I have a personal trainer 3 times a week. She gave me "core" exercises to do every day. 2 sets each. Abdominal crunches. Bridges, Toroso rotations, leg kickbacks and plank. She had us (my BFF and I share the cost and sessions). She had us do 50 minutes of cardio on treadmill 5 times a week as well. On the days that she…

I have the Polar FT1. It says to wet the strap ends. I usually don't wet them because after I walk the treadmill for about 10 minutes I have perspired enough so that it begins to read my heart rate. My friend has the monitor that you have and she does wet hers.

I shop at Goodwill and the Salvation Army thrift stores. Clothes are in good condition and affordable. When I lose more and the clothes become too big again I donate them back. Everyone wins that way.

If you just want a basic heart rate monitor Polar is the one. I got mine from a sporting goods store but Walmart, Kmart and Target also sell them in the Sporting Goods section. Most all of them can be used for swimming as well. I just got a basic monitor for heart rate only. My BFF got one with alot of "bells and whistles"…

Keep up the good work. You have made wonderful lifestyle changes that should stay with you and help keep your weight down once you reach your goal. :flowerforyou:

My Personal Trainer tells me to go with the Polar Heart Monitor and disregard what the heart rate readings are on the exercise equipment in the gym. I think there is a toll free telephone number where you can call Polar with any questions.

My personal trainer at the gym I belong to has me do core exercises 5 days a week. Abdominal crunches are just one of them. Another is a bridge. Lay with back flat on floor with knees bent. Raise body to make a "bridge". Repeat for 2 sets of 20. (Can also be done with one leg raised.) Another is a body rotation. Sit on…

Add extra protein. Also try taking Bioten which can be found in the vitamen section. It is recommended to all gastric bypass patients who experience hair loss. Good luck and keep up the good work on your new journey in life.

If your gtym offers it and you can afford it, try a Personal Trainer. They will work with you to strengthen you "core" muscles and get you into a routine tailored for your needs. My BFF and I share the cost of a personal trainer 3 times a week and we go to the gym 5 days. She helps us with our nutrional needs as well as…

Don't be so hard on yourself. You have come a long way and we all slip sometime. Venting is good and that is what this community is here for. Just keep at it and you will be back on track in no time. Small steps. Remember we didn't gain this weight all at once and we can't expect to lose it all at once. :flowerforyou:

Try to stick to your proteins. They fill you up and curb the appetite.:flowerforyou: If you snack try the 100 calorie pre packaged snacks. They are at least portion controlled. Good luck and try not to be so hard on yourself. Also when you exercise still stick to your calorie intake that is recommended and not "up" it.…

Good workout routine but do eat 30 mintues before or 60 minutes after you workout. If you belong to a gym their performance and recovery shakes are a good meal subsitute or snack. They are full of protein that your body needs to help lose weight and build muscle. Try taking a bananna with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter,…

Try to eat your calories. If you go under 1200 a day your body will put itself into a "starvation" mode and will start to store it's fat and your weight loss will cease. Try to stick with proteins or protein shakes. Also nuts and cheese are a good choice and will give you a few healthy calories without adding a large…

My personal trainer has my partner and I do basic "core" exercises. One is the crunch that you mention. She has us do 3 sets of 20 each every day. The other exercises are "bridges". Lay flat on back with knees bent. Lift body up at pelvis and lower back to floor until back is level with floor. After 3 weeks raise right leg…

I am not an expert but in our nutrition classes we are told to watch for "hidden" calories and that there are a lot in alocohol. Try tracking your intake of them and it will give you an idea of what calories you are eating/drinking. Good luck in your new journey in life.

According to my Personal Trainer 50 minutes a day of cardio is enough. My doctor is in agreement. I have had gastric bypass surgery. In all of our classes to prepare us for the surgery and in the support groups after the surgery we are told that if you go below 1200 calories a day that the body will put itself in a…

What a boost to your morale. Keep up the good work. KUDOS to you.:flowerforyou:

I have a personal trainer. I am passing on her advice. Start small and work your way up. Work on your CORE exercises everyday. I work with my trainer 3 days a week with additional exercises. I do treadmill 50 minutes a day 5 days a week for cardio. Your body needs at least one day of rest. MORE IS NOT BETTER. If you lose…

I have had diabetes for over 35 years now. I started with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. Went from taking 11 pills a day to 6 shots a day for over 1000 units of insulin a day. I had gone through 5 types of insulin and was becoming immune to insulin. Diabetes runs throughout my family. Before the age of 53 I had…

Try a chiropractor. I also found I had lost so much weight in my butt I was sitting on my sciatic nerve when I tried to do some of the exercises. Be sure to work your coreexercises first to strenghten your core and adjust some of your positions of your exercising.

My doctor's office weighs me and calculates my BMI. You might be able to get that done without making an appointment to see the doctor.

The longest journey begins with the first step and you have taken that step. Keep up the good work.:flowerforyou:

Don't be discouraged. My BFF and I are sharing a personal trainer 3 times a week at they gym and we are exercising 5 times a week. She is losing but my weight goes up and down. :frown: And I have had a gastric bypass. Our trainer says not to worry that every person's metabolism is different. And remember, muscle weighs…

:flowerforyou: Don't worry about the difference in the scales. Continue to use the the original scale. Your weight loss of 91 pounds is 91 pounds. My scales and my doctor's scales are different by 3 pounds and my scales and the gym scales are the same. I "officially" use my doctor's scale weight because I have had a…

I just had 2 cups of homemade chili with beans @ 275 calories. I keep it around the house during cold weather. 1 lb hamburger browned 1 small onion chopped and browned with hamburger mix 1 packet chili seasoning add 1 can diced tomatoes add 1 can tomato sauce add 1 can chili beans let simmer for about 15 minutes add 1/2…

Don't beat yourself up too badly. We all go through days that we go over our goals. And then we all have days that we reach our goals and more. Life is a journey and we often take a wrong turn but eventually we all get back on the right path. Good luck in your new lifestyle and remember we are all here for you to…

Wrap Turkey Bacon around 2 to 3 stalks and secure with a toothpick. Place in a 13 X 9 baking dish. Melt 1/2 cup Splenda with 1 stick of butter. (microwave is good to melt) Add a tablespoon of garlic salt to mixture. Pour over vegetables. Bake covered in oven at 350 degees (about 30 minutes) or until vegetables are tender.…

Go UNJURY.com and check out their products and recipes. It is the protein product that was suggested to us and the one given to us in the hospital after gastric bypass surgery. I use the unflavored in puddings, jellos, soups, etc, (anything that has a distinctive taste). The chocolate is good and the chicken soup is good…

Try eating either a dill pickle chip or a small dill pickle. It seems to help the cravings and the calories are low. It always helps me. And if I really must give into an urge I usually just eat 1 to 2 cookies slowly and that seems to satisfy my craving. Best of luck to you in this journey to lose weight.
