Congrats!!! That's awesome! And.. the weight on the DL thing... For me, my pic was taken ~70lbs ago.. the pic looks different than I do now too ;)

I started this wearing a 40-42 in jeans.. I have an old pair of jeans that I absolutely loved to wear with my boots, but they were a long shot (size 34 waist). To my surprise, I could put them on last weekend. They're a tad snug here and there, but the fact that I could put them on without sucking in or struggling at all…

Congrats on your NSV!! I'm at the same spot you are myself.. I'm not losing much on the scale, but I'm losing inches. Keep on keepin' on... the rest will come!

Well done! Always feels good being able to put on a nice suit and not having to shop in the 'big and tall' section too!

Nice to meet ya.. I'm a yank from across the pond, but we're all working toward the same goal. I'll send ya an invite.

I remember what it was like growing up heavy.. Kids are not nice. I didn't want my kids to grow up that way. On the other hand, I didn't want to be one of those 'do as I say, not as I do' parents either. So, that was the tipping factor in my decision. I'm losing weight (and my wife is too) so that we can live and lead by…

Well done! You look incredible!

Being heavy my entire life, I can tell you that losing weight is not only challenging, it's almost a little disappointing at times too. If you see others lose weight and they look instantly fabulous, then you lose weight and you've gotta wait a few more months to wait for your skin to shrink back up and/or have surgery to…

Wow... incredible transformation! Great job! That takes dedication and drive to accomplish something like that.

Yes.. but. The Wii will only stream in Standard Definition.. with the AppleTV or Roku, they'll stream in full HD if you have the bandwidth to download/stream at that speed. Also, if you buy/rent/whatever stuff on either of them, it plays back in HD. Another option is to buy one of the newer BluRay players to go with it.…

Check NewEgg and TigerDirect... they're always blowing out TVs and such.. I dunno if it'll be a 'smart tv', but you can turn any TV into a SmartTV with a AppleTV box or a Roku for about 100 bucks.

Do you do your body measurements also? I only ask because I was stuck at ~235 for a month and a half, but I dropped a full pant size during that time. The number on the scale isn't the only indicator. As a guy who's been heavy his entire life, I'm not in a big race to lose the weight. I've finally come to the mindset that…

I still occasionally have a beer when we go camping or something, but I quit drinking regularly years ago. Most of my reasons were my children and the impact it could have on me if I didn't quit. Only word of advice I can offer: Surround yourself with supportive people.

This. Currently.... walking mashed potatoes.

I've always been heavy, but I've always been active. I was always the fat kid that refused to quit and refused to give up... unless it meant getting serious about losing weight. At age 34, we had just gone and had family pictures done and I went and volunteered for Watch D.O.G.S. at my daughter's school. Looking at the…

I had the same experience. I've switched over to MapMyRun now and it's done everything I wanted to. I might give it another shot though with my new phone. Maybe the GPS interface and program updates are better now.

Great job! You look like a whole new guy! You probably feel like one too! Amazing work!

Yep.. born and raised in Topeka. I live up around Kansas City now.

Sorry to hear about your mom. At least you're seeing a lesson to be learned from it though. Good luck with your weight loss. You know what needs to be done. We're all here for ya too.

Last year (before I started): This year (halfway):

Definitely know what the portion control thing is all about. I grew up in a 'better clean your plate' household and they'd pile it on. Oh.. and trying to figure out portions in a restaurant are fun too. I usually try to overestimate rather than under. Glad you've joined the site!

Hey.. glad you're here and trying to reach your goals! Friend request sent.

Welcome to MFP! Friend request sent. It's always great to have more supporters in this journey!

I started out doing more elliptical and walking at first. Around 250lbs I started running. I did a c25k type program to get my running endurance up. I'm ~230lbs now and I'm running 3-3.5mi 3x a week now. It takes time and persistence.

I've replaced most of my chips with fresh veggies and hummus or some kind of light healthy dip. If its the crispy crunch you like, I get the Baked variety of Lay's or the Kashi... pita chips I think they are. The Special K chips mentioned above are good.. but dangerous.. get out a serving and hide the box

This. Well done!

Great thread!!

Buy a small SOHO Firewall/Router with logging capabilities. Use the proxy feature and force all web traffic through that link. Unless they use their cell phone.. you'll know. Otherwise, yes.. I agree with you completely. If we want our kids to be open and honest with them, we should do the same with them.

I'll send a friend request to ya.. I started with ~120lbs total to my final goal. I've lost about half of it. Really.. it comes down to being determined, having a "Can-Do" attitude, and never giving up. Yep.. there will be tough days.. there will be days where ya completely blow it.. shake it off, try again tomorrow. If…

I'm up in Kansas.. we're not deep south, but we've definitely got some hillbillies. Most of my family is from Tennessee and Georgia though
