  • Hi :) Welcome and good luck! :) Feel free to add me (anyone) ... always looking for support, too :)
  • My recipe: (Vegetarian) Cut up butternut squash in 1/2 inch cubes... coat gently with olive oil, salt and pepper and cumin.... roast 450 (convection, if you have it) for 15-25 min (depending on oven and other factors), flipping half way through... roast until caramelized. Fill wonton or egg roll wrappers with roasted,…
  • Incredible - you look great!! :):)
  • Do you like Arugula ... rocket salad.... its delicious and SUPER healthy ... part of the cabbage family... :) I eat it with almost anything but it is GREAT with Italian. Then, I make a homemade dressing.... super healthy and low cal.... lemon juice, potassium chloride (or you can use salt), pepper, sundried tomatoes,…
  • YUM! Sounds like how I eat it... but I do add walnuts and omit olives :)

  • OK - had "sweet" quinoa for breakfast today. Eating it sweet is very new to me, as I usually eat it savory, with onions, garlic, chick peas, avocado, sundried tomatoes romano cheese and basil. This morning, I cooked it in Coconut Almond Milk and water. After it cooled a little, I added frozen organic raspberries and a few…

  • Oh wow, the opposite extreme! The CYBEX elliptical at the gym reads as double what my polar tells me. Also, the treadmill is high. The crazy thing is, they BOTH read my heart rate wirelessly, as they both are Polar Ready. The only machine that actually comes close in calories is the StairMaster rotating stairmill.... my…
  • Also love Farro and Wheat berries in salads....yes, cook them :-)

  • I swear by mine.... I have the FT60. The machines at the gym are way off on calorie burn - they are much too high!! Definitely recommend the FT60 :-) :-)
  • Sounds delicious :-) :-) :-) will try this tomorrow morning :-)

  • If you like Peanut butter, try PB2 or Betty Lou's just great stuff... both dried peanut butter (they remove the oil)... you add water and it is 45 cal and 1.5 g fat for 2 TBSP! :):) Also, if you need salty, chippy type food, try Smart Fries! :)
  • What do you suggest to top it with for breakfast? I always made is savory, but sounds like a great sweet breakfast option!! :)

  • I guess they put something on it to keep the bugs away... not toxic, but bitter... i think most companies do rinse it away before packaging but I still rinse it, just to be sure :)

  • ...and rinse it first.... always rinse it because it has a coating on it which is bitter if not rinsed... :)

  • I agree with what you wrote as being rude and generic and even insulting... but no one here did that, did they... honestly? I think people are trying to help and it is hard for a one size fits all solution. There are rules and there is science and people are responding, I think, to the best of their knowledge using their…
  • What is a generic response? ..IMHO people are trying to help..... Honestly, I didn't find anyone to be rude in their responses.
  • @Byock - I totally agree with you. Lots of healthy foods have LOTS of calories, alone, but especially as prepared. Things like olive oil can really pack on the calories, even though it is tremendously healthy. Also, many times food is prepared with LOTS of salt so that can cause you to bloat. I, too, exercised for years…
  • Another way they are delicious (once roasted) is in burritos.... roast in cubes as I wrote earlier, then put in wrap with tomatoes or salsa and refried or black beans.... wrap, top with onions, a little cheese and salsa.... top with typical tex-mex toppings :)

  • I roast them... a little EVOO, salt and pepper and cumin..... YUM! HIGH heat - 450 or so..... convection, if you have it... flip half way through..... watch closely... a little burn and caramelization makes them YUMMY! You can cube them and mix them *once cooked* with kidney or black beans, avocado, lettuce, onion and…

  • Trader Joe's sells nitrate-free deli meat, too - Applegate Naturals - but I don't think that they are low sodium.... link: http://www.applegatefarms.com/
  • Sounds DELICIOUS! I eat this type of sandwich every day for lunch... also put some balsamic and lemon juice on it and use feta sometimes instead of cheddar :)
  • I found the exact same thing! SO much sodium in everything... even SALSA (a diet food) has a lot of sodium and breads are a killer, too.... I found Ezekial Low Sodium bread, which actually has NO sodium... LOVE it... I use NuSalt to flavor things than need salt, which is Potassium Chloride but tastes very similar to…
