Then I'll go with high school Science teacher.

^^This^^ It's not shallow to have a preference. It IS shallow to find someone attractive and then choose not to ask them out because of what others my think of them.

Not anymore. I retired from that 10 years ago. I'm a professional paper pusher/office cubicle slob. Going back to school soon for project management, though. I'll be cool one day. :flowerforyou: Carreen - software developer?

No, but I think that'd be a fun job. Dreamerryu27 - Veternarian

If you're exercising that much, it may be that you put on weight from muscle gain.

I'm with you. I'd be contacting the Practice Manager via a letter to let him/her know your concerns. Include what was said to you, what you believe to be true, and your sources for that belief. Make sure that you send a written letter rather than call, so that that way you have documentation that the conversation took…

Beautiful! You look absolutely stunning. Well done, you! Keep up whatever it is that you're doing.

I'm sorry that you feel that I'm judging you. I'm merely offering you another way to look at it.

I'm not saying that you're doing anything wrong or in anyway trying to imply that your kids will be hurt by eating mac and cheese. They won't. I was raised on it and didn't have a weight problem until my fourth kid was born and I got sick. I'm only telling you what worked for me and my kids. And yes, my 2 and 3 year olds…

I'm definitely a grazer. I'd rather eat little bits all day. Like kate said, that begins to add up quickly. So, I've taken to planning my meals out on MFP to make sure I have the right amount of calories and the right kinds of calories throughout the day. When I pack my lunch for work, I bring everything for the day but…

I'm the beer drinker in my house, while my husband prefers a cold hard cider. I'll also have whiskey, bourbon, mojitos, daiquiris, and yes, even wine. I'm a brewer, so it only makes sense that I should drink my own stuff. For those who feel that a woman drinking beer is "unwomanly", get a grip. It's no more unwomanly than…

When my kids were little like that and I started changing my diet to more healthy types of foods, I included the kids in it. I didn't make separate meals for them, rather they ate what I ate. (As did my ex-husband, much to his chagrin.) The only differences I would make was to make them a sandwich with two pieces of whole…

Guilty, too. :blushing: :blushing:

It would be nice if the House, the Senate, and the President could all play well together and pass a law that benefits everyone, but that seems impossible these days. I'll take what I can get for now.

I would happily pay more in taxes if it meant that everyone could get good healthcare that they can afford without losing everything due to illness. It's worth it to me because I am part of this community, and the entire community is important to me. I'm sorry you don't feel the same.

Honestly, those have already been in affect for years. This just means now it's sanctioned.

Not rare at all. It's an automatic denial with my company. Of course acne treated with medication is an automatic denial with some companies. (No joke. I see the denial letters all too often.)

I work for a health insurance company processing our state's version of the Federally mandated total coverage for the uninsurable. Per the Supreme Court's recently upheld Healthcare Bill, it is required that each state mandate coverage for those that a regular insurance company won't insure. There are any number of…

That's awesome! You have every right to be proud! I'm a beginner, too. Just finished Week 3 of the Couch to 5K again. (I'm doing each week twice. I have asthma, hypertension, and pre-diabetes so I want to make sure my body is really ready for the next step before I try it.) For now, I'm run/walking 3 x a week, doing…

I think what you should take away from this is that a low-carb diet works for some, but isn't necessary for all. So long as you're eating healthy, it's a sustainable diet, and you're losing weight, do what you want.

It seems like there was some miscommunication and now everyone is going to have to shift things around a bit to make it all work out. I don't consider it immature or childish of either of you to want to keep to the original plans as you understood them. Unfortunately, it won't work to do that, so there has to be some form…

I've read the same stuff. I'm insulin resistant (also often called pre-diabetic) and hypertensive. The research that I've done says that a lower-carb/lower fat/higher protein diet is the way to go to help both issues. (I remember reading PCOS in there, too.) That doesn't mean NO carbs, only fewer simple carbs (sugar, high…

Bump!

I realize that I'm new and everything, but this just doesn't seem sustainable for anyone. I'm not sure I'd try to follow these suggestions. Low carb/high protein and weight training sounds like your best option. Good luck!

You look incredible! Well done, you! Can't wait to see more.

I think I  you. You've nailed it. And that's why it's all trial and error, too. You have to figure out your own body, how it reacts, and where it's most efficient, etc. You're brilliant!

This is the most important thing that I've learned from this thread, I think. There is a lot of conflicting information out there, and the only way to know which one works for you is to try it. On top of that, you really have to give each change a little time to work. The experts here on MFP are brilliant, and I appreciate…
