"Free and Easy" as a sauce I quite liked. Not very cheesy, but adequate.

It depends what you have down as your activity level. If you have your calories set with activity included, you should not eat them back (unless you exercise beyond this level). If you have your activity level set to sedentary, then eat back all your exercise calories.

Yes, muscle weighs more than fat for the same mass. Therefore you can stay the same weight but be thinner.

I'll join in. Not clear to me if SW is start of month or start of process, so I'll include both. Height 5ft6 SW: (Starting weight 1/4/12) 245 SW: (Starting weight May 2013) 199 CW: (Current weight) 199 GW: (Goal weight for the month) 194 Weigh in days (always a Sunday for me, just to be awkward) 28/4 199 5/5 12/5 19/5 26/5…

I personally wouldn't worry about 100 - 200 calories, that is probably the margin of error on the amount of calories burned (an inexact science). Anything more (if you subscribe to the IPOAR methodology) would not be advised. There are others on here who set their calorie deficit way higher than this and still achieve…

Hmm, hard to know what you are saying here?

Thanks, I'll try that. Already signed up for the snacks, they are excellent.

I hope you'll come back after the race and let everyone know how you got on!

You might struggle if you hop?

Yes. By choosing the right activity level, your workout calories are already assumed in the calories you need to eat. Hopefully not complicating this, but the other option is to choose sedentary and then eat back your calories. So you need to end up at 1540 calories as a net position. Therefore if you burn 500 calories…

Putting your details in to the link I sent, you get the following Sedentary 1925 less 20% = 1540 calories Lightly Act (1-3 workouts per week) 2206 less 20% = 1765 kcal Mod Act (3-5 workouts per week) 2486 less 20% = 1988 kcal

Do you mean now I have lost (as opposed to nor have I lost), as it's a crucial difference?
-
If you follow Jude's link then it should be clear. The short version is the theory that you should measure how much you burn in a day - based on activity leavel and your BMR (the amount your body needs to exist even if in bed asleep all day) - and then reduce it by 10 -20%. The calculation is called TDEE (Total Daily…

If I exercise for 3 days a week, am I moderately active or lightly active?
-
Of course it's inches lost that is important. However it is a slow moving target and so I will use the scales for week to week progress. 3lb loss won't show much in the way of inches, but I still want to know I've lost 3lbs.

Coming out as 40+. Will come back to this thread to share issues like creaking knees and bad backs and how they impact on exercise. Just bump in other words.

We tip waitresses here, I think someone was pulling your leg. I wouldn't get your food analysed if you go somewhere regularly and don't tip them!

And don't tell an American you are turned on by Suspenders. Means something very different over there.

There is a school of thought that if you eat too few calories your body will not burn fat, but hold on to it. You may just lose muscle. So if your target is 2500 for your normal day, then without extra exercise just eat 2500 calories. If you burn 1000 extra calories in the day then your body effectively only has 1500 to…

That's terrible advice. He shouldn't be eating Elephant at all!

Sorry, pasta Sandwiches. Just wrong! Everything else on here looks delicious, but these don't, nor does the Bolognese in a loaf of bread.

You've not quite got the hang of fun threads!!

There is a great thread on here called "In place of a roadmap". Talks about the essence of how the body reacts to certain calorie levels. It strongly advocates eating your TDEE less 20%. For you that would be about 1700 kcals. Has convinced me and I am upping my calorie intake so that I am not on a diet, but have found the…
