I second Wait Wait and Stuff You Should Know. I'm going check out those others. If you like to laugh and don't mind a bit of swearing (but not overly vulgar), check out The Flop House and Read It & Weep. The first is hosted by two Daily Show writers and friend of theirs. The second is hosted by three comedians/English…

Thanks! Now to overcome my shyness of meeting new people and insecurities of my cycling abilities! This will be a good exercise in both of those!

Are you in Eastern Iowa by chance? I'm looking for a team to break into.

I was going to ask this very same question! Yes, what is Scooby? And how long have you been eating increased calories? I'm curious to see your outcome. Has one completed the program with the higher calories and experienced results?

Cedar Rapids/Iowa City girl myself! Feel free to add! I love local motivation :)

Look how many of us there are! :) 35 (almost said 34, after 31 I kind of lost track of my age!) and loving every minute! ~Paige

Does your gym have a Body Pump class? I started there because I was (and still am) shy about lifting on the main floor. It did wonders to show me proper form and help me fix it! I too have a bum knee and back so I had to be careful with some things. Otherwise, you might try asking a gym employee if they can give you a tour…

I agree with all of the above. I switch between my chucks and my fivefingers, depending on what I grab first that day. I keep the laces looser at the toe on my Converse so my toes can spread out though. I personally prefer my Fivefingers because I can "grab" the floor better and situated my weight easier. That said, I…

Hi all! Wow, these threads can get away from you fast! I'm new to the group and site so I still feel a little overwhelmed by everything and not really knowing anyone. Hopefully that will change in the coming weeks! My two-week challenge (great idea by the way): 1. Start treadmilling again, even if I have to start at the…

Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and the group. I'd love to partake in weekly challenges. I keep trying to find challenges, but I stumble upon them too late. I need to start my exercise routine now before the next semester starts, otherwise I'll find way too many excuses to avoid the gym. Luckily I remember what that rush…

I used to be super-healthy and fit, I even won a flat-stomach contest with my skinny (in my mind) roommates a few years ago! What happened? I don't know. I think my body or horomones changed and one day I just started gaining weight and couldn't get it off. It wasn't much, I was still trim. In 2011 I start grad school and…

We're pretty close...I'm a few inches shorter, but our weight goals are the same - Dare I say we may be twins?
-
Too late to find a twin? age: 35 HW: 160 (in 2003) LW: 117 (in 2008 CW: 140 GW: 120 No kids, no bf/gf/spouse, so conceivably lots of exercise time right? Ha! Grad school takes care of that. Twin, oh twin, where are you?
-
Good luck! I'm 5"2' too, highest weight of 160, current weight of 140, goal of 120. I once weighed 117 for about a week, but couldn't maintain it! :)

You are telling my story! I quit smoking 7 years ago, and got fit and healthy. I ate like a Whole Foods ad, couldn't go more than a day without a good, sweaty workout, and was quite svelte - flat stomach even! I'm 34 and started grad school two years ago, since then I've fallen victim to the freshman 15, or 20! It's time…
