I'm also 5'1". My lifetime high weight was 126 about 18 months ago. Today I'm at 105 and I'm shooting for either 102 or less than 20% body fat. There are two hard things for me: one is that I'm in my late 30's and starting to get, um, saggy. Yeah, I just wrote that. This makes what muscle tone I do have a lot less…

+1 on wanting a HRM. Please share the good and bad of the kinds you use.

Rounding up = 32-26-35 I'd need a boob job (32 + 4), a full time personal trainer (26 - 2), and more junk in the trunk (35 + 1) to be a brick house.

You first

I agree! I have recently gotten into size twos and zeros. I'm 5'1" and hovering around 104ish (trying for 102). That's a perfectly fine, healthy weight for me. Unfortunately, if I do make 102, I could have a problem finding clothes that fit, especially technical gear for hiking and rock climbing. Yes, even those…

If I could only drink one "adult beverage" a week, how awesome would that be. I'm sitting here right now just finishing the half bottle of chenin blanc from dinner, which is typical of a weeknight dinner. Maybe that's why I can't shed that last two pounds of fat

Trichinosis is infection with the roundworm Trichinella spiralis. Freezing meat and cooking it until well done will kill the parasite (note that it's not a bacteria). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001655/

I'm in the very unenviable position of being female, in my late 30's, very short at 5'1", and being within my healthy weight range but needing to be leaner. I also need to watch my weight, even if the weight is from muscle. I rock climb, and in climbing, being heavy is just bad news, regardless of whether the weight is…

I think you hit the nail right on the head. They pay a lot of attention to what's on the inside, like fried chicken, and pie, and soda, and cake, and mac and cheese, and meatloaf, and mashed potatoes, and hamburgers, and french fries, and pancakes, and...

That's awesome! Bet the belt was too big, too. That's honestly the strangest feeling in the world to put on what used to be your "skinny" clothes and have them be so big you literally can't keep them on without accessorizing. Just be careful, there's not much out there after you get to size zero. But what a great "problem"…

+1 on the question about the "rollover minutes" post. Please elaborate on why the cut-off is one day, as that is not the same as advice I've read from other sources.

I respectfully beg to differ. I'm 5'1", currently at 104.5 and feel better than I have in years. Furthermore, I'm looking to maintain at 102-103. That's still within a healthy BMI, and I was told by a registered dietitian that I would be perfectly fine at 102. Crazy.

I climb at a rock gym three days a week. I log 2 minutes per route, regardless of whether I'm warming up at well below my grade (YDS 5.7 - 5.8) or working on a project (YDS 5.10c/d - 5.11a). I realize that's an overly simplified way to track it, but it seems to work. Sometimes it's a challenge to keep track of how many I…

A big +1 on the Newman's Own Low Fat Sesame Ginger. 35 calories per 2 tablespoon serving, and quite good.

I'm not sure that's accurate for everyone. I've gone from 123 to 104 in a year, and I enjoy wine almost every day. Could I have lost more or faster? Possibly, but I'll never know, as I'm not planning on gaining it back. Just saying that I doubt alcohol affects everyone adversely weight loss wise. I'll drink to you…

Bad form, but not unexpected. Some people just can't seem to figure out that the rest of the world has the right to think, believe, and eat the way they want to as long as it doesn't hurt anyone (okay, PETA and vegans - go ahead and flame on). Especially, sorry to say, religious people. Those who are supposed to be the…

I treat myself to whatever I want to eat one day a week, as long as I stay under a certain number of calories for the day. I frequently eat out on those days, and what makes me mad is when I order something that I really DO want, and it turns out to be bad food! I've gone away from the breakfast table hungry the past two…

Maybe instead of eating "healthy" you should think about eating "well". What I mean by that is you don't have to eat nothing but bland "diet" or "health" food to eat right. Eat good quality food, fresh over packaged every time you can, prepared in healthier ways, and watch your portion sizes. For example, instead of fried…

Thanks DJJW. The way the RD calculated my maintenance calories with the exercise I do regularly doesn't translate that well to MFP, so I'll use the "sedentary, no exercise, just what it takes to sit and type and live" calories from MFP and from the RD to compare. Mind you, this is not BMR, this is BMR plus normal daily…

I hit my initial goal weight of 108 and changed my calorie level in MFP to maintenance about three months ago. Despite increasing my caloric intake by about 700 per week, I've lost another three pounds since then (which is significant for starting at 108), so obviously the MFP calculator doesn't work for everyone. I've…

I have a sweet tooth, too. I make sure to leave myself calories to satisfy it, and have found some real treats. Jello Mousse Temptations are AMAZING. Chocolate yummmmm for 60 calories. Seriously. Also try the small, original Rice Krispies Treats. They're very good and only 90 calories. I highly recommend finding some…

Sorry - Levis, not Wranglers.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding pants and jeans that fit me now, too. I'm 5'1", and I found some Wrangler jeans for $32 regular price at Academy about a month ago in a junior's size 3 short that fit (unfortunately now they're too big, but I'm okay with that). Don't be afraid to try on junior's sizes, you might just…

TROLL. That's 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

I'm in the same boat. Still losing, even though I'm no longer trying to lose (anyone know how to actually maintain???). My wedding is in May and the dress I bought is at least a full size too big now, but again, still losing. So do I alter it now and then have to do it again, at the tune of $400 each time??? Or do I wait…
