  • No, I understood, I'm just saying that there isn't such a thing. There are no "rules". This isn't some kind of game that you play to win and then stop playing. You can't cheat on a lifestyle change. It doesn't make any sense to me to say "every Saturday I'm going to eat like I used to eat". Why not NOT do that? Why not…
  • There is no such thing as a cheat day. I can't "cheat" on life. I'm in it until I'm dead, there is no winning or losing and I'm not competing against anyone. If I consciously choose to eat more calories some days, then I do it.
  • If you want to and it's something you will stick with, go for it. But I prefer to just budget my calories a little better so I can afford a bigger dinner if that's what I want. Personally I prefer being able to snack all day over any one bigger meal, so I make sure my calories are in line to do that.
  • I use half and half in my coffee. If I have milk in cereal it's 1% because that's what we get the kids.
  • Ummm.. Only if I want to poop... LOL. Actually, there is some evidence I've read that drinking some coffee before a workout can really help (don't ask where, probably some magazine or something) performance and endurance.
  • I weigh and log daily, regardless of whether it is up or down. I don't like having to use different apps and programs to track all my data. I pretty much always have MFP open on my browser and it's on my phone and tablet, so that is what I use.
  • I usually have a general idea of what I plan to eat, but no set plans. Then I just track as I go.
  • I log my weight every day whether it is up or down. I don't do it so it will post to my newsfeed, I do it so I have all my data in one place and I don't have to enter it in separate places to keep track of it and log milestones and such. So yes, I have o.2 losses and such. But that's just how MFP works. It posts it when I…
  • OH yeah! I do it all the time! I went CRAZY for avocados a while ago. Definitely ate WAYYY too many calories, but I craved them so much. Then one day I went to make lunch and was like "hmm I don't really WANT avocado anymore" LOL.
  • Oh man, once you're working to lose so few pounds it becomes much harder. Like someone above alluded to, 4 pounds could be one good fiber filled meal away! LOL If you are only concerned about the number on the scale increasing water and reducing sodium and carbs would help to flush any retained water and lower the number…
  • If i had the room and money I'd buy an elliptical for my house! I think that they are fantastic. It's a great way to get cardio, you can increase resistance and incline to vary your workout to engage different muscle groups in your lower body. It's easy to incorporate upper body work with hand weights (if you're…
  • I've heard so many great things about this workout and I own it, but I just HATE Jillian! LOL She says things like "Girlfriend" and stuff and I probably burn more calories rolling my eyes at her than I do from the workout! BAHAHA
  • YAY! 100 pounds is a big deal! You are so right about it being easy. Hubbs and I comment to each other how it isn't "hard" to eat within our calories, just sometimes annoying! LOL
  • THANKS EVERYONE!
  • I weigh and add daily. I hate not knowing. If my weight is up, it is usually a sign for me to drink more water. Drink more that day and see either a loss or no gain the next morning.
  • That isn't really Intermittent Fasting, though. So it isn't the same thing at all.
  • I sort of eat this way without "trying". I try to not eat until after 11, usually 12, and I try to stop eating around 8. Maybe not quite 16:8 every day, but I go to bed feeling a little hungry and postpone eating as long as I can in the morning just so I can not stress about having snacks and staying on track.
  • Tee Hee, I read this as I ate a 200-something calorie salad for lunch. And it was only that small because I know I'm going out tonight and I'm saving calories for breaded, fried, pepperjack cheeseballs and rum and diet coke. LOL
  • Everything looks good but number of calories! I agree with maybe adding some small calorie (and nutrient) loaded additions. An avocado is about 300 calories (give or take, measure it to be sure, of course) so adding one whole avocado to your lunch salad would pretty much put you up where you want to be, plus it's DELICIOUS…
  • Everyone else has said it already. Create a deficit in whatever way you can. If you can't burn extra calories, just eat fewer. You may feel a bit hungry in the beginning if you are eating fewer calories than before to maintain the same deficit, so you'll have to play around a bit with finding things that fill you up with…
  • YAHOO!!! Way to go! That's a fantastic result! Working hard to take care of yourself really pays off! Keep up that water intake!
  • If you keep working and get to a low enough BF% you will absolutely lose the belly fat. But like others have mentioned your body will not work the same as, say, mine. I'm extremely lucky, my belly fat is one of the first areas my body tends to let go of, so when I lose 20 pounds, my belly looks much flatter. However, the…
  • I don't know about those specific teas. I drink peppermint tea with a tiny bit of egyptian licorice to add sweetness. It curbs my appetite, just because something is in my stomach, and it curbs my craving for sweet, because of the licorice. No calories, no caffeine, and it increases hydration which is super healthy. If you…
  • You're story sounds just like mine! Honestly, one or two weeks I'll be doing great, then I will see an increase and feel awful and like all my hard work was for naught, so just F it and eat everything. I think this month is the longest I've ever logged consistently. What is helping this time around is logging the more…
  • Low-carb can be a useful tool for those who need help creating a calorie deficit without feeling as hungry. Because of the way our bodies process different macronutrients, fat and protein tend to give that satiated feeling for longer. Also, grain related carbs tend to be the most calorie dense, so reducing the amount of…
  • A hangover is essentially dehydration. Sweating it out is actually TERRIBLE advice, because you main goal should be to rehydrate as well as possible. Water is great, but gatorade is better, in this situation. However, once you're feeling better, getting out and about and getting your mind off of it can help a lot. I had a…
  • I LOVE cold brew coffee. I only make it in the summer, I just never thought about heating it up. I've got a Keurig, so I could add hot water to it directly from there and it would be just right for drinking!
  • Log it and let it go. If you CAN manage to eat the 200, then do that. If you need more to feel comfortable that is okay too. You're just starting out and you're learning, this was just a lesson, that's all. This wasn't a "binge" or a "cheat" or anything with those bad connotations. It was simply a lesson. And a good lesson…
  • See, I don't hate the measuring (I'm big and losing, so I'm not terribly concerned about weighing, yet, but I know it's in my future) I just hate the logging. It just feels terribly unnatural. I do it because I have to. I like the data available once I've done it. I just really really don't like doing it. But I know I have…
  • Great job on working hard! Keep at it and you'll not regret it!
