I am now lighter than I was at 10 years old. Believe me, 'old' weights are absolutely achievable!

Hi there, I attempted low carb earlier this year to see if it could lessen my symptoms of PCOS, whilst seeing if it shifted some pounds. I found it very difficult indeed. Don't get me wrong, the weight came off - but I didn't find it sustainable. That's not to say low-carb doesn't work, it just wasn't for me. I slowly…

Hello! I was pregnant with a food baby for most of my life. Whilst I still have a bit of a pooch, it is nowhere near as bad as it probably should be! And to be honest, my pooch is the only place I have any loose skin - my arms and legs are pretty good. I attribute this to the following: - slow and steady weight loss…

Basically? Hard effing work. The science of it - started at 16 stone (224lb) in September 2010, am currently just over 10 stone (142lb). I shifted the bulk (fnaaar) of my weight through vigorous cardio, peppered with the odd kettlebells session to minimise the risk of loose skin. At the beginning, I was very unfit so would…

You look absolutely incredible, and thank you for posting this - since I started lifting regularly over the past few months, the change to my shape has been very significant. I have to constantly convince my girlfriends that they shouldn't be scared of the weights section - maybe I will point them at this thread!

Fellow Welshie here - I log in every day :)

A good 6 weeks for me - all of a sudden, the pounds shifted a little. But, more importantly I would say, I could feel and see the difference. I suspect my maintenance weight has increased since upping calories, but I've definitely changed shape - clothes fit better, and I just look leaner.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha! You're awesome!

I'm friends with a lot of the girls from my classes on Facebook, and have had nothing but positive feedback from them when I've posted progress pictures, before/after etc. Interestingly, old friends are nothing but positive too - but do whatever you feel comfortable with! I think that, as long as you're not coming across…

Because you can never have too many before and afters... 16 stone (224lb) to just over 10 stone (140lb) in just under two years. PCOS sufferer, recovering binge eater, endorphin addict!

Oh, das pooch. Don't be too hard on yourself - I've never had a baby and had a pooch that you could swing from the rafters by! I was a serial dodger of jeans back in the day - not just because of the gunt (I'm sorry that's a crasser than crass word, but it suited me), but because they'd dig into my belly so much the crease…

Haaaaaaaa! That's EXACTLY it! Now I just smell of...I dunno, exhaustion and sweat. I'll go for that :)

I echo all that everyone has said so far, plus a bit of my own personal experience for comfort. I went on holiday in September this year at 10 stone 2 (142lb). I came back, one week later, at 11 stone 3 (157lb). And that was with me going to the hotel gym every day too. It happens - when I relax my diet some, my body…

Thank you all so much for your replies! Ha, sorry! I'll blame post-run fatigue...basically, I never used to be able to walk more than half a mile due to my size (and associated chubrub). Now? I can run 10k. Hmm, you could be onto something there...

Gina Carano in her 'Haywire' role. If only for her thigh-squeezing abilities.

Bald is beautiful! The Man is balding (keeps it very close trimmed - don't ask me for numbers) and it suits him really well. More than his natural hair ever did, I'd say. I'm biased, though - I'm a sucker for a bald man. But on the right person it can look excellent - and surely it's always better than an attempt at a…

You have to want to be healthy/fitter/stronger/lighter badly enough. And my mantra consistently remains "results or excuses: never both". My secret? Not gonna lie, hard work. Also - no such thing as a quick fix. Ever.

Buuuump! Love pancakes, so am going to give these a go this weekend. Thank you!

You seem to already be doing all I would have advised! I'm a big supporter of hot baths (Radox Muscle Soak...mmmmm), and a willing person to give you a massage every now and then.

I upped my calories a few months back when I started regularly lifting heavier weights - or rather, I ate back a lot more of my exercise calories. I'm set at 1750 calories a day, and burn anywhere from 650 - 1200 calories most days through exercise. It's almost as if my body now expects those calories, as I am very hungry…

I've mentioned these in a confessions thread before, but I think it's always worth keeping the inner Binge Demon in check... Greggs (for non-UK peeps, a mecca of cheap pastry-laden goods, pizza slices, doughnuts, type 2, etc) once ran a BOGOF promotion. I took full advantage and ordered the following: two cheese and onion…

I swear by the following: - the entire 'Invaders Must Die' album by The Prodigy - 'Pain Killer' by Noize Suppressors - 'Operation Blade' by Public Domain - 'Slam' by Pendulum - 'Lose Control' by Missy Elliot - 'The Beautiful People' by Marilyn Manson - 'Hot Ride' and 'No Good' by The Prodigy - 'Let You Go' and 'Flashing…

Such a significant and important victory for you - and hopefully one that will see you in good stead for the future. So very well done xxx

Thank you so much :)

Yup, both! Incorporating weights into my cardio regime fairly early on saved me a lot of loose skin, I think.

...a younger model. I was 24 with a much older boyfriend. Youngest dumped-for-a-younger-model EVER!

I owe the majority of my weight loss to zumba! How 'dancey' or it is (or isn't!) really depends on the instructor - as does the intensity of the class. Don't worry about not being able to pick it up - practice makes perfect, and everyone's in the same boat at one point! As long as you're still moving your body, that's all…

Hard to say, really - but I'd argue that as you can programme in your gender, height, weight and age into the PT4 then it gives a decent enough reading (there's a school of thought that says that HRMs are 75% accurate). I think that as long as you bear that in mind, you're golden!

Yup. Recently, a so-called friend said I was starting to look like a (and I quote) "lollipop head". Anyone who knows me knows that I am a country mile from lollipop head! Not with THESE shoulders... But yeah. Haters gonna hate. It's just sad when it comes from fairly close to home - and often due to their own issues. It…

Me too! Swear by it. Mine was about £50 on Amazon - worth every penny.
