  • I use the below calculator to determine my TDEE based on activity level. I ate exactly at TDEE for the first trimester (2100 calories), regardless of excersize I eat the same calories every day. I added some to that number and am now eating about 2200-2300 per day for the second trimester. I will increase that again for…
  • Glad to have found the group!! I am 30 and 13 weeks pregnant with #2. I had an unhealthy pregnancy with my daughter. I ate too much, didnt workout enough and gained a TON of weight. So far I have not missed one day at the gym, despite the nagging first trimester symptoms. If anything I think keeping up with running,…
  • LOVED it!! It was my gateway into heavy lifting and really improved my strength. I went from doing 2 pushups to being able to do up to 35 military style pushups. I also took pictures each month and saw noticable differences. I highly recommend it!
  • It has been a few years, but I remember not feeling up to much until I came back to work. That was three months after the birth. I started with the elliptical, but had to stop for another month or so because I developed a "hole" in my incision. That took a couple more weeks to heal. I had a great surgery and a mostly…
  • I am hoping for a VBAC and it would be nice to get back to activity quicker than I could have last time. I plan to do something similar to the Roadmap and will likely take a 10-15% cut from TDEE, plus I will eat my breastfeeding calories. Breastfeeding did not melt the weight off for me with my daughter. Sadly, that was my…
  • I gained three pounds almost right away and haven't gained another since and I am 13 weeks now. I have been eating at maintenence, which is 2100 for me. I just moved up to 2200 for the second Tri and may increase a little more if it doesn't feel like enough. :)
  • Love hearing all these lovely VBAC stories!! I am 12 weeks now and going for a non medicated hospital VBAC in October. I have a doula and a very VBAC friendly doc and hospital, so I am hoping for the best. I am a researcher by nature and also very obsessive, so I now know every single statistic backwards and forwards for…
  • I am so sorry to hear that you got such stressful news!!! I second that those tests are high on the false positives, but I know that doesn't help much. I just had mine done, mostly because I wanted to see the baby, and I am slightly nervous for poor results. I hope that your ultrasound puts your mind at ease. Keep us…
  • I had a C-section with my daughter and had visitors the same day. They were literally waiting for me in the room when I was brought in. It was HORRIBLE. If I could do it over again I would have nobody there for at least the first day. C-section recovery can be brutal and it was all very overwhelming, no to mention made…
  • I have two very large herniations in my low back and was told I needed a fusion at the age of 18. I am now 30 and have not had it done and have survived one pregnancy, working on another. Towards the end of my pregnancy my back went completely out for two weeks. The only things that helped were yoga stretches and massage.…
  • Thanks for the detailed reply. I do plan on ordering the Sun Baby's soon and trying them out on my toddler as a tester. She is currently potty training and makes a great little tester. I also wouldnt mind having some of the hybrid diapers because of the pocket free design. Do you know which brands are good for those?…
  • I skimmed this thread and thought I woud revive it to see if anyone had used Sun Baby pocket diapers? They seem to be the cheapest option for pocket diapers and the review thus far look good, but I wanted to see if anyone here would like to chime in. I am only 12 weeks, but we are def CD and I want to get a leg up on my…
  • Adding these to my agenda for freezer foods before baby comes. I was a milk factory last time and hope to be again. I have a friend who is having twins and I would like to donate if she needs it. Thanks!~
  • I did with my daughter and it turned out to be fine. They will probably have you come in to have it checked though.
  • I am checking in once per week with my weight. I am eating maintence for the first trimester, adding 300 calories for the second and a couple hundred more per day in the third. I manually changed my goals and eat maintenence with my workouts already taken into consideration. For me that comes up to 2150 per day, no matter…
  • I would say it is a combo of bad food choices and not enough calories. Since you are so close to goal you may actually do better with a higher calorie goal, I know I did. In place of a roadmap is great or setting your mfp to lose .5 lb per week would be pretty effective. Good luck and hope you feel better!
  • I am 5'4" and 140 pounds and am eating at maintenence, which for me is 2150 per day. I plan to increase to 2400 per day at week 12.
  • I would use the Scooby calculator and eat TDEE for moderate activity, at the least, possibly more for the second and third trimesters. Either that or set mfp to maintain, but I have not used mfp that way, so someone else may be of more help, especially since you should eat a bit more in the second tri. Good luck!…
  • I am 5'4" and was maintaining 138 prior to pregnancy on about 2150 per day, so I am continuing this amount for the first trimester. I lost over 35 pounds eating at 1500, plus workout calories, so for me that would be far too low. I am nine weeks and have not gained yet. I will be adding 300 additional calories per day…
  • You are my inspiration!!!! I will have to come back in read this if I ever lose my "motivation". Honestly, I think motivation is overrated and what you really need is commitment and routine. It seems you have an abundance of both!! Here are my stats. I am nine weeks This is my second pregnancy I do a three day split…
  • I think that sounds like an awesome plan!
  • Ahh, valid point on the Vit K!! Breastmilk is some amazing stuff!
  • I was not educated on the subject and vaxed by daughter on schedule until the MMR, which I delayed for over a year. She also has not been vaxed for chicken pox. We plan on testing her for immunity because I have shingles and she nursed at night until recently (just turned three) and has likely been exposed to it either…
  • 30 years old 5'4" 138 pounds moderately active I started maintaining several months ago and am able to maintain easily at 2150-2200. Those are the numbers Scooby gave me, so I do not eat workout calories back. If I go below 2100 I start to lose slowly. I lost my weight never netting below bmr and ate over 2000 on most…
  • I am actually working on a lot of this myself for #2. We had sooo much unnecessary baby stuff with my daughter, so I only want what is needed this go around. We have decided on a Hygeia pump this time because they are WHO compliant AND have a closed system pump. I was not well versed with pumps the first go around and…
  • I agree with this, especially if working out. Anything below 2,000 for me is a pretty decent calorie deficit. One I wouldn't want to have while pregnant. I would use a site like Scooby ( http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ ) and eat at TDEE for whatever the activity level is. I like this way because you can eat…
  • I hit my goal weight about 4 months before I got pregnant, so I was already eating at maintenence which is 2150 for me (5'4", 138) I work out 4-5 days per week and there is no way I would eat less than that. I also went by the Scooby calculator for TDEE because MFP puts me a lot lower number for maintenence. I am looking…
  • Once I got close to goal I started LOVING the mirrors. They are a constant reminder of my success and I get a kick out of seeing myself lift things I never thought I would. I just feel so bad *kitten*. However, I am pregnant now and I will likely not enjoy them nearly as much in a few short months, though I am hoping I can…
  • 6 weeks with number 2 here! I always love friends I have things in common with!
