  • Cliff Bars: good protein and satisfying.
  • If I'm doing only Cardio, yes empty stomach. When lifting though, your muscles require good fuel to perform. I do a 1/2 scoop protein and a small amount of a good quality carb like 1/2 a banana.
  • I like the free weights because it requires a lot more stabilization work from your core to maintain proper form. It results in a better overall burn in addition to working the muscle group you are targeting. But the machines have their place too. I think a good routine incorporates both.
  • Sounds like you're doing great! Keep at it! The 2nd day after starting a serious toning routine is always the worst! As long as you stay consistent, the major soreness will last from a few days to a week depending on how much healing your muscles have to do. • I warm up with 10 minutes of cardio before weight-training. If I'm doing arms that day, I make sure to incorporate cardio that moves my arms (i.e. ellipitcal). I usually do my real cardio work later in the day so I don't kill myself.

It evens out my insulin response to keep the focus on protein and veggies most of the day. Keep the meals relatively small and you can feed yourself every couple hours and never go hungry. In fact, I have to force…
