  • Yeah and I also allow my fitbit to add and subtract exercise calories to my total. Right now it is cancelling out the workout I entered for tonight because it can tell I haven't done it yet. So sometimes when I walk 14000 or 15000 steps at work but don't report it, fitbit does the addition. If it feels I over represented…
  • I checked around a bit. I'm thinking I am over representing calories burned during exercise. I also notice that many of the people who feel I am eating too little are eating less than I am. At least gross as opposed to net.
  • Smile and say "interesting". That's it. Unsaid....Interesting that you feel the need to belittle someone.
  • Thanks everyone. Appreciate the input. Somewhat embarrassed. Didn't realize I was that extreme. (Fades into background). Will do more research, read more threads, come up with a healthier plan, good work. Bye.
  • The crackers and almond butter were a binge item...not proud of it. It was chocolate chips the night before. I was doing wine every night for a while as well. I struggle with time management and a workplace that is.... Need to sort out how to be a full time single dad with a 1.5 hour commute still. I use that to…
  • I get more than 10000 steps a day on my pedometer so not all those calories come from P90X. "narcissism" - absolutely . I wrestle with that, although if you've met me the best lifelong description of me is "one ugly sob". The "obese" people in my life are the ones that are abusive; my way of having some toehold I guess.…
  • I'm not suffering. And I am no where close to thin. I do P90X everyday and usually run or rollerblade. I am 50 years old but I can hang with the 20 somethings for cardio and strength. All of my health markers except stress are good. I just want to be lean. You know, not self-conscious about how I look.
  • Count the calories. Your body burns food or food stored as fat for fuel. If you create a deficit you lose if you have a surplus you store it. We all burn the same number of calories for similar effort or activity level. The two pounds weight gain is equivalent to a litre of water or whatever meals you eat in a day. Measure…
  • Your body runs on fuel. Fuel = calories from wherever your body can get them, Eat fewer calories than your body needs to fuel the daily effort, and your body will be forced to burn fat as fuel. There is no magic or shortcut. The human body is hardwired not to starve and doesn't need much to operate so don't be surprised…
  • I take that as "I can't lose weight and you are doing it through hard work so I'll try and bring you down and make myself feel better by pretending like I know what is healthy". It doesn't wash with me. The last time I was told that I lifted my shirt, grabbed a roll of fat and said "Yeah I am concerned too. Concerned…
  • Your body burns what ever is available as fuel. It prefers food because that is safer. But it does not discriminate about the source. It will burn according to your activity ie: living, exercising etc. If you eat less than it needs to fuel the effort then your body will burn itself for fuel. It may try to slow your…
  • Reality bites. Your body consumes calories to maintain weight. If you eat too many you store them as fat, if you eat too few you dig in to your fat stores. Use MFP and track EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth. If you stick to the limits you have to lose weight. It's just a matter of how badly you want it. If you aren't…
  • Wow. That is how much weight I am trying to lose. You look fabulous.
  • This may sound stupid but I limit what I can get when I have an urge. I carry no cash. All groceries on credit. I can't buy chocolate bars from the machine at work if I have no cash. I can't eat all the chocolate chips, maple syrup, peanut butter or pizza pops if there are none in the house. It doesn't stop the binges but…

  • Don't let him get to you. You need to be doing this for yourself. Don't react when he goes off. Stick to your plan. If I am forced to react to things like that I usually try to remain outwardly emotionless and say "interesting" and then go about my business. The message is that I have heard the input, am considering it,…

  • Do as many as you can, and then do as many as you can just lowering yourself down.
  • I found that bit on sugar interesting. Any reason in particular you feel that there is some misrepresentation of the sugar issue? I cut only sugar as much as I could and lost a lot of weight so I'm curious as to whether maybe I misunderstood the reason I lost weight given that I matched the lost sugar calories with other…
