There are several things I noticed: Water consumption? No exercise? Fruits? Veggies? I see a lot of complex carbohydrates (rice, pasta, etc). Just because you are "allowed" to eat 1500 calories, doesn't mean they should be filled with sweets. Don't skip meals. Try to eat at regular times, and have snacks in between. Those…

I've only lost 22 in 4 months, a far cry from the 2 lbs per week as I set as my goal. And, I too get frustrated when the scale doesn't budge, even when I've kept within my calorie range and have been exercising (for me, it's walking or bike riding)...BUT, I remain firm and consistent because I know it didn't pack on…

GREAT JOB!!!! No achievement is small, when it's something you've worked for. You have every right to be proud of yourself! Way to go!! Now, think of another "small achievement" that you want to work toward and work on getting there. That's how I've gotten to where I am, I call them baby steps-but it's leading to an…

I know this is gonna sound yucky, but it truely is a family favorite (we recently found my son is allergic to fish, so switched to canned chicken)....Great for lunch or hot summer evening. 1 lage can tuna, drained 1 can string beans 1 can peas 1 tbsp red wine vinegar 2 tbsp olive oil Mix together, chill, and marinate for…

Everyone has their pwn opinions as to when and how often. Some say once a week, others every couple of days, others yet say once a week. Personally and since I use a digital scale, even the amount of clothes you wear will vary by tenths of a pound, so I keep it as routine as possible. I weigh myself every day....before…

I've been using this website (fitnessblender.com) for my lower back, which is very weak. Now, while the video says it's for sciatica, it really stretches the lower back .. and you only do what you can. It's still tough for me, but I can feel it getting better.…

Instead of going all out from the beginning, I've been making changes slowly. Before changing the way I ate, I began walking (I could only go about 10-15 minutes in the beginning)...then I cut out soda (I was a BIG, HUGE diet soda drinker). Eventually, I gave up fatty/salty snacks, wine (which I LOVE)...and try to eat as…

Actually, I'm 5'2" -medium build (I think, never really knew how to figure that out) -currently 185, size 16 pants -goal right now is 145, it's where I was when I married my husband 12 years ago. I may decide to go lower once I get there, however. -I'm almost 51 (in just under 2 weeks) -I have two children (my 24 year old…

For me the list is endless: Picked on as a kid (bullied, I guess) Screwed around in college when I should have been studying/learning and ended up dropping out Had two kids and thought that overeating was acceptable Husband left me and the kids when they were young (5 and 9 years old) Found a great guy who is too-freaking…

I like to have a cup of lowfat yogurt with fresh fruit topped with some granola. An egg-white omelete with cut up veggies. For variety put it on a 100-calorie English muffin. A string cheeese stick with some ham or turkey rolled around it. 1/3 - 1/2 cup old fashioned quick oats cooked with skim milk topped with fresh…

YAY for you for setting goals! In my own journey, I realize the reason I couldn't lose weight was because I didn't have a clear goal and I didn't have a plan to get their either. I think that will help you so much in the long run. As so many people have already stated, don't get discouraged when you're not losing fast…

If you've been at this for jsut about a week, you need to give your body time to adjust. Lots of changes happening that it just isn't used to. Are you exercising? Drinking lots of water? Avoiding prepared foods, caffeine, soda/pop, alcohol? All of these will affect weight loss. I've been serious since mid-April. I've lost…

Hang in there. I've tried to lose so many times that I gave up. But this time (back in April) I made up my mind to stick to it, no matter what! I tracked calories, I began to increase exercise time (which for me is walking), I slowly began to give up things that I knew were unhealthy (wine, soda, chips, etc) and began…

I think coming right out and ASKing for cash is pretty tacky. However, where I live, cash wedding gifts are pretty common. And can be pretty pricy at that...your gift is "supposed' to cover the cost of your plate at the reception! In my parts, it's downright expensive!!

2-12 oz cups, with real sugar (abt 1 tsp each) with Fat Free Half-and-Half No more, but not a necessity to get going or to keep going. I delight in real sugar in my coffee, don't care for skim or lowfat milk...but the FF half and half are satisfying!

I hadn't given a thought to the cravings. It's definitely something I will begin to keep track of, but off the top of my head, I think I do crave carbs/sweets more so...as I have this past week (and thankfully didn't give in to, until last night with a slice of cheesecake  ). I do plan to stick to it, regardless.…

I've only been at this for a couple of months. I was a regular soda drinker...not a lot, but at least a glass or two every day. Slowly, I gave it up. Now, all I drink is water or herbal tea (which I make ahead of time and drink it iced). I figured that I'm trying so hard to be healthy. Soda is nothing but chemicals and/or…

I've never had a problem with my Sundays, but then our church routines looks like they may be a bit different. There are lots of ways you can work it out so that you stay on track. First, why not switch your "off-day" to Sunday in the summer if that is when you spend a good part of the day there. If there are…

WOW! You're exactly where I am!! I'm 50 and I too was married 12 years ago at 145 (or so). I've let myself get to just over 200! EEK! But I have a new mindset going into it this time, and I feel succes coming! But not success in getting to a goal weight, success in learning how to be healthy! I plan to be a 'fit ' grandma…

Welcome!! Not quite sure what you consider a 'newbie' - I just joined in April of 2012. I feel like a newbie too! Give yourself some time to adjust your calorie intake. That's what I did for the first week- I needed to see what habits needed to be broken. Slow changes made it easier for me. First thing I gave up was soda.…

Hello Ladies, I turned 50 last summer (WOO)! Life's been slinging mud at me for some years and I have pretty much found the bottom of the mudpile! It's time to take back my life, live it to its fullest, and be the woman that I was created to be!! I've been lurking on MFP since mid-April. SW-204 CW-190 GW-145 I think the…

Please be sure to log your morning coffee! I also have 2 cups each day but remember that sugar and milk both have calories that, over time, add up!! Also, be sure to measure the milk, as what seems to be a couple of tablespoons, can quickly turn into something much more! Just speaking from experience. I understand your…

After my first child was born, I was having difficulty nursing and thought he wasn't getting enough breast milk. So I took him to the doctor where they weighed him both before and after nursing...he gained 4 oz!!! I was amazed that that small amount showed....BUT, I learned that even drinking a 12 oz cup of coffee will…

As with any "fast food" restaurant, you have to be careful with what you order. Get salads with dressings on the side...hold the bready toppings...My fave is the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad...hold the wonton chips and dressing on the side. I always dip my fork in the dressing first, then into the salad. It's just enough…

At 50 years old, my goal is a clothing size, not weight. In my younger days, when I weighed in the 120 range, everyone told me I was too thin. I think I'd be comfortable in a size 10/12 (that's my aim for now), with a weight around 145. When I reach that I'll adjust my goal.
