I once worked as a volunteer right at the corner where the tri-athletes made their final turn into the shoot. I can not tell you how many people I saw plodding in when someone came up to catch them from behind - It was on. Both sped up and both finished with a smile on their face!

This sounds fantastic

Week 2 26 miles

I've been trying to stay under 3/4 of the calories I exercise over the entire week. I created a worksheet to track this. This has also helped me know feel quite so guilty when I eat more for a couple of days before a really long run or race.

You need to pay attention to all the details. One site had it listed that there were 2 servings per dish!!!

Way to go all you first timers it is addicting! Each new distance is a new thrill. I was a newbie to running about 3 years ago. My next one is a 50k on March 9th - can't wait!

Check with your community center or senior center. My mom does a seated exercise class and sitting yoga once a week each and LOVES it. I think Golds gym even has a Silver Sneakers class that uses a chair. There also should be DVD for seated exercise or you can probably find some on Youtube.

Choose a craft beer - I find the better more intense flavors make me want to savor it more (read drink it slower) and I feel like it fills me up. I would rather have a good beer and have a veggie and hummus plate for munchies then have a crappy light beer and have chips and salsa.

My goal for 90 days from now is to 1. Have completed the 50k race I have planned for March 9 2. Logged in completely and truthfully food ate at least 90% of the days 3. Lost 7 pounds

Can you put me in for 120 for the month week 1 thru 1/6 = 29 I am new to this do we need to do anything else or just tell you the mileage at the end of each week?

I like my coffee with about 50 calories of Whole Foods Organic Instant hot chocolate - yummy and healthier than a lot of the other coffee mixers.

I signed up for my first 50k as well. It is the Crazy Desert run in San Angelo Texas also on March 9. Friend me if you want someone to talk to about it. I know my friends will be really tired hearing about it long before I am finished talking. I am just continuing with my Marathon training group - schedule lines up pretty…

I cook something in the crockpot every Sunday. Right now I have a yummy smoked sausage cassoulet simmering away that smells yummy. (from myrecipes.com). I will portion these out when it is complete, write the portion/cal on tape on the container. It will probably smell so good that your family will want to eat what you are.

Do you have a friend that cooks? Maybe you could buy premade meals from her. Especially if they are single. I like to cook, but since there is only me I eat the same meal for a week. I would love to have someone to split the bill with so I could cook several different things a week.

I would strongly suggest you join a running group. Most places have several and some are even free. You could try a meetup group. Even if it is just for the long runs. In Austin there is everything from free to thee hundred plus dollars for a marathon training season (usually about 5 months). The more expensive ones have…

Started running about 3 years ago at 48, never run much before. Now I have completed 4 marathons, a slew of halfs and I am training for a 50k in March. I joined a running group that would get me past those first couple of miles that I still dislike. I probably would have quit if I hadn't joined that group.

Try Good Earth's Sweet and Spicy tea I believe they have a caf and decaf variety. Lots of flavor, slightly sweet and it is good hot or cold.

I did two things that really helped me this past year. I watched the finishers come in on a five mile race. The really fast people who came in first were really breathing hard and looked beat. The slower ones did not. It really made me realize that I needed to push myself if I wanted to go faster and it might be hard and…

second the Vitamix I love mine and just bought my son one (who never ate veggies but is now having smoothies with Kale in them). Got it at Costco for $375. for the standard 5200. They have demonstration days but if you call around they sometimes have extra stock at the store

Local running store no question. Also many have group runs, happy hour runs, free yoga and core classes. Get on their mailing list, go to there seminars. I think I have gotten at least a 10% off every shoe I have bought due to a coupon, Brooks Night, etc and have a great time at all of these events. My Favorite - Luke's…

Jenny please don't be so hard on your self. Ask any of the people you see the great before and after pics or with the big weight loss if they haven't had a stumble or two or twenty six. The people who are going to be successful at losing the weight and keeping it off are the ones that are able to deal with daily battles…

When I was on well water I would buy water in a 3 gallon jug and refill it at the grocery (very cheap) and then pour it into a pitcher to keep in the fridge for cold good water. Or you can refill your water bottles. or even better fill several pba(?) safe bottles that you fill up and keep those in the fridge.

Remember to go outside - get a good chaise lounge, a lap blanket etc. Fresh air and some sunshine can really help.

Nope, if it is allowed and you like to run with it then do so. You may want to try running some of it with out it if there is a supportive crowd. Some of my favorite memories of races is something a random spectator said in support as I ran by. So I do both

Get out there and start training for a 10k. I can't believe how many times I cried through a run while my father was dying. Running allowed me a time to be with my feelings in a positive manner. I can out stronger from it in so many ways.
