Aww, peeps. I'm stuffed full of cold and January blues (honestly. The Monday of the year; believe) and your replies are making my day. Thank you so much xxx

Thank you all so much :) marathon_mama - thank you! I do, but I don't update it anywhere near as often as I should. http://russianweightsandsmallerplates.wordpress.com FAF - these were GIANT sequins and therefore somehow non-scratchy. However, I did shed sequins all over the bloody shop, like a sort of camp Gretel. And…

When I first met The Man, I was about 4 stone/56lb heavier than he was. And God, did I know it. He's never treated me any less than a queen, but regardless - there's this devilishly handsome athletic sort with CHUBS CHUBBYSON OF CHUBSVILLE. I was terribly self-conscious about it - all my own doing. I felt fat (well, I was,…

Incredible! We have near enough identical stats, so it's amazing to see someone else's results. You are amazing, well done. You look stunning, and I can't imagine how good you must feel.

Hi there, I still have something of a bellypooch, but it's definitely shrinking (I noticed the other day that the skin seems looser still; so that last bit of fat underneath is going somewhere!). Bearing in mind that I was fat for the best part of 25 years, it's not so bad - still hangs a little, but my upper abs are…

Hi there! Starting weight - 16 stone (224lb) Current weight - just over 10 stone (141lb) Height - 5' 5"

Hello and welcome! Fellow soul cyster here. Can't cure PCOS, but certainly doing my best to smash it into submission :) Please feel free to add me x

Oh hello ladies! Sorry about my silence; didn't notice the responses and then went away - thank you so much for your comments, much appreciated :) For those who asked - I largely use dumbells (laying off the kettlebells due to a shoulder injury), and carry out bicep curls, tricep dips, flies, rows and lateral raises. I use…

Hi there! In my experience, regular exercise (and particularly strength training) helped keep saggy skin at bay. Also plenty of water. I still have a bit of a bellypooch, but I'll take that for the loss!

Hello from Cardiff :)

Absolutely this. It frustrates me that I have worked this hard and this long to lose the weight, and yet my noggin is nowhere near as advanced as my body (shameless plug, but relevant - I've written about it before: http://russianweightsandsmallerplates.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/the-skin-im-in/). Like others have said…

Hi lovely! I started exercising in September 2010, and that was largely cardio just to get me a bit fitter as I was horribly out of shape. I started kettlebells in about the December - only once or twice a week, but that paired with daily cardio seemed to do a good job of shaping me up. I started heavy lifting about two…

Thank you peeps :) On a related note, I just calculated my body fat - before, it was 49%. Now, it's approximately 24 - 25%. God bless the weights section!

I got accused of fabricating my calorie burns before. No biggie; it's between me and my Polar PT4. Not gospel, but it's good enough for me. I work hard. Damn hard - blinded-by-sweat-ow-ow-ow hard. I take my burns with a pinch of salt in terms of eating back my calories, but in terms of what they display on MFP? Eh. I'm not…

I make two pancakes with this recipe, and drizzled some honey over them. SCOFF. They're my post-exercise go-to!
-
Eeeeeh, the old calories in - calories out debate. I can kind of understand it, but in my experience (I emphasise that point!), when I've eaten rubbish consistently I've a) felt like said rubbish and b) either hit a plateau or gained (even if it's 'just' sodium or water retention). I'm not a saint by any stretch of the…

Hello and welcome! I'm shorter than you, and had a higher starting weight - but am a fellow soul cyster! Meds-wise, I'm on Dianette and Metformin. However, regular exercise certainly did a lot more for me than any artificial means. High intensity cardio (zumba, largely) and kettlebells sessions saw me blitzing fat, and…

Your tone is so positive, and you sound so motivated - and that's what I'm taking from this post. Well done! BUT! God, I want to punch some people in the face until I'm weak with exhaustion. What is WRONG with people?

Planks work for me, as does the bicycle - on your back, lift up your legs and basically slowly pedal like you're on a bike. The lower the legs, the harder it is. Oooowwwwww.
-
I lost a lot of weight before I joined MFP - but my friends recommended it, so I signed up - and love it. As for my initial push? I long suspected I had PCOS - facial hair, apple shape, and most upsetting of all: thinning hair. My hair was my crowning glory; my security blanket when I had a Fat Day. Now that guarantee…

You Were Unhappy.

Oh God, I hear you loud and clear. All fun fun fun on the night out (although you're quietly aware of the flashes), and then the dreaded notifications the next day. I wasn't above bribery to get friends to not only detag, but delete the offending photos. Night out photos, regardless of alcohol comsumption, are generally…

Heartbroken for you. I have so much sentimental jewellery and that feeling of panic when you think it's gone is horrific. Still...a NSV is a NSV, so. Big bloody well done!
-
I echo what a lot of people have said already in this thread. Bottom line - PCOS doesn't have to stop you. It makes it hard, but it doesn't make it impossible. Use your successes as a stick to batter it with!
-
Yup, the link provided above is pretty much gospel for me! I hear you loud and clear. If it's any comfort, for the past few months I was in spitting distance of my goal weight (I was 16 stone/224lb to begin with, with a target weight of 10 stone/140lb). A few months ago, I started regular heavier lifting in addition to my…

More often than not, I'm the only girl in the weights section of my local gym - and I love it! The men are very friendly (one even took the time to offer me tips in the most helpful, least condescending way possible) and always chat, and are very supportive. As others have said, don't worry about what others think. It's…

You absolute FOX.
-
So...personal preference is fine, as long as said you fit said preference and if you don't they're shallow and a bit of a knobber? Riiiiiiiiight.

Bang on the money.

I know that I'd certainly love to meet some of my MFP friends - if they were closer, I'd be on it like Wallace and Gromit.
