  • I have a "The Biggest Loser Digital Food Scale" and it works like a charm. Its inexpensive too (under 20 US dollars). I did some research on it before buying, and this food scale has a lot of praise. I found mine and Bed Bath and Beyond but you can also get it at Walmart.…
  • I second this. I am *horrible* at drinking enough liquids. i just don't like gulping water. But, I've found that if I keep a water bottle within reach, I'll sip at it just because its there, and within a couple hours its empty. There are many powdered flavorings for water that you could try as well. They're usually 10…
  • 22 miles ran this week That's 92 miles ran this month
  • Yes! I am an uber geek! My username, Nauriel R, is elvish (the R is short for Rochnur, which means "horse friend". Nauriel means 'Fire maiden") A bit geeky, I know, but I'm proud of it :) I read the LotR books about once a year I even taught myself how to write in Tengwar, the elvish alphabet. I'm best at the Sindarin…
  • Guys, the location of this story is real. THIS STORY TAKES PLACE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!!! Like, I've walked to Fox Valley Mall. That's how close I live. And the Greek restaurant is called Naf Naf Grill. It's an adorable restaurant that I've wanted to check out for quite awhile. *Wanted* to. Past tense. Ugh....What has been…
  • Haha, I guess I have to get out more on these threads. The vast majority of my brain snickered when I wrote "anal" but the small part that tries to maintain a mature appearance said "no no no, that is a totally acceptable use of that word" Its good to know that there are many other on this site whose minds reside soundly…
  • Wow! That's a cool find! Of course, there's less frosting per serving than there is of nutella. They both say 2T is a serving, but 2 T of the frosting weighs 24 grams, and 2T of nutella weighs 37 grams. That means there's 35% less frosting per serving. 37 grams of the frosting would clock in at 154 calories. Which is still…
  • Yup! I approve of this advice.
  • First of all, I'm sorry about the tough times you're going through. Life can be a real b**** sometimes. Second of all, I would like to agree with everyone else and say that yes, you do have a nice pair of tatas. Mother Nature must have been very kind to you. And I'm saying this as a straight female. Way to go on that!…
  • You're probably thinking of a tablespoon, which has 120 calories. A teaspoon only has 40 calories. I'm sorry for picking at minutia and I hope it doesn't make me sound rude. That wasn't my intention. I just wanted to clear things up :)
  • I've been doing this recently, and I've noticed that it helps quite a bit. Its no miracle solution, but I find that the water fills me up just enough that its easier to eat only the amount of food that I need to satisfy my hunger, instead of continuously picking at food throughout the time I'm seated at the family dinner…
  • You know, I believe you, but when I come back from a run soaked in sweat I feel victorious. If I ever came back from a run drenched head to toe in pee, I'd be more than a little irritated. You might even say I'd be "pissed off!" I'd say I'm sorry for making such a bad pun, but I'm really not.
  • Yeah, I know that's important as well, and I'm not concerned about inadequate sodium or anything. I'm just curious :)
  • I drink mostly water after I run, although sometimes I'll add crystal light to my bottle. However, even though I drink at least a bottle of water after I work out, I drink little else throughout the day, so my water consumption is far short of what it should be. (I try to carry a water bottle around with me, and that…
  • I mix the PB2 with one tablespoon of cocoa powder, a packet of truvia, mix in some water so that its a bit on the runny side, and then dip a banana in it. Oh. My. Word. Its like dipping a banana in a liquid reese's peanut butter cup.
  • I have not tried that. Freezing may have some effect on the texture, especially since there are quite a few vegetables in it, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how that would effect the cooking time. If you freeze it and then cook it, tell me how it turns out! Yes it is. You can use fresh corn if you want, but its easier…
  • I guess I'm weird, but I prefer skim milk over full fat. i was raised on skim milk, and that's just what tastes right to me. I have nothing against full fat milk, except that it tastes really thick, so I don't want to drink as much of it. As for yogurt, I'm pretty weird in that regard as well. I do not have very discerning…
  • 7/16: 6 miles 7/18: 6 miles 7/20: 12 miles That's 24 miles this week That's 70 miles total. Which puts me at my goal. I guess I erred on the side of too much caution. Can I bump my goal up to 85, just to give me some more motivation?
  • I'm sorry, hun. I've had just about every orthodontic device at one point or another, and none of them are comfortable (I once had an emotional breakdown because I tried to eat macaroni and cheese a couple hours after getting an expander, but the darned contraption made it too awkward. I was young though, so I guess its…
  • Thank you! This looks like a good resource. Also, if anybody has anything else, I'd like to add that I want to focus mostly on upper body strength.
  • I wouldn't be too worried about the sugars consumed when you eat fruit. They're simple sugars, yes, but act like complex carbs and are digested slowly. Basically, they won't spike and crash your blood sugar like plain sugar can. Fruits are also *filled* with other nutritional benefits, like fiber, vitamins, and minerals.…
  • I don't think so, no. I'm sure you've heard the "Everything in moderation" mantra so many times you want to beat the next person who says it over the head, but there is some truth to it. as long as it fits into your calorie goal, and it makes you satisfied, then eat it. Yeah, most chips aren't healthy, but that isn't…
  • July 9: 6 miles July 11: 6 miles July 13: 11 miles Total miles run this week: 23 Total miles this month: 46
  • Agreed. He's old enough to be my father, and not exactly what you'd call to be classically attractive, but there's something very charismatic about him.
  • Yessss!!!! I love this show too. Tim Roth is amazing! As for my favorite shows...well, I can't pick just three, so I'm gonna list a couple extra. 1)Doctor Who 2)Community 3)Farscape 4)Supernatural 5) The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
  • I still exercise despite the heat, but I can definitely feel it throwing off my groove. I sweat a lot more, my pace is slower, and I'm more exhausted by the end. But lord, opening the front door at the end of a hot, sweaty run and entering an air conditioned house is on of the best feelings.
  • 7/4: 6 miles 7/6: 10.5 miles That's 22.5 miles so far.
  • Or the goblins. Those things are scary!
  • MFP doesn't have an exercise option for zumba. I used to take a lot of zumba classes, and would just log it under dancing (but instead of "general", I think I chose "aerobic") Zumba is pretty popular, so that might be one reason. Another possibility is that your friends go out to clubs, and dance there. As someone who went…

  • I read somewhere that eating simple carbs (like fruit and processed grains) are the best foods to consume if you run relatively quickly after eating, because they are digested quickly. I find this works well for me (whether its actually true, or just the placebo effect, I don't know) I'm in a deep, deep rut and pretty much…
