  • 1) Grrr! I don't think it's fair to my friend, family and co-workers to make myself a miserable beast. 2) So far I've been maintaining for 2 years. I've bounced around in a 5 lb range. I overshot my goal so that I'd have some wiggle room when I went to maintenance. Turns out I can't maintain my low-weight because 5)I want…
  • When I was new here I almost gave up in the first couple of weeks... I felt like I was failing, but then I realized even if I couldn't make my 1200 calories a day, I was still doing much better than before I was at MFP. And as long as I was consistently moving in the right direction I didn't need to be a speed demon about…
  • A giant brain dump for you! I've probably included more than you can process now at the start of you journey... but these are the things that made my journey here easier. The good news is you don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better. ++Track for a week or two before worrying about losing. This way you'll see…
  • For first dates I like an activity, (hiking, bowling, slot car racing, go karts, rock climbing, arcades, skating, even a outing to shoot photographs) If he is fitter than you ask for his help... I'm trying to work up my endurance, let's go for a hike on the "_____" trail. Because you are doing something there are fewer…
  • Baked sweet potato chips or fries... The hardest part for me is the patience to wait for them to get done. Slice thinly or julienne a single layer on a baking sheet with a light spritz of EVOO. Bake at 425° until crispy and cooked through. Pull out of the oven add salt and pepper!
  • Peanutbutter may be high in fat, BUT it's healthy fats! No need at all to avoid it. You're body NEEDS fats for your nerves, brain function, and it also fights depression. Peanutbutter is not only nutrient dense, but it takes a smaller amount to feel satisfied. Choice a peanutbutter that has only 2 ingredients: PEANUTS and…
  • Oh I just had seaweed tonight, I forgot to include that in the list I know it has idodine, good for thyroid function I also eat hijike and sh!take I think of them as "real food" , but I don't know exactly what their health benefits are. I do love my carbs (a little to much maybe) I am trying to shift away from simple carbs…
  • Yeah, doctor's office scales are always a B!atch.. I've always figure my scale doesn't have to be perfectly accurate as long as it's consistent because the number doesn't matter nearly as much as progress matters. So you may want to get yourself a new home scale that is consistent. When I was about to quit because I wasn't…
  • THANK YOU SO MUCH :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

  • Ha! I am the OP...
  • Yep, I'm going to eat sugar because it tastes good, but that's not a nutritional benefit. And yes fats taste good, but they are also great for brain function, your nervous system and fighting depression. Bananas  I am allergic to them

  • Takes a while for your brain to catch up to your body. It took me a long time to recognized I put on weight... even though I saw the numbers on the scale go up and up. It also took me a long time recognized that I lost weight.... even though my size 18 pants were down around my ankles. Give it a while.
  • 2000 calories a day sounds like an awful lot to me. Is this the number that MFP gave you after you input your goals? Or are you going by the number on every Nutritional Fact panel say "based on a 2000 calories a day"? (yeah, don't go by that unless you're a 6' tall man) I'm 5'6" and When I was eating 1700-1800 cal a day I…

  • I use the time I used to spend over eating...
  • I was all excited til i got up to the splenda  I really try and keep away from artificial sweetener, I may try to adapt with a more clean eating option.
  • My goal is to be healthier, so I have no end date. I can always get a teeny bit better. On the other hand I would like to learn to do this with out logging everyday. I'm not sure that is possible for me though. Got to my wieght goal of 33 lb in 15 months. 1/2 lb a week is so the way to go.... it's so DOABLE
  • Vitamin D has helped me tremendously on this front.
  • went to click through to see what the thrifty plan looked like and got this :-0 http://www.usda.gov/fundinglapse.htm
  • I've always thought of myself as cheap as $h!t, but it turns out not so much... When I lived in the city I spent $50 on groceries every 2 weeks, but I buy my lunches on weekdays and ate dinner out once or twice a week. Groceries $100 + Eating Out Lunch/DInner $225 = $325 puts me between Moderate and Liberal Now that I…

  • Age and Gender do make a big difference in how many calories you get. I'm eating 1450 calories to maintain I'm 145 lbs (67 kg), but then again I'm 51 years old, I set my activity at sedentary and eat back my exercise calories.
  • My appetite is always less after I work out. I tend to make up for it the next day, though
