain b/c of where the IT band attaches. Try what the earlier poster…
  • Just found this thread and thought I would join in. I just did the Marine Corp marathon on October 25th and after a weeks rest I'm ready to jump back in. I started my next 13 week routine yesterday. Will be doing P90x with a little running and yoga incorporated into the routine. Did chest, back and ab ripper today and…
  • Thanks for the article. I have terribly tight calves and need a reminder every once in a while to make sure I stretch every chance I get. Running a marathon on Sunday so really getting in some good stretching this week!
  • A good appraoch is to do what people would refer to as Interval training. I would say stick to the treadmill for the same amount of time (40-60 min) but do short burst of higher intensity. For example. Warm up for 10 minutes (by walking at your 3mph). Then throw in 1 minute of higher intensity. That can be running at 5mph…
  • I agree with Azdak - mile repeats are tough. I've been running for 10+ years and did mile repeats this summer while training for the marathon. They absolutely kicked my butt. I started out with 3 and built up but 3 was hard the first time. I would agree that you should start with a much shorter distance. I used to do 400's…
  • Wow! Congrats that's awesome! You go girl! I'll be cheering for you to bring the $600 home. You can use it to buy you a new wardrobe!
  • Chips and Salsa!!!
  • Nolachik - are you having cramps in your calves or what kind of pain? I have extremely tight calves and have been dealing with it for 10+ years. After a surgery for what they thought was compartment syndrome I think I have it figured out. Didn't need the surgery since it was just tight muscles. Now it's just a matter of…
  • Just a few things that I eat but I'm always looking for suggestions too. Almonds/walnuts, string cheese, cucumbers, plums (or whatever fruit is in season). Also Morning star sausage patties are pretty good. Super high in protein and not many calories or fat.
  • I've done 3 marathons and 3 1/2's and I think it's best to take a rest day the day before. I try to cross train the day after.
