Hi! I attend and teach at a gym in Wallingford - request sent :) x

Thank you all for your kind responses; it's very much appreciated. My hair loss, for me, was one of the most crushing symptoms of PCOS - and while I'm still receding some, it's not the 'counting the hairs in the shower' nightmare it used to be.

Naaaah. High in sugar and will make you crash; and frankly any company that advertises eating two bowls of cereal as two meal replacements for two weeks as a healthy option really needs their head checked.

Binge eating and not getting off the sofa, basically. Eating in secret; cramming chocolate bars in my mouth between lessons or school and home; and buying armfuls of Greggs pasties and shoving them in my gaping maw in my car. Wash, rinse, repeat - most days.

Thank you for posting this; excellent read.

Leg raises - lie on your back, legs together, raise them up, then lower them as low as you can without touching the floor. Slooooowly repeat. Pair that with criss-cross kicks when your legs are just above the floor and that's your lower abs screaming for mercy.

Hello folks, Welcome to the most obnoxious after shot, EVAAAAAR! Before - just over 16 stone (224lb), August 2010 After - just over 10.5 stone (147lb), May 2013 Former fatty, recovering binge eater, PCOS soul cyster, Zumba instructor, kettlebell-swinger and the happiest I have ever been. What do I like best? I'm nicknamed…

Oh wow, thank you for such lovely words! But yes, I can certainly appreciate that BMI is a one-size-fits-all measure, and doesn't take things into account such as muscle mass, natural build etc. But the fact remains that, whilst I'm in shape - I still often get called 'thin' or 'skinny' when, even if you take my flabby…

I certainly think so. I was out in the sun on Monday - a really lovely, warm day in my neck of the woods - and was quietly astounded at how many fat people they were. This comes from a former fatty. But I would say a good 80% of the people I saw were at the very least overweight, with some being so large they couldn't walk…

I swear that kettlebells saved my arms from bingo wing hell! I started using them pretty early on in my weight loss to combat loose skin, and they certainly helped :) They're a great mix of cardio and strength training, too - your heart really gets pumping. Enjoy; I find them especially good for core strength, and they're…

Second part - wholeheartedly agree. First - am I missing something? 5lb of muscle and 5lb of fat will both say exactly the same thing if placed on a scale, yes? Volume and density aside, of course.

Oooh, also, also: "muscle weighs more than fat". SWEET BABY JESUS.

Haaaaaaa, I love the comments so far! My personal favourites: - "but why are you lifting weights? You'll get all manly" - RAAAAR OH MY GOD I WANT TO USE MY NEWLY-ACQUIRED STRENGTH TO BEAT YOU TO A BLOODY PULP - "you exercise loads; your diet doesn't matter" - er...it matters even more, actually - cardio is evil/strength…

Always offering a wave to my fellow taff - Cardiff girl here :) xxx

BACON BACON BACON BACON. Salty, crispy, meaty, fatty, delicious BACON. Don't even get me started on my love affair with its obese brother; the flavoured fat that is known as chorizo...

I adore this post. Thank you for sharing it :D

Hello there! Always got a fist-bump for my fellow soul cyster. The basics - got diagnosed in 2010, however long suspected it was the case. My joyful symptoms include being a big ol' apple shape (although that was more with the distribution of the flab, rather than the cause of the flab itself - that was largely down to an…

Hello there ladies, I'm sure she won't mind, but can I please point you in the direction of liftnlove - classic example. I've been losing weight for the past 2 years or so - cardio blasted my fat, but heavy lifting has dealt with the hangovers and shaped me really well. Before and afters and the token gun-shot are in my…

Do not be defeated. Slow and steady wins the race every single time. When I first started exercising, I had to limit my walks on the treadmill because the pain from my thighs rubbing together would halt matters. I was red, sweaty, in pain, but determined as fock. You CAN do it. Only you stand in the way, and take it one…

I'm on Metformin and Dianette for PCOS - I've changed my diet recently to be much higher in protein and fat and lower in carbs, and the Metformin suddenly made me feel very sick. I don't think it mixed well with the changed diet. In my previous experiences, Metformin did quash my appetite some - but only if I ate…

Welcome to MFP - a real step in the right direction :) It can be done, I promise you - I started off at 16 stone and the gym was a place for mentalists and masochists as far as I was concerned, and my main intimate relationship was with Greggs. Loathed exercise, loved rubbish food, and the scales reflected that. This is…

Anything from Courtney Love to Jennifer Aniston. Erm...

- custard creams - big bars of chocolate - i.e. share size packs, because I only share them with me, myself and I - Walkers Sensations - white bread (soft, white, squishy bread becomes a heavenly blank canvas for anything spreadable in the house)

Mine's 20 - but before it would have been painfully high, believe me.

My shoulders. Sleeveless season (if we ever get one in the UK...cough) is my favourite :)

Slebs and peeps in the public eye? Gina Carano is #1, largely because her body is my absolute ideal - strong, feminine and sexy. Also fairly attainable for someone like me - hopefully :) There are a few women on my friends list who absolutely astound me on a daily basis - liftnlove is one, as are sDurrahMpls and…

Moglet's Luxury Omelette: - two whole eggs - splash of milk - splash of soy sauce - 50g sliced chorizo - 50g soft goat's cheese - handful of spinach wilted in a teaspoon of easy garlic - 25g button mushrooms UMPH.

I don't have anything to add as it's already been expressed so beautifully - what wonderful responses this thread has received.

I'm in the shape of my life at 28, but that's more because I was a) obese and I b) work out like a demon and eat well these days! Definitely noticed some general differences though - wear and tear, puffier skin, odds and sods. I sometimes feel annoyed at myself at letting myself be so fat when I should have been in my…

Yup! You are what you eat has become increasingly true as I've improved my diet. If I eat rubbish food, it feels like I've got a terrible food hangover - never worth it. Although bizarrely, pizza and beer never really do too much damage...the power of the mind ;)
