  • Mmmm...cupcakes. Sorry about your aunt, though.
  • Your story is awesome and inspirational, too! I used to be in very good shape and I was into some pretty serous road cycling. I stopped because of similar reasons, I'm I'm just getting into fitness again. Some times it seems like a long climb back up but hearing things like this give me hope. Thanks so much for sharing…
  • I'm going to Lifetime fitness at CityCentre. I love it there! It is three stories high and everything is super clean there are so many activities. The cardio and weight training areas are huge, and even during peak times it doesn't seem crowded. The locker rooms are huge and gorgeous as well. It does cost a bit more, but…
  • Hi y'all! My name is Kat and I live and work in the Woodlake area. I've been on MPF for about two weeks now and have about 35 pounds lo lose. I got lazy and stopped working out a couple of years ago (you know how life gets in the way sometimes). I'm getting back into it and just joined a gym this weekend. Good luck to…
  • Hi. I'm in the Houston area. I'm 53 and I'm tring to lose about 35 pounds right now that I put on because I wasn't working out or eating right for a couple of years. Feel free to add me as a friend if you need some support!
  • Does your gym offer any free or discounted personal training? If you could have a session with a PT, her or she could help you figure out the best equipment optons for your plan.
  • If you want to do it for whatever reason, then do it. But don't take advice about how you should do it from people on a forum. Do some research and find sound nutritional advice from a registered dietician. For instance, look up Ginny Messina. She co-authored the American Dietetic Association’s Position on Vegetarian Diets…
  • Squats, dead lifts and lunges are all excellent. I will also add stepping of any kind. You can use the stair climber or take a step class. I find that even with strength training, stepping really helps in the bum lifting area.
  • You say you have flat feet and put pressure on the side of your feet. Is it the inside or the outside? I have flat feet and mild pronation (I tend to land on the inside of my foot) and I just got a pair of Brooks Ravenna 3 running shoes that help immensely. I got mine at REI. Sorry, I can't comment on the Asics since I've…
  • And since both of the guys who did these movies were qualified nutritional experts and conducted long-term, double-blind clinical studies...oh wait.
  • I can tell the difference in your face for sure and also you upper body a bit. Keep up the good work. You're doing great!
  • Push ups! Oddly, I like lunges and squats.
  • If you haven't been approached to star n an episode of Animal Hoarders I think you're okay?
  • This is my usual shopping list for the week: Kale Swiss Chard Broccoli Romaine Avocados Tomatoes Bell Peppers Onions Garlic Lemons Limes Mushrooms Fresh Herbs Quinoa Brown Rice Quinoa or Brown Rice Pasta Sweet Potatoes Organic Raw Almonds Organic Raw Cashews Dried Beans Organic, Non-GMO tempeh, tofu, soy milk, almond milk…
  • Unsalted raw or roasted nuts, avocados, quinoa and other whole grains, no-salt added beans (or better still cook your own without salt), lentils, and pretty much any fresh vegetable.
  • I'm 5'11" and I seem to be getting about 1500-1700 calories a day right now, more on days I lift. Once I start lifting heavier I'll probably up it. I'm just getting back into working out right now, and currently I'm losing about one pound a week. My goal is to get strong and fit, and the weight loss will follow.
  • I think its fine to incorporate some prepackaged meat substitutes while you are making the transition to a vegetarian diet. There are many non-meat sources of protien, like tofu, tempeh, beans, legumes (lentils and peas), soy mik, etc. One thing you want to watch if you eat dairy is the saturated fat content of cheese can…
  • Cooked greens. Kale, collards, Swiss chard, etc. Spinach is not so great, since it contains both calcium and iron, but also has oxolates which blocks the absorption of both. If you consume it with some vitamin C it helps.
  • Take the peels of the ripe ones and cut them up. Then put them in plastic bags and freeze them. Frozen bananas make and awesome base for smoothies!

  • A tablespoon or so of peanut butter with celery and baby carrots. It's like my favorite snack in the world right now, LOL. I feel like it gives me tons of energy before a workout. Other than that, twinmomtwice4 said.
  • Curry. Or mash them up and mix them with veggie mayo and veggies and make sandwiches with them. They're good roasted with a little olive oil and spices as wel!
  • I work out in the morning when my darling yet annoying cats wake me up at the crack of dawn, which happens most days. I'm not a morning person, but I kind of like getting it out of the way. On some days the cats don't wake me up, so I do it after work and before dinner, which seems to take a bit more motivation. I know…

  • One of my favorite recipes from ppk is to take tofu and marinate in veggie broth, hot sauce (like Tabasco), minced garlic and little oregano. Then grill it. I think Isa's recipe used tempeh but I was out. It's like Buffalo Tofu. Delish!

  • I'm vegan and I get around 200 carbs a day, mostly from veggies/fruit/beans/soy products. Usually I have about 2-3 starchy/grain servings a day, but I try to avoid too many foods with flour of any kind since it's one of my "tend to eat too much" foods. I follow the guidelines from Vegan for Life by Jack Norris and Virginia…
