I had this too! Wore my HRM to the gym for the first time today and it was recording a higher calorie expenditure than the treadmill.. quite a bit higher in fact! My heart rate was really high though because I'm still so unfit.

Thanks for the replies to those of you that answered my question! :) I'm not totally sedentary but I don't exercise consistently enough to add it to my TDEE calculation. Not the OP but this always confuses me... my BMR is 1440 but my TDEE is 1720, so eating -500 under my TDEE would mean I was under my BMR (1220 vs 1440). Which do I go for?

I used to use a different site for tracking my calories and they would give you a range to eat within each day (i.e. 1200 - 1400) rather than one specific number. I only go under by 50 at most, and not very often because the app gives me that angry message about not eating enough! :) As for exercise - mostly cardio, some strength but I rarely put the strength exercises into the app.
