  • Depends... today I did. I had gotten into a habit of eating my snacks that I brought to work even though I realized I wasn't hungry- I just ate them b/c the reminder popped up on my calendar. Now if I log it and look at it throughout the day, I seem to be less hungry knowing that if I don't eat that yogurt or banana with…
  • They are ripe and ready when they are brown and you can feel you thumb/fingers push in slightly when you squeeze it. As others have said use lemon juice and keep the pit with the remaining half or put it in the container with the already mashed avocado. I am usually able to get 4 days worth with my scrambled eggs by doing…
  • Since you said "boil" I'm assuming you don't have a rice cooker? If you're really wanting to switch to brown I would recommend buying one... they usually come with a handy booklet for rice/water combinations. If buying one is not an option, use 1.5 cups of water for every 1 cup of dried brown rice. Bring it to a boil, turn…
  • There's definitely a difference, especially in the side pics. Keep it up!
  • It's just the way the elliptical is. This happens to me all the time and it's one of the reasons I hate the elliptical. I only use it if all the treadmills are taken and the weather isn't ideal for running outside. Like someone else suggested, try lifting your feet every now and then to restore circulation.
  • Cutting out the sugar I used to add to EVERY cup of coffee in the morning (2-3 per day).
  • Sounds like you have the right mindset and that's a HUGE step. I had a few "bad days" this week, but I don't stress over it. Life's full of indulgences and we're all going to give in at some point, with something. I just logged it and moved on. I don't feel bad about it and it actually helps to motivate me to keep making…
  • Looks like I need to find a new place to shop :grumble:
  • Great job! Such a difference that 32 lbs made.
  • Not sure why I never thought of this
  • I decided about 6 weeks ago to quit adding my normal packet to my 2-3 cups of coffee every morning. At first it was hard, but now if I use any more than 1 tsp of sugar it's too sweet. I just use the creamers now.. coffeemate vanilla caramel is my favorite at the moment (only because the peppermint mocha isn't out for 7-8…
  • I would scan it into the recipe builder with the correct meat (lean/fat ratio) that you're using.. then you'll be able to put in the actual amount of servings it makes and correctly log it.
  • Double stuf oreos (happened last night as a matter of fact), garlic bread/breadsticks, cheese, imitation crab meat, dill pickle chips, jars of icing especially cream cheese or vanilla
  • I usually do 75-90 minutes if cardio is included, otherwise I'll spend about 60 minutes on my lifting schedule. But I do 30-60 second breaks between sets. I also don't have kids and my husband works later than I do so I never feel rushed to meet a certain deadline.
  • If you're looking to buy new I would just go to a bike shop and start trying out some different brands and styles. Most have test tracks or will let you ride them around the parking lot. Just know that not all bike stores carry all brands... some only carry certain ones. My husband and I recently spent 2 weeks looking for…
  • Seriously??? Some people are just plain rude! Jeez.... :noway:
  • You can eat anything you want as long as you keep it within your calories. If you're still not seeing any results after a few weeks, recalculate your settings. If you're going for 2lbs/week that's most likely too much and you may do better dropping it to 1lb/week. You'll have to eat more but once you start eating more (at…
  • If it worked for you and you are happy and getting healthy then that's all that matters. Congrats to you for taking control and doing something about it. Best of luck going forward!! :drinker:
  • I do eat health foods. That's all I eat. [/quote] I did this the first couple of times around. It doesn't work. Now I allow myself treats almost everyday. I work them into my calories and I only have 1 or 2 servings, if they fit. If not, there's always tomorrow. But I make choices. The other night I had a 16 oz pepsi with…
  • Where do you shop?!?!??! 10lb bag of chicken for $6?? I pay that for a 3lb store brand when it's on sale, $7 if it's not. Milk is almost $4 here.. although I've seen my grocery bill go up considerably, and the fact that I seem to go shopping every week and spend the same amount of money or more than the previous trip, I…
  • 1. Open your diary. 2. That amount of calories doesn't sound like it's enough for someone with your activity level, especially if you're doing 2 high intense cardio workouts a day. 3. What is your activity level set to on MFP?
  • homemade chicken nuggets!!! http://skinnytaste.ziplist.com/souschef?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.skinnytaste.com%2F2011%2F04%2Fhealthy-baked-chicken-nuggets.html
  • 1650 w/o exercise, sometimes I go as high as 2200 eating back my exercise calories. I don't always eat them back but if I'm really hungry or just craving something and I have some to spare (like my midnight ice cream last night), then I'll eat them back
  • Ohhhh, what pickles do you buy? The ones I buy are 5-10 for a spear, depending on the brand. I'd love to have an unlimited amount of pickles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha
  • First, weigh everything raw. Second, once you start weighing that "medium" apple you'll realize that "medium" is really a lot of calories. I used to use those entries on the database, but once I got my food scale I realized how much I was underestimating my fruit calories- sometimes by upwards of 130-150 calories per…
  • You should weigh everything raw. When cooked, juices/water are released making the meat/veggies/whatever lighter than what it originally was. The weights on the nutritional data on the packages are pre-cooked weights.
  • Thanks for the confirmation! I've never used the "my foods" tab but now that I know for sure what it is it's going to make looking for those specialty entries a little easier :flowerforyou:
  • I'm not sure what the personal foods tab is either, but if you want to figure out the calories in a casserole or other meals you make, enter each ingredient into the recipe builder, enter the serving size and it will give you the # of calories for each serving. ETA: I think the "my foods" tab is when you enter foods and…
  • New Rules of Lifting for Women, Stronglifts 5x5 or bodybuilding.com are good places to start. You can work at your own pace on all of these but they will help you start out. Also, when working with your personal trainer make sure you keep a log of the machines and/or weights and movements you do when you're with them. Then…
  • 99% of the time I bring my lunch to work and eat in the kitchen. People ALWAYS comment on what I'm eating. Whether it's "Oh my what is that?" or "Wow, look at your healthy lunch, you're so much better than me". SO ANNOYING!!!! I hate when people ask me what I'm eating or tell me how healthy they think it is. Sometimes it's…
