  • Not all Americans don't understand the "quarter past" and "quarter to" - I am American and know full well that "quarter past 10" means 10:15 and "quarter to 4" means 3:45.
  • But... but... the bacon was the main ingredient, was it not? How do you forget the bacon in BACON-wrapped chicken?! It is just not the same dish! :) Can you tell I love me some bacon?
  • I'm Christina too! I want to lose some weight but, more importantly, firm up everywhere. If that means I only lose a few pounds, I'm okay with that. For reference, I'm 24, 5'3" and 124 pounds, and my goal weight is 110-115. Feel free to add me. Also, I'm running a group devoted to 30-day fitness challenges if anyone is…
  • You know this is the Chit-Chat, Fun, and Games section, right? And that not all of life has to revolve around fitness and weight loss? Give her a break. She's just trying to come to the community that has (likely) supported her through her weight loss journey and get some support on the relationship front. That being said,…
  • A non-digital scale is perfectly fine to use (i.e. no need to get a digital one) as long as you: 1. are comfortable with its unit of measure (whether it weighs in ounces, grams, etc.) 2. understand that a traditional scale is not going to be as accurate as a digital one 3.calibrate it using calibrating weights every so…
  • Added you. Mine diary is open. Granted, I make a lot of things from scratch and use my recipe entry to log my food, but I'm about to start posting my recipes to my blog and creating public foods based on these recipes, in case people want to "copy" my meals :)
  • *bump for later! These sound awesome :) Do they rise/flatten out at all? I"m guessing no because there is no baking powder/baking soda.
  • Definitely NOT a stupid question! I think this information will help you too, gamer_geek. A cup, as in a measuring cup, is not easily convertible to weight because, as you probably guessed, everything does not weigh the same. To illustrate this, consider a measuring cup of grated/shredded cheese compared to a measuring cup…
  • This is such a great tool. Thank you!!
  • LOVE my Under Armour socks. They have a really nice supportive section for the arch of your foot - beware that unless you already have good arches, your feet will be a little sore the first few days you wear them, but they'll feel awesome after about a week. Link:…
  • I downloaded the Pact app and AFTER signing up for a Gym Pact I found out that apartment gyms don't count. I struggled through meeting my first pact and then cancelled it for the future. I do use the Veggie Pact and Logging Pact sections though.. get paid to log on MFP and take pics of the fruits and veggies I eat? Don't…
  • I think toasting is the way to go. I don't eat GF products regularly, but I buy them for my MIL (she has celiac disease) and have them on hand for when she comes over to eat, and she will only eat them toasted.
  • Have you tried Schar? They make a lot of gluten free items and most are tasty (for being GF, haha). I personally find them at my Wegmans store (they're located in the frozen section), but they're also at our Giant Food and Safeway stores. Wegmans search results (I shortened the URL with goo.gl: http://goo.gl/SpLkPL Schar…
  • Oh god. That sounds horrible. Why any person would try this is beyond me.
  • This really stuck out to me; I'm surprised no one else has commented on this yet. When you say "one big meal" are you saying you had a full day's worth of calories at dinner (i.e. >1200) or do you mean that you had a large meal but were still eating a low amount of calories (<=1200) per day? I can't imagine eating a full…
  • I create a Recipe with the recipe builder, then open a new tab and create a Food with the stats from the recipe builder. Then you can search for the food in the database (I start all of mine with "Actuarial Chef - ").
  • So, I specifically chose "sedentary" so that I could log all of my exercise, including my short but fast-paced .25-mile-each-way walk to the Metro and long (45-60 min) dog walks. (I don't log short walks for the dog or walking around while shopping, etc., however.) Am I doing this incorrectly? Edited to add: I also have a…
  • Vinegar is a weak acid, but when compared to the acidic environment of the stomach is more basic than stomach environment. The pH of the human stomach is around 1. So drinking vinegar, which has a pH of around 2.9 will make the stomach more "basic", since it will increase the pH to its normal value. The pH scale tells us…
  • For those who weren't invited to the group initially, I was able to find it in the groups list. Here's the link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/13009-countdown-to-summer-challenge
  • I'm in! Can you post a link to the group here??
  • Thank you!! (It was me who asked). This looks very similar to the recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie's blog... only her recipe is vegan, I think. Thanks again :) Looking forward to making these!
  • I'm in -- now, should I do this before or after my 30DS tonight? Haha Also, did anyone notice (around the 0:28 mark in the video) this text?: REPETITIONS: Basic: 5-10 Intermediate: 11-20 Advanced: 21-30 GO US with 200 :)
  • I've had this one for 2+ years: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007GAWRS/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's currently $23.95 but I think I paid around $20 for it. Well worth it. It measures in lb+oz, oz, and grams, and it has a tare function, which to me I can't live without haha. Edited to add: Nevermind. Sorry. I…
  • Black bean brownies?! Please share!
  • Wow it's like we're twins! Calves: 14, 14.5 Thighs: 21, 21.5 Weight: 120lbs Height: 5'3" Body fat: 19-24% (depending on which calculator I use)
  • I logged my first day as Circuit training, general. I'm interested to see how others log though!
  • Not sure, but that's what I'm using. I think it's 27 minutes total? It doesn't look like there is anything missing... Annnnd too late. haha
  • I started yesterday evening (3/13) for the first time and plan to do it in 30 days straight. I'd love to have some motivation from friends who are also doing the program. Feel free to add me - I have an open diary and while I'm not too active on other parts of the site, I do log on everyday and read through a lot of forum…
  • I'm no expert, but I've found this group to be helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less I don't know your sizes, but I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs. Eating to maintain, not lose weight, puts me at 1600-1700 calories per day. And I'm not even super-active. Check out the resources there if you want,…
