I tried the net carb thing.. tried to subtract sugar alcohols and fiber. That didn't work for me at all. Try to just count all carbs for a week, then start adding net carbs to see if there is a difference.

Any time :)

Yes, I had to do the same thing too. Trying to stay under 30 g of carbs. Go to MY HOME, then click on GOALS, scroll down and select to change them, then click on CUSTOM to customize your own goals. You can change the percentages of carbs, fats, and proteins. :)

Well done!! Those are the best changes. You should be proud of yourself, and you are definitely and inspiration to us all. :)

Thank you guys.. I'm definitely feeling better.. blood sugars have stabilized (no more 'net carbs' for me). I think the fluctuations I've been experiencing this week affect my psyche. I usually handle things better than I've been. Nothing has truly occurred in my life that is not common to life, after all. I've been…

FDA recommends less than 30 grams of sugar a day if you not a diabetic, and less than 20 grams a day if you are a diabetic. I would take this Very seriously as there is now an epidemic of prediabetics and diabetics.

Ohhhhhh... thanks everyone -- very informative. I'm going to adjust my MFP dietary goals to match that. As for diabetics... do any of you subtract the fiber from your carb count? Does it make a difference in your blood sugar?

It's true.. going gluten-free can be expensive. There are other things in wheat besides the gluten that can cause allergies, as well. And, it's not just in wheat.. it's in corn, soy beans, and a myriad of other items. So, I do feel for your situation. Something you can do is to make a bunch of hard boiled eggs for just…

Oh, I totally understand this one. Stop trying to get him to change because it won't happen. Go easy. Definitely make and freeze your own food.. I know you are tired from working and being a mom.. not to mention being a wife.. but you are doing this for you first and everyone else Last. This is healthy. Love and accept him…

Yes, I have to learn how to be more kind, accepting, and patient with myself. It may take me a while to get back into the 80's consistently. I felt so much better in the 80s.. now, I just feel a little sluggish again.

Pepsi One has sucralose and no carbs. Powdered sucralose drives my blood sugar up, but liquid sucralose generally does nothing to my blood sugar. I watched this episode of Dr. Oz where he talked about artificial sweeteners and their affect on the body.. something about weight gain because it tricks the body into thinking…

Yes, I think you're right. I'm a stickler at desiring my BGs to be in the 80s.. Sometimes I wonder if I should just settle for the low 100s... perhaps no more than 110.

Yes! This is definitely my goal! 20 pounds in 2 months? Definitely! But.. I really need support!!! I've already lost 27 pounds in the last 7 weeks on a very low carb diet. Didn't lose anything last week, though, so I think my body was getting used to it. But, I'll give it the old college try!

whey protein (GNC has 0-carb), legumes, nuts, seeds, cottage cheese

Definitely. I'm 45 and could use the support and encouragement. I'm also a diabetic, so for me.. losing weight is life and death! Feel free to add me, Anybody! :)

No, it's not too low.. you checked your blood sugar Four hours later.. you have basically returned to normal (if a tad low.. 70 to 110 is good, 83 is best) and are ready to eat again. You should check your blood sugar 2 hours after a meal. If you digest quickly, then 1 hour and a half.. You need to figure out when your…

Definitely add me!!! And ANYONE who is on KETO! I feel like a lone wolf on here.. only one other who does keto.

Yes! Count me in! I want to lose 50 lbs. by May, as well (daughter graduating from college).

White Stevia doesn't have such a bad aftertaste as green or brown stevia.

I've been on a low carb diet for just over a month and have lost 24 pounds.. I went on this diet because I was diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic with my blood sugar in the 300s.. My blood sugar is now absolutely normal, usually in the 80s and 90s. I really had no idea that I would lose weight on this diet, I did it for the…

An A1C of 7 is an average BG of 172. No way is that acceptable. But most doctors are trained to think so (this is beginning to change). This is your health, your life, your future, and you need to take control of it. There is an argument that diabetics are entitled to the same BGs as a nondiabetic person--Entitled. That…

Hahaha! This is exactly what happened to me. I caused such an uproar at the hospital, I was shocked and mortified when my doctors loved my blood sugar numbers.. "better than a healthy teen!" they said. But then, when they found out I was on a low carb diet, everything changed... A month later, when they saw that I lost 23…

I have diabetes, which, as my doctors explained it, is essentially an 'allergy' to carbohydrates (especially fast acting high glycemic carbohydrates). So, my diet has to be very low in carbs in order for me to survive. Bread is just such a High glycemic index carbohydrate, whether gluten free or not.. It turns into glucose…

this^^ .. Heavy whipping cream. It's sugarless, it's carb-free, and you don't need much.

No such thing as carb levels according to the FDA. Some doctors say no more than 100 grams, others 75, still others 175.

It sounds like a growth spurt. You stated on your profile that you still have 6 years to grow. If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? On the other note, it sounds like you are seriously craving carbs, which means you are craving energy. Increase your intake of protein.... have a homemade hamburger with everything…

Three weeks ago I cut out all grains from my diet because I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and my scale hadn't moved for FIVE months, even on a faithful 1200 calorie diet with exercise. Here I am, 3 weeks later... my blood sugar is in the 70s and 80s (It used to be in the 300s, and normal is 70 to 110, and will soon…

You are eating way too many carbs. Drop your carbs to under 100 grams and eat more protein and fat. Some people's bodies react badly to carbs.
