  • Yes it does! The cook books aren't too shabby either.
  • Here is a whole page of lentil recipes: http://www.theppk.com/tag/lentils/
  • When I first started going to the gym I felt sort of that way, but not any more. I realized that no one there is perfect, and most everyone there is trying to improve fitness, just like me. Except the people who take up space on the machines while doing nothing but texting. I still haven't figured out why they're at the…
  • Happy Birthday! You've done a fabulous job of transforming yourself. Keep it up!
  • Patience, grasshopper. You didn't put all the weight on in one week. Stay with the plan and good things will happen.
  • I met a guy once for coffee, and all he would talk about was how his ex cheated on him with some guy she met on line, and he knew that because he hacked into all of her email accounts...I could not get away from Mr. stalking stalker fast enough.
  • Hi there! I'm from Houston and about your age. Add me as a friend if you like. I always love to meet people from H-Town!
  • Thighs and upper arms.
  • Hey. I live in Houston. Sometimes on the weekends, if I wake up early enough, I walk/jog outside. Otherwise, the only heat I endure during my work out is walking from the parking garage to the gym after work. I got lucky tonight. The stationary bike where I chose to do my cardio was right under the ac vent. Heaven!
  • HI. I'm plant-powered. I was a vegetarian for about 15 years, and 3 months ago gave up cheese, which was my last lacto thing. I feel much better, but I think that has something to do with the fact I don't tolerate milk products very well. I'm trying to eat raw more, but between work and the gym I don't always have time. I…
  • Biking, but only if its interval so that it goes by faster. I'd rather do circuit training with weights any day. I find any kind of long cardo session boring.
  • You cannot spot reduce. When you start training, your muscles become more obvious (but you don't necessarily gain muscle) which makes your thighs seem larger because they have a layer of fat over muscle. The way you slim down thighs is to eat at a deficit while you train. Lowering body fat % will make you leaner overall,…
  • He's a loser. And I don't mean in a good way. You're too good for him!
  • Seitan, for sure. Also tempeh and lentils. I also like Vega One, but I've been buying Lifetime Life's Basic which I also love, but it isn't quite as expensive. Also, quinoa has a good bit of protein.

  • Yes, I do it all the time. Especially at Whole Foods, where people buy all kinds of healthy and not-so-healthy things.
  • I have it in my neck. First, you may want to check with your doctor or neurologist about it. I am cleared by my neurologist to weight train, but I can't use a bar behind my neck for squats. I also do yoga 2 or 3 times a week to help with flexibility, and I find it really helps.
  • I can only do assisted at the point. I guess that means none.

  • I log every day. Most days I don't go over, although I've been known to have more than one glass of wine on the weekends. :)
  • I'm 5'11" and i usually do 1500-1900 per day, depending on my workout. I do weights and cardio 3-4 days a week and yoga on a couple of the other days. I'm losing about 1 pound a week which is just how I want to do it.
  • You're looking great! Congrats, and keep up the good work.
  • Four weeks for me. Going to the gym and lifting weights has made a big difference. That, and having a personal trainer to keep me from slacking.
  • We have cakes and cup cakes at work all of the time. When I know its someone's birthday or whatever, I bring an apple with some almond butter or a chocolate protein bar, and eat that while everyone eats the cake.
  • I agree with you completely. That's why I prefer to say my diet is plant-powered. I'm not a big fan of dairy, but that's a personal choice. I think people shoudl eat whatever they want, for whatever reason, and no one should be judged for it. If someone asks my advice I'll be happy to share, but I won't dole it out…
  • It depends on your goals and how heavy you are lifting. If you are new to lifting I'm going to guess that your "heavy" is not so much, so doing full body workouts is not a bad idea, so long as you don't injure yourself, and take proper recovery time. If you are doing long cardio I'd do it on a separate day, but if its…
  • That depends on whether you are able and willing to cook. Lentils are always good, as are most beans. If you aren't allergic or opposed to wheat gluten, there is seitan, which is expensive to buy but oh-so-easy to make. For instance, these recipes: http://www.theppk.com/2012/01/vegan_sausage/…
  • Its listed under cardo exercises, as strength training or weight lifting. I forget which one. It probably isn't very accurate but it something.
  • This is a great post, and a great thought. Not only do people in other countries go hungry, but here in the US many children go to bed hungry every night. As gastankerdriv said, food in the US is in a way exploitative when you think about the food industry as a whole, however, those of us who can afford to eat well should…
  • Congrats! You look amazing. You've accomplished a great deal, and running you're fist 5k is very impressive. Keep up the good work. You can achieve any goal you set your heart on!
  • I have a glass of red wine with dinner a few nights a week. On the weekend sometimes I'll have two. I work into to my daily calories.
