I'll grab a Special K or Thinsations product or I'll just eat something sweet or chocolatey.

What you really should do is figure out your TDEE and subtract 20% from it. That number should be pretty damn close to what the MFP setting is with eating your exercise calories back...for example...if your TDEE - 20 % = 1750 and your MFP setting is say 1345 and you burn say 375 calories that would = 1720 calories…

You said you have a desk job...are you actually sitting at a desk for 8-10 hours a day straight...not getting up and walking around...just sitting? If not, I would be bumping it up to the next level. Very few people are actually sedetary...people under estimate their activity level a lot.

THIS EXACTLY! The only time you shouldn't eat back your exercise calories is if you are doing the TDEE - a %. Your exercise calories are then already calculated into that. MFP uses the NEAT method which is no exercise calories calculated/included. Eat them back! You are netting way to low especially with doing a program…

My breakfast and lunch is usually around 300-350, I have a small afternoon snack...between 100-250...and then supper is usually around 500-650 and then another evening snack that's about 150-200 if I'm hungry. I generally eat between 1600-1750/day.I prefer to space my food out so I'm eating every 2 - 2.5 hours. You need to…

Sometimes I think it's accurate (so far anyway...I've only had it for just under 1 week) for some days but off for others. Like the previous poster said, she may be standing there but there are upper arm movements or carrying weight. On days where I really am sitting on my butt for a good part of the day...like a weekend…

I'm still a "work in progress". I'm 5' 2.9" and my starting weight was 192lbs. On a good day I'm now 141.4lbs and my goal weight is 135...I'll reassess once I reach it. I went from a size 16/18 to a 6/8 depending on the clothes. I've lost 50lbs and over 30" off of my body. I have 6lb left to go! My husband laughs at this…

Kokanee...seriously...barf! I don't buy my milk in a bag either...cartons or jugs here. Ketchup chips...not to bad...and any flavored popcorn salt is weird...I like my popcorn to taste like popcorn...preferable the movie theater kind...mmmm...butter! AND...we have smarties and poutine! Canada rocks! Just north of Calgary…

I lose roughly 3.5-4lbs / month with this method. Works out to about .8lbs/week on paper but that's not how my body seems to work. I will lose a pound, then stay the same for a week and half - 2 weeks and then lose 1.5lbs , etc. In the end my progress chart looks like steps and it averages out to about the 3.5 - 4lb mark a…

Ya, people who do the TDEE -20/15/10% usually do this so it doesn't mess with their calorie goals and macros. I just ignore my exercise calories instead (i'm also doing the TDEE -20% ) because I like to see what my burn was for my exercise goals.
-
You should always eat your exercise Calories back...especially if you're using the basic 1200 (such a small amount ) calories mfp sets people at. You want to NET that calorie goal if you're using the MFP way/set up otherwise you are taking in way to few calories.
-
The N.E.A.T (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is the method that does not include exercise...this is the method that MFP uses which is why it wants you to eat back exercise calories.
-
[/quote] That is wrong...TDEE is your total daily energy expenditure INCLUDING exercise. That's why when you use the TDEE -20% ( or 15 or 10 or whatever) method you do not eat your exercise calories.
-
For a lot of people that is the generic setting...one size fits all setting...doesn't mean it's correct for everyone though.
-
It's recognizing the 600 (if it's mfp settings you have it set to) and wants you to eat those back.
-
No, I don't consider MFP a diet. I consider it a life style change.
-
I have a Polar HRM that I wear for my exercise and I just got a Fitbit that I wear daily to give me my est. calorie burn for my day to day activities.
-
This!
-
It depends on what method you're using. If you're strickly doing the MFP method then yes, you should because then it brings your NET down to much if you don't. MFP is set up to not include your exercise in your eating. Which means you can eat the MFP reccommendation for food and lose weight without the exercise. When you…

I like dvd workouts because you can change it up from day to day if you want. I'm kind of all over the map right now. Sometimes I do the dvds or the Nike training app workouts, and I'm trying to get into lifting heavier weights but it's hard when I don't always have a spotter because I do everything from home. I really do…

There are a lot of great workout videos that incorporate weights that are awesome for "toning"/building muscle. You can get free videos off of you tube.

Ya, I don't eat mine back either, I just like to have the record in the exercise goal so I know I've reached/exceeded my goals. I manually calculate (my total calories - exercise calories = my manually set calorie goal to eat (which is TDEE - 20%) ) what I have left to eat so I don't eat the exercise calories. So you…

What does that do? Today will be my first day of a full day wearing the FB so it will be interesting to see what it says I burn in a day...especially a day that I'm not working but doing things around the house. At the moment I don't have the 2 synced...still waiting for more opinions on it...but I was trying to log my…

Any other opinions on this? I want to make sure before I sync it.

Tattoo'd gal here too! I'll be adding a thigh piece on May 25...so excited! As for piercings...well, I'm kinda boring in that department...just normal size in the ears (3 in each ear with 1 upper cartilage on the left side) and my navel pierced. I like tattoos more than piercings :) Feel free to add me...

No one huh...sigh...
