I agree with gameover. Lifting weights can send your blood pressure soaring. Make sure you're breathing correctly and not holding your breath when you're lifting.

You can add muscle in a calorie deficit diet. I've greatly increased my strength and muscle mass while losing fat. Lift heavy weights and make sure that you're getting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. My weight loss has been slow but steady, and I'm losing inches where I don't want them (waist) and…

That's the way to go to build muscle and strength. Keep doing cardio to burn fat and get shredded.
-
It's probably a good idea to do both. I do an upper body/lower body split, and try to alternate workouts. If I lift heavy on an upper body day (5-10 reps), my next upper body day is lighter weights and more reps (10-15 reps). That way you hit both your fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers, increasing both strength and…

I'm good either way. Your reasoning confuses me, though. I daresay that your husband has probably seen your "flab" on numerous occasions, and most people tend to sweat when they workout. What you look like when you workout should be the least of your concerns, unless you're one of those neurotic "princesses" that have to…

Looks like you've got almost everything covered. I would add some dumbbell shrugs, but that's about it. You might want to vary your rep ranges every other workout (high reps/lower weight one day, lower reps/higher weight the next) to change things up a bit. I would also try to include squats and deadlifts instead of leg…

I see nothing wrong with eating after 7 pm. Your body burns calories 24 hours a day, so why is 7 pm a magic number? I eat when I'm hungry. I just try to avoid foods that are full of carbs and unhealthy fats. Nuts are a great late night snack. Protein, fiber and healthy fats keep you full, so you won't wake up in the middle…

I'm ashamed to admit that there's a couple of Nickelback songs that I don't completely dislike. I'm sorry!

When you lose weight, you usually lose one pound of muscle foe every three pounds of fat. Muscle burns fat, so the less muscle you have, the harder it is to lose fat. By strength training, you can maintain, or even increase your lean muscle mass, which makes it easier to burn fat. For the best results, do both cardio and…

Yep. same here. Losing weight very slowly but gaining muscle at the same time. I only weigh myself every 3-4 weeks. I use a mirror and measuring tape to gauge my progress. I can see a steady improvement in my muscular definition, even though though the scale says I'm not losing much, so I'm happy. I've added almost two…

The shots are of a hormone taken from the urine of pregnant women. It has been proven to be ineffective for weight loss. The reason people lose weight so fast is because they're on a 500 calorie a day diet. This diet has been around since the 1970's, but has recently become popular again. It's great if you have money to…

What foods are high in potassium? Potassium rich foods include: Bananas Oranges Apricots Avocado Strawberries Potatoes Tomatoes Cucumber Cabbage Cauliflower Chard Bell pepper Eggplant Squash Crimini mushrooms Brussels sprouts Turmeric Parsley Spinach Broccoli Tuna Halibut

Eggs are great! Make yourself an omelette with some cheese, mushrooms, chicken, or whatever else you like. High protein, low carb, and quick and easy to make! Use egg whites if you want to cut down on fat (but it's healthy fat, anyways).

I just watch what I eat and exercise regularly. "Diets" don't work. You lose weight while you're on them, but you gain that weight right back (and then some!) as soon as you go off them and start eating regularly again. Simply reduce your portions, cut back on the crap foods, and get some exercise (cardio and strength…

Mine have firmed up a bit, but I think they're getting hairier!

It depends on your goals, I guess. I usually drink a casein shake at night before bed because it's a slowly digested protein, so it gives my muscles a steady supply of protein while I sleep. I usually have a whey protein shake after my strength training because it's a very fast digesting protein. You could drink the casein…

Think of it as your job. I try to spend an hour in the morning and at least an hour in the afternoon working out, when I'm between jobs. I'm lucky too, that when I am working, my workplace has a pretty good gym that I can use. In addition, I clean the house, cut the grass, shovel snow, etc. If I don't get my workout in I…

Spot reducing is impossible, as you probably know. Cardio and diet will help you lose the flab, but keep up the strength training to build muscle and give you a more toned look. I wouldn't waste your time doing a bunch of ab specific workouts, as they don't burn many calories compared to exercises like squats, deadlifts,…

Great information. I wish more people would do a little research on their own before they waste their money and risk their health going for a "quick fix"!

One pound of fat is about 3500 calories. Take the number of creamers you use in a day, multiply by how many calories are in one, and then multiply that by 365. Divide the total by 3500, and voila! That's how many pounds you could lose in a year by cutting out coffee creamers, theoretically.
-
Why don't you try a bit of strength training? There are tons of great upper body exercises you can do. If you're doing strictly cardio workouts, you're only getting half the benefits of exercising.
-
You can't spot reduce or choose where you want to lose the fat. Cardio workouts will help to burn off the fat, while strength training will help build muscle to firm up those areas and boost your metabolism. Chinups, bent over rows, and lat pulldowns work great to build strong back muscles. Squats, deadlifts and lunges are…

It works while you're on it. It's impossible to live on a 500 calorie a day diet and not lose weight! The pregnant woman's urine that you're injecting into your body has been proven to have no effect on weight loss, but the severly calorie restricted diet will help you lose both fat and muscle at a rapid pace. The biggest…

I do one day lower body, one day upper body and one day abs and core muscles. That way I'm giving my muscles at least three days to rest before I hit them again. After I'm done one "cycle", I start over again. I usually give myself two complete rest days per week, where I do no strength training.
-
Wow! Great job!

Personally, I don't worry about it. I watch what I eat and get plenty of exercise, so I really don't stress too much over a day that my calories might be over what they should be. If you're eating a sundae every day, then you might have problems, but once in a while isn't going to hurt you. Your diet should be something…

If you're using the default setting for protein, use that as a daily minimum to be reached each day, not a maximum! You can quite safely double that amount, or even more! That being said, this diet doesn't sound terribly healthy for anyone. As somebody else mentioned, six weeks with no essential fats? Hope you like dry…

Why would there be a problem with more protein?

Have you just started an exercise routine? If so, relax. Your muscles tend to retain extra water to help them recover when they're used in different or more strenuous ways, such as when you start a new workout routine. After a couple of weeks, your muscles will be used to the extra work and the water weight will vanish.
-
Exactly. When you put more stress on your muscles than they are used to (like a new or more challenging workout routine), your muscles retain extra water to help them recover. This usually lasts a couple of weeks until your muscles become used to the more vigourous activity. Don't worry, your weight will start dropping…
