  • Music, going in with a plan for my workout (I follow an online lifting program). I will people watch in between sets but when I'm lifting, I'm usually focused on one spot for concentration. If I have my own music in my ears I can't hear much of what others around me are saying or the other noises. It makes it easier to…
  • Awesome work, keep it up! Your hard work is paying off. Before long you will have to get a smaller dress :)
  • Definitely start lifting now! You won't regret it. It's so much better than cardio alone. Find a beginner's program, there are tons out there. I'm currently doing Jamie Eason's Live Fit program on bodybuilding.com. It utilizes more machine work in the beginning, but it worked out well for me being new to lifting and not…
  • Mine don't bruise but they definitely get sore and swollen and it sometimes goes up the side and back of my calf. Ice is your friend- use it. Have you tried any compression sleeves? I have one from my doc b/c I sprained my ankle but I saw that ACE makes one now. Not sure if that would help you, but it's something to look…
  • Mmm I would totally opt for sushi especially if their calorie counts are online
  • This!! I put on my bikini from a couple years ago (I didn't swim much last year so I didnt get a new one) and it was a bit tight. I went shopping and got a new one that fits my body so better, although I'm sure it's the same size as my old one. I'm not at my goal and I don't have the best looking thighs or tummy but I…
  • This will probably make most of you laugh b/c the distance is so small BUT about 2 1/2 weeks ago I started training for a physical test I'm taking this coming wkend. I started out barely able to finish 1/2 a mile without stopping and now I can jog/run 1.5 miles non-stop in a little over 15 minutes. For me, this is awesome…

  • I second the Bolthouse Farms. Also, OP, check out www.skinnytaste.com. Gina has a ton of creamy style dressings on her website, including ranch :)
  • I was just getting ready to post the same thing...
  • This. Plus I've noticed that when I do search it puts items in my "my foods" list first followed by items that don't come anywhere close to matching my search words. Very frustrating!!! :explode:
  • My husband is supportive but he doesn't participate on MFP anymore. He will eat healthier meals with me but then he will snack a lot, too. I don't say anything b/c I've tried and it has done nothing so I'll let him come around again on his own. When he's marinating dinner he will weigh my portion of meat (if I remind him).…
  • Everglades seasoning (not sold everywhere, you may have to get it online) but it makes EVERYTHING better. Garlic and salt, I've used Old Bay seasoning on mine, olive oil and fresh ground pepper, weber kickin chicken seasoning. Endless possibilities :)
  • Belly, hips and thighs. And of course, those are the places that take the longest to reduce. Cruel, cruel world
  • Yes, all the time. 1200 calorie diet when I first started MFP- I lost 10-12 pounds but I gained back about 20-22. If I had just started out slower I could be so much farther along now. But, live and learn and now I know. It helped put me in the right frame of mind this go around
  • I usually check and see if there's a menu online before I go and then I'll decide based on the nutrition information. Or, if there's a 500 or under menu I'll choose from there. But I do as others have said, dressing on the side, veggies as sides, less rolls or bread. I opt for baked or grilled fish or chicken, or I get…
  • ^^ This has always been my experience, too. It could be something else totally unrelated. Stress, hormones, food, TOM, facial cleanser, lotion, moisturizer. Anything. Give it some time. I've noticed a lot more breakouts since I started on here but I think it's pure coincidence as I also started a new BC around the same…
  • I ran my 1.5 mile 32 seconds under time and my 300 meter sprint 2 seconds under time for my tests
  • That seems really low for almond milk, but regardless 80 mg in one cup is not that much and I wouldn't stress over it- unless you're on a strict, low sodium diet for medical/health reasons. I just looked it up and there are 120 mg per cup in the 1% milk I drink.
  • I can definitely tell a difference in your legs and there's some definition in your stomach. Keep up the good work!
  • I was going to ask this exact same thing. I agree w/other people on here, while we should all strive to be our best and look our best for our SO's, if they really love you then it shouldn't be a deciding factor for anything. I don't think you should continue giving this shallow person the time of day. You should be doing…
  • Twix ice cream bars... the regular size, b/c eating a mini ice cream bar is just wrong, ain't gonna happen. I need at least 2-3 regular ones before a craving is satisfied. Or a peanut butter-banana-honey sandwich. Sometimes the amount of peanut butter that goes on it is more than some of my meals' total calories, not to…
  • This. I eat A LOT of fish and chicken. When I have pasta I usually splurge a little bit or make room for it throughout the day. If we are having pizza or fried chicken I won't deny myself any of it, but I also won't sit there and eat the whole pizza (usually) or the whole bucket of chicken. Smaller portions, make it fit.
  • I was concerned about this a while back and my personal trainer said cardio would help reduce the waistline (of course, she wasn't implying it would spot reduce). I'm in training right now for the police dept physical tests and I will say that I've noticed a significant difference in my waist line, love handles etc since I…
  • Fantastic progress!! Keep up the good work!
  • I love making a big batch of steelcut oats on Sundays. I'll usually make it plain so I'm not stuck with one flavor all week. If I have canned pumpkin I'll mix 1-2 tbsp of that with some brown sugar, cinnamon ad nutmeg. Or I'll throw in sliced apples, blueberries or raspberries. Or just cinnamon and sugar. Maybe a hard…
  • I usually workout in the evening but I shower before work in the morning. I don't wash my hair in the evenings but I will rinse it and if I wear it in a ponytail during my runs and it's tangled then I'll just use conditioner.
  • I feel guilty too... Like right now. I have something to do after work tonight and I'm trying to figure out when I'm going to get in a workout along with cooking, cleaning and laundry. I've decided that tonight's going to be a rest night. I love my rest days so that when I get back to my workouts I can give 100%. You'll…
  • In for suggestions. I just bought a pair w/compression shorts underneath from target. While they rode up a little it wasn't terrible (maybe an 1/2 to 1 inch) and my thighs didn't rub together. Of course not having to worry about the ride up altogether would be nice...
  • MFP does not assume your exercise calories in calculating your daily calorie goal. Whatever calories you burn from exercise are meant to be eaten back. You want to NET 1200.
