Welcome back. No one is shunning you. We all know what it's like to have major holidays such as Christmas come around and boy does the time go quickly when you intend to get back to something then find 2,3 or even 4 months or more have passed. Each day is a new day. We are glad you have made it back today and we are all…

55, that's after just having had lunch.

yes, any and all activity burns energy and a calorie is a unit of energy. When you make your profile in MFP you are asked about your activity level. Did you put in there that you are active? MFP automatically includes that in your daily allowances then. For sure you will burn far more than us couch potatoes or desk jockeys.

I would love to run (I'm 56) but my legs are too stiff and I can't seem to run at all. I do bike every day usually about 12 miles. Don't understand why my legs don't work for running. I walk lots too. Good luck with the running.

Yes, I eat anything I want and don't deprive myself some treat occasionally. I make a conscious effort to eat healthier because to me this is a lifestyle change and not a "diet" as such. I tended to eat such large portions before and finish off the leftovers at lunch. I can still do that if I wish and as long as I am under…

You have some great ideas Christaine, they will be helpful for many of us. I really like your idea of having pre-prepared "binge" foods and letting the family members know that their disagreements with each other are affecting other family members and that it's not fair to expect anyone to referee. Thanks for your comments.

It is so easy to turn to food and binge when feeling stressed. (I do it all the time) but I tell myself the guilt trip afterwards isn't worth it. Then I do it again. It's so sad that your friends little girl drowned. My heart goes out to the mother. It's also so easy to blame God in these situations but that's not where…

I don't know about you but there are days when I feel totally down. I am so cheered by the progress I make and then seem to hit a "bad" day. (Today was one, I pigged out on sour cream and onion chips). But then I tell myself that I am anxious over a few things, sick dog with cough, youngest son flew to UK for the first…

So good to see I'm not the only person in the world who LIKES Brussels sprouts! I just cut off the bottom end of the stalk. Remove a couple of the lower leaves and steam for a few minutes until tender. Butter and pepper. They are our families traditional Christmas vegs.

Oh dear! First, I commend you on your concern it's clear you love your sister in law and are concerned for her. I can relate and feel that I am very much like her, which is how I came to be having these weight struggles now. I had 4 children and breastfed them all. Please don't think I'm blaming breast feeding, I'm not, I…

feel free to add me as a friend. We all need encouragement and a cheering section to help us survive each day. You can do it. I'm 56 and have lost 30lbs as of today. (yay) Another 15 to go. You can do it. One day at a time. It takes many drops of water to fill a sink but go on vacation and you come back to a flood.

definitely noticeable. keep it up, you look great.

You can add me as a friend. Encouragement is important. Having the friends who really understand and care make a huge difference to success. You almost feel as if you are letting them down as well when you backslide, not just yourself. They are our cheering section. Good luck with your weight loss. I was thrilled, I've…

Isn't that a wonderful feeling? I know it was so good for me to finally sit on a couch and reach my toes without my belly getting in the way, Or fasten my shoes etc. Keep it up.

me, me, me! I crave them and can't eat just one.

Congratulations on getting started and making such a GREAT start. Remember to drink lots, that's one of the keys to not feeling hungry and reaching for the snacks. Also, as someone else pointed out...watch what you are eating. Make sure you get enough protein as that will help fill you for longer periods. My husband laughs…

Well done, you must feel so proud of yourself. We are all cheering for you. Keep it up. You will look back and say "Yay, I did it" I know it's hard sometimes to stay on it and so easy to slip but you will be so pleased you stuck to it.

I don't have a problem. I have to cook for hubby and kids and I eat the same as they eat, I just check the size of my portions. That's the only difference. I'm not sure what you mean by all the food prep.

I'm not sure I ever weighed 125. (Maybe when I was 10). I am 5' 7" and currently weight 161. I am working at getting down to 150. If I'm lucky 145 but I start to look really gaunt and ill if I lose too much. Perhaps I'm bigger boned than those who want to weight 125.

Hi there. I tend to go through stages too where I won't lose any weight for a week or 2 and then start up again. I find it helps if I have one decent meal (out to restaurant, steak, etc. ) once a week. How is your working out? Perhaps you are starting to build muscle so aren't seeing the weight loss so much but will start…
-
I already do that since I cycle 11 to 12 miles per day 6 or 7 days per week.

You are amazing! You must be so proud of yourself and I'm sure are starting to feel the benefits. You done so well. Do keep it up. You are an inspiration to the rest of us.

I'm from Canada but was born in UK and all my family are there. Welcome to the site. As our Australian friend says...it's a worldwide site. Everyone is welcome to use it. Good luck with your weight loss and new you goals.

Thank you for your encouragement. I've always wondered why sweet potato is better than regular potato?? Your list of foods is a good reminder even if we have heard it before. Thanks.
-
Well done, stay with it and you will see the difference. Add me as a friend if you wish.

my biggest fear is not being able to maintain at that goal. I have reached it several times over the past few years and if I don't write down everything I eat then my portions slowly start to increase in size and before I know it, I've put everything back on and hate myself for allowing that to happen.

I used to feel that way about riding my bike in public. It sounded stupid but I was very self conscious and thought everyone would look at me and what I'm wearing, etc. But when I thought about it I didn't notice the others, just thought cool, I should that. I started riding with my husband then built up confidence to go…

add me too. We can all encourage one another. Good luck.

You can count me as a friend if you wish. We all need the encouragement. I have to keep telling myself "a morsel past the lips means inches on the hips"
