I haven't yet competed in any races, but this one makes sense to me. I can't imagine wearing a shirt that I haven't actually earned yet.

I've had some interest in minimalist shoes as well. Ever thing I read about them said that the midfoot strike was essential. With this in mind I have altered my running to focus on that even before buying minimalist shoes. The upside is that I haven't had any issues with shin splints or achy knees and I believe this is due…

I rarely order in a restaurant without checking the nutritional facts first. And, yes, the sodium levels are completely out of whack in nearly all restaurants.

Thought I'd say, "Hi, I'm a guy on MFP, and this site rocks." I've lost 68 lbs. in the last five months and gone from a couch potato to running nearly 300 miles since July 1st.

45 year old Grandfather. I spent my 20's in obesity, my 30's and early 40's as severely obese, now I'm merely overweight but that will change to healthy before I'm 46.

You know you're a runner when...the sight of a beautiful woman jogging down the street arouses jealousy instead of lust.

Even if there is no interest on his part, anything you might do to feed the crush (emotional affair) will have a lasting and negative impact on you marriage.

I've sent a request. You'll find great support here.

The state of Iowa eliminated the weight listing on DLs a few years ago. That being said, I think the last time mine was accurate was my training permit when I was 16.

Just joined this group but I did 154 miles in August. Just started a new job and don't know how that will effect my running time. My goal for September is 125.

I really enjoyed running just as soon as my weight was low enough that my knees would allow me to run. I ran Cross Country in HS but I was 153 lbs. then. As my weight was dropping I'd keep trying to run but really couldn't do much till I got below 215. When I started doing consecutive miles without stopping to walk the old…

I'm gonna be here everyday until I don't need it, so yeah, a couple million ought to do the job.

You know my big running goal is to do a 20K, but now I may have to change that goal to a marathon just so I can be "that guy!"

Whole Foods Market recently opened a store in our community. Look around for one of their stores. Excellent products even on the aisles there.

A heart rate monitor will always be more accurate. It takes into account your actual effort while my fitness pal only estimates based upon results.

I started this journey at 262 and for the first month I mostly used the elliptical at the gym. Once I built my stamina up a little, burning 1000 calories became relatively common. When I got to about 225 I shifted to running as my primary form of exercise. I now expect to burn 1K per day. I recommend you get yourself a…

I highly recommend walking/running. It's been my primary form of exercise for the last couple of months. Relatively little equipment needed and you can do it anywhere, anytime. I started with walking, adding in short periods of running. Now, I primarily run with short periods of walking. There are various smartphone apps…

Nothing beats a good HRM. I only use mine for cardio workouts, but in my opinion, there's just no replacing it for knowing my calorie burn. I do a lot of running and walking as well as using cardio machines at my gym. I always wear my monitor for these activities. I also do some resistance training, but nothing is going to…
