Intermittent fasting
I am at 160 lbs down from a previous normal of around 175. Wholly attributable to a 19/5 eating pattern. I did it to make weight for a Jiu jitsu tournament and am keeping it off. About time. At 54 you have to wonder why it took so long. Psychologically it works for me because it simplifies the internal dialogue. Outside my…

Intermittent fasting works...for me
Because outside of my eating window there are no choices to be made. Been eating in a 5 hour eating window for about 2 months. BMI now in the normal range. Snoring has stopped. Can stand up from cross legged without using my hands. Have gone from 34 inch pants to loose 32. Lots of energy. But...not eating any added sugar…

Intermittent fasting
Doing it. 5 hour eating window. Plus no sweets. It's been a month. Makes me realize that getting to optimum weight is much harder than I thought but once you make a lifestyle change it gets easier.

Having a motivator
I registered for an April jiu jitsu tournament back in January. I need to be approximately 160 Lbs or less. It drove me to eat better, and exercise more as I prepared. I learned that I could be fit but fat and that I could be thin and out of shape. I also learned that weight is primarily a function of what I put in my…

Day 30, approx 11 lbs
Have been intermittent fasting for 30 days. Went from 176 to 165 lbs. Using calipers 19.8% to 15.5% body fat. Target is 155 lbs, 10% body fat. Doing the Wendler 5 / 3 /1 weight lifting program, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and commuting by bike to work. I wish I had done this years ago. I feel freakin fabulous. The Fast Five diet…

Rowing with a fitbit and a polar HRM
Rowed 8 sets of 500m intervals on my Concept 2 ERG with 5 min rest between sets. All out and I was THAT close to throwing up on my last set and had to back off for the last 80m. Fit bit = basically resting calorie equivalent Polar HRM = 469 calories. So I'm calling rowing a low impact sport. The fitbit adjustment to MFP…

New job
-Old job 35 km away versus New job 5.1 km away. -Old commute via car versus new commute walking. -Steps per day now = 20000. -General feeling after two weeks = tired but WAY less stressed. Sleeping much better. -Lbs lost since Monday = 4. -Diet = Fast Five. Absolutely zero hunger in fasting window. Groovy.

Sugar, Sodium and Fiber
Is it just me or do other people have a hard time staying within the guidelines for Sugars, Sodium and Fiber? It seems that everything is salty or sugary and there is rarely enough fiber. Eating a lower calorie diet is a real challenge.

When does it become the "norm"
I get tired of tracking all my calories and exercise. I get tired of being "good" and not eating pure crap. I constantly hear oatmeal raisin cookies, red wine and butter chicken calling my name. Sometimes I want to forget about exercise for a while. Is there a point where "lifestyle change" ends and the new lifestyle is…

We actually need SO little to survive
So my net calorie goal is 1000 per day. Somewhere in my calculations I am missing something on the number of calories I am eating or on how many calories I am actually burning because my weight is stable. SO... I guess I'll have to try and eat less. But I feel like I am eating so little right now (even though I am not…

What I want
What I want is to be in control. As it is I can't stop eating at times. Not that far overweight. At 5'9" and 172 lbs I am just over the top of normal for BMI. I'm medium framed so looking to put myself square in the middle of the range (21.7). That means I need to weigh 147 lbs. So I need to lose 25 lbs. That said, I do…
