  • Homemade mayonnaise without so many ingredients would be even better, but the jarred stuff isn't that bad. I doubt you'll sit on the couch with a jar of mayo and a spoon lol. Embrace the fat :-)
  • I typically don't use much oil everyday, but I cook with either coconut oil, butter, or bacon grease. I use olive oil as well, but not for cooking. My main goal is to keep the ratio of omega 6: omega 3 as healthy as possible.
  • You could try making your favorite microwaveable vegetarian dishes from scratch. I agree with shopping the perimeter.
  • You're fine. Too much water means ingesting a large amount at a single time. Just don't get into any gallon chugging contests :-)
  • Your hormones don't know it's just calories in calories out. To the OP, the 1st response was great advice.
  • I agree that you should focus on overall carb intake and not sugar (as long as it's coming from natural sources).
  • Lower sugar fruits like berries and apples make great snacks. Not sure what type of diet you eat, but nuts, eggs, cheese, vegetables, and meat are all low carb/sugar. Even if the sugar comes from fruit, it's still sugar. Your body needs 0 g of added sugar to survive. It hinders fat loss which sucks because I love fruit!…
  • To your body, sugar is sugar. Fruit is not bad for you, but if you're trying to lose weight, sugar can hinder that. I love berries and apples. I eat more sugary fruits (bananas, peaches) only a few time per week. Bananas were harder to scale back on than baked goods!

  • When you don't get enough protein and enough fat, your cells suffer. They're called essential amino acids for a reason. Can't wait to see this guy in the years to come.
  • Yep! feel free to add :-)
  • Eggs! If you are not against eating legumes, I would increase your intake of beans. However, please be careful with increasing soy.
  • I'm a science person (professionally and just because I'm a science nerd lol), so I believe the best diet for my body is the one that makes the most sense biochemically. I have no morality issues, other than giving my body the best, that would persuade me any choose one style of diet over another. If you compare a vegan…
  • Wheat + your body = sugar --> (Insulin spikes + insulin dips)*multiple times per day --> weight gain. Check out some articles (from credible sources) on wheat's effect on blood sugar and your digestive system.
  • 40/30/30 f/p/c although I never eat the 30% carbs allotted.
  • Bananas will ALWAYS do it! I portion mine into 60g pieces and freeze them so they're ready for smoothies. For fruit, I eat berries or 1/2 serving of fruits with more sugar.
  • Sugar from fruit and milk is still sugar and can hinder weight loss. I switched to an unsweetened almond milk (vanilla) to knock out some of the added sugar in my diet. But, if you are losing weight and feel good, keep doing what you're doing!
  • Sounds delicious! I wouldn't change the bacon except to a nitrate free variety. If you're using a sweetener, I would stay away from artificial ones. I'd more likely use a less process real sugar or stevia in place of the white sugar. Happy cooking :-)
  • Eating low carb isn't feasible in the long run when your diet still has grains. If you're not eating wheat, oats, corn, etc, it's difficult to eat many of carbs. Non-starchy vegetables, proteins, and fats are all very low carb. A nice stir-fry or salad could be a great dinner! Try a breakfast with more protein and fat…
  • Mexican restaurants usually have some sort of steak served with rice, avocados, salsa...etc. Fajitas with grilled vegetables are also a great option. The chicken and guacamole will fill you up faster than the chips and tortillas! Enjoy your dinner :-)
  • I've had 680 cals today and still have dinner to go...no hunger at all. High fat, high protein, low carb will keep you full on fewer calories. By the way, I'm not trying to keep my calories so low, I'm just full!!
  • As far as diabetes prevention goes, sugar is sugar. Of course sugar from fruit is better than the sugar in a coke because it comes with fiber, but it is broken down the same way in your body. Same goes for other sources of sugar like bread and pasta. I have PCOS, so I have been watching my DIRECT sugar intake for years. It…
  • Ever tried a low carb/grain free diet? You would most likely have better results than with a low fat diet.
  • I found these articles to be a good starting place to understand the role of un/saturated fat and cholesterol in my diet. unsaturated fat section: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/fats/#axzz26OKJoplD saturated fat: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/saturated-fat-healthy/#axzz26OKJoplD cholesterol:…
  • I'm 4a/b or OS on LOIS. I like hair typing b/c it lets me compare products, techniques, and styles others use to my own hair. I've never seen it as a hierarchy as some do. I use terressentials shampoo, shea moisture moisturizers, my own whipped shea butter, various oils, and light gels. I like my routine to be as simple as…
  • I've used PP for 3 weeks. For the 1st week I stopped counting calories, but I became concerned that I wasn't eating enough protein and fiber. So now I do both. With exercise, I eat my 29 points everyday, rarely dipping into weekly or activity points. I still track what I eat because keeping up with macros is important to…
  • Hey guys! I'm joining kind of late, but I started RI30 yesterday. Jillian is one of my favorites. She's so tough and has a very smart mouth...I love it! I plan to push play 6 days/week and add 6W6P abs or Killer buns and thighs whenever I feel adventurous :-)
