  • Wishing all of you the best of luck to reach your goal. I have decided to buckle down as well and hope to be successful.
  • Well, I think I have you ALL beat! I'm trying again for the millionth and one time!. I hear what you all are saying and I've also been there and done that. Could kick myself because I did get to a great weight a couple of years ago. (I remember it was hard, lots of commitment, eating well, lots of bike riding). Then one…
  • Wishing you all the best. So many of us have been at the same spot. Lost the weight and regained it. We always kick ourselves and wonder how we managed to get from getting it off to putting more back on. We do need to support each other. Well done for not giving up. You have taken the biggest step and that's getting back…
  • Feel free to friend me. I'm always happy to have a friend. Supporting each other is crucial when trying to lose weight. We all need the motivation and pats on the back.
  • Looking for friends as well. It seems all my friends have obtained their goals and are no longer on. I really the motivation.
  • I can certainly relate. twice over. Each time I have vowed I wouldn't put it back on but the portions get larger. Each time I look in the mirror and say yes, I like how I look and feel now. Then put it back on. Feel sick and disappointed with myself but here I am starting over again. Lost 45 pounds. Put on 45. Last time I…
  • hmm, pretty much all of the above. No, I amend that. I'm not a cookie or muffin person. Love carbs. Potatoe chips and peanuts (and wine) are my downfalls. I also love chocolate but as long as it's not in the house I don't crave it. I only eat it if it's there. I don't have a sweet tooth so am safe from icecream.
  • I am so pleased to hear I'm not the only one! I am in my 50s as well. Have 2 glasses of wine in an evening. One with supper and another afterwards. Just enjoying the mellow flavour and savouring it. I'm also big into the snacking and not healthy snacks either. I am a carb freak and snack on potatoe chips, mainly the…
  • Worry about how to maintain my goal
  • I enjoy a can of diet ginger ale when I get back from my bike ride. It's nice and refreshing. Otherwise I drink water throughout the day apart from my pot of tea at breakfast and glass of wine with supper. I think everyone has to do what works for them. My daughter scoffs at me drinking diet ginger ale. "It's so bad for…
  • I don't schedule "cheat days". To me, losing weight is a whole new lifestyle and that includes exercise and healthier eating habits. Now I do binge on occasion especially days when I'm down or no one else is home. I find food is my comfort so I can relate to your cheat days. I really have to work hard and if I go over then…
  • well done on your dedication to lose weight despite knee problems. We all know that carrying extra weight hurts our knees especially when we have problems anyway. I too struggle with knee problems and have found that they are much easier and I'm sleeping better with them now I've lost some weight. I have had torn knee…
  • Hi, I'm 56 and have been on mfp for a couple of months now. Since January have lost 38lbs. Feel free to add me as a friend if you wish. We all need the motivation and support of each other.
  • Good for you, you have taken the first step in getting fit and that's always the hardest, making the start. Now to stick with it. It will get easier and you'll also find that as you lose a little weight at a time that will help too. When I started in January I was getting really puffed out and had a hard time and my knees…
  • No!!!! Don't give up. 4lbs is GREAT! Most of us really and truly only lose a pound a week. For a good honest, keep it off loss that is a decent goal. Stick with it and in a few months you WILL see the difference and certainly feel the difference. It's hard to get discouraged in the early weeks because we so want that…
  • Congratulations. You have done amazingly and will be an inspiration to all the rest of us to keep going. Thanks for posting. You look fantastic.
  • Welcome to MFP. It sounds as if you have been trying really hard to lose weight over the past year but hopefully now that you are on this site and start to track your intake and excercise hopefully you will start to see the results you want. Be sure to track everything accurately. I don't know if you did that before. MFP…
  • That about says it all I think. Well done. I wonder about the quality of the friends you are with. Perhaps you need some new ones and a new perspective while you are at it.
  • It really depends on what your tastes and budget are. Not all honeymooners want the sun and sand. My husband and I went to Kenya for a safari and to the Seychelles but then we were living in the Middle East at the time and money was no object. I would suggest a cruise where you can put in at several different places and…
  • I know the feeling. It's fantastic to try so hard and then find that you are out of the 70s. I remember those days. Not so long ago either. I was working towards a cruise with my husband and wanted to get down to that number. DIdn't make it for the cruise but did a few weeks after. I am now 156 so can understand your…
  • Also, am assuming you got an x-ray? If so remember lots of heat and cold compresses. Very cold for a few minutes then alternate with the heat. The one reduces swelling and eases pain and the other brings blood into the region to help heal. :flowerforyou:
  • That sounds painful. But I understand how hard it is to catch those balls sometimes. I got one in the face a few years back because I wasn't quick enough to catch it. The question regarding "can you ride a bike" is a really good one because that is a great way to stay trim and get your exercise but in a very low weight…
  • I live in Barrie, not close enough to meet for workouts but happy to be a friend and support.
  • Don't get so blotto you end up in the wrong bedroom afterwards! I've seen the jokes regarding that. Seriously, I don't frequent bars so it's not a problem but also don't have any number one rule. I have a glass of wine at home, with friends but don't need to go out and pay those prices to enjoy a drink.
  • No, it won't blow it. Just stay on track over the next few days. We all have days where we eat more. Vacation, out to restaurant etc. You may find that some of the weight gain you see on the scale is a combination of water retention, plus the building of muscle. Stick with it that's important. Don't guilt trip yourself but…
  • I was a British nurse working for the Armed Forces in Abu Dhabi. We had gone out to help set up a new hospital that had just been built. He was a Canadian pilot (not Armed Forces) flying workers out to the oil rigs etc. We met on the beach. A friend of mine had met the pilots. I had only been out there 2 weeks. She invited…
  • You look amazing. Way to go. Congrats on sticking with it and achieving your goal.
  • I am left handed too although I hold a tennis racket, broom and various other things in my right. (Hopeless at tennis by the way) Very good swimmer but no good at ball games. Do hold bat with right. (Perhaps that's the problem). Mother is also left handed.Am excellent at computer skills. Not very creative.
  • Thanks for your post. It goes to show that it's ok to go out for a meal sometimes and not "blow" it. I know that usually once a week I eat something like a hamburger, pizza, take out food or something other than "calorie counted" food. I do make sure I always eat a healthy well balanced diet and watch portion size rather…
  • For many of us on MFP we join because we get to the stage where we are disgusted with ourselves. That's the point where we have reached the stage of motivation and have the will power to do this. Well...I can't speak for any one else but for me that was certainly the case. I was wearing the same couple of expandable things…
