My first trip to New Orleans and first night on Bourbon Street I found this awesome blues bar hole in the wall place. Got rather drunk on JD and ended up doing a set with the band on stage. Was invited back for the next night as well.

I give myself a serious talking to in the mirror. Seriously! Then I write out goals to get to what I need to do, and it may take a bit and some baby steps to get there. You can do it. As Clint Eastwood said in a movie "you gotta get mad dog mean" about it.

After the first date. We played pool, saw a movie and then walked the night away hand in hand talking. This was 37 years ago and the love of my life is still with me. Edited to add, she asked me to marry her two days later. Two years from that date we got married.

Log it, it's got calories, vitamins and so on. I log everything including water. I was amazed at what I would consume in a day without thinking about it.

I work from home and my wife goes to an office. Our day starts at 5am where she gets ready to drive an hour to the office and be there at 7am. Food scale, measuring spoons, measuring cups when at home. If i go out to eat I eyeball it somewhat. For instance, I order a 6 ounce filet and I wish to have 4 ounces only, I will sort of calculate the portion based upon the whole, and don't take into account any shrinkage due to cooking.

They may be thin, but eating unhealthy has unseen to the naked eye effects upon our bodies. I'm going for healthy inside and out including my arteries and heart. I find that the good foods taste much better than a greasy cheese burger type meal most days. Most... there are times I could go for a great 'bar burger'.

My family has 4 Polar FT-7 and all are very happy. Be sure to get one that has the chest strap that sends a signal to your 'watch' device. Those are the more accurate over non chest strap types.

Under my doctor and dieticians guidance, I limit my carbs to 90 per day (or very close to that) as I'm diabetic and actually got off one med recently. Oh so much for my background. IMO, when you carry, you have to set yourself above the stuff that would potentially escalate a situation. Sounds like you did just right there. I also carry when legal.

As was said, one day won't destroy all you worked on. I also 'graze' at those kind of functions, just picking a bit of this and that to put on my plate. I also grab a smaller plate as it looks full faster and therefore, I eat less. Have fun!

Yup, I hunt and fish. I live just off Lake Michigan and go out often for Salmon and Steelhead. Inland I fish for panfish and flyfish for trout.

I had trouble at first getting enough water. Doctor was always telling me I was dehydrated. I started out using MIO with water and it helped me greatly. Now I rarely add anything other than lemon or lime slices to my water to flavor it up.

I am not stressing but for these special occasions I use a smaller plate and really watch my portion control. I will drink a lot of water prior to the meal and not need to eat as much. This works for me as the holidays are at our house ....
