 Love it!

Not really the case, since there are very large people with very large hips and smaller waists. Doesn't make them less fat. It's just that those with an apple shape have more dangerous fat.

Your son in wise in these things.

Pancakes by themselves aren't high-calorie foods. It's the crap that gets put on top that's awful. That being said, I love buckwheat pancakes. I found this recipe on USAweekend.com: Blueberry Buckwheat Pancakes • ¾ cup buckwheat flour • ¾ cup whole-grain pastry flour or whole-wheat flour • 1½ tsps. baking powder • ½ tsp.…

Hi there! Welcome back! Hopefully, you'll find things a little easier to stick with this time around, though with your schedule I can see how hard it can be. Anyway, feel free to add me if you'd like new friends.

Hiya, Dean. Sounds like you've got a handle on things. Welcome to MFP!

Welcome to MFP! Feel free to add me as a friend. Though, I'll warn you. I don't limit my diet. I eat what I want, I just do it smartly by watching portion sizes and daily/weekly calories. So far, I've lost 25 pounds this way, so it works for me. As long as you're not starving yourself, I'll be more than happy to support…

Welcome! And good luck.

That's awesome! I love this idea!

When I go to a restaurant, I ask for a box before my meal comes. Then, when my meal gets there, I immediately take 2/3 of it and put it in the box. Ta-da! Instant portion control! As for the work situation, that's harder. There's almost an obligation to "try" everything people bring in. Best thing you can do is to make…

Welcome back.

I think that the best thing you can do for her is to continue doing what you're doing, make better choices while grocery shopping and cooking, and encourage her to exercise with you. Whether she's logging or not, if she's eating better and moving more, she'll end up losing weight.
-
What this man said. By the way, you can still exercise with a bum knee, if you really feel like you should be doing something. Just do upper-body work while you heal.

My great-grandfather was Welsh. Does that count? :flowerforyou: Yeah, didn't think so. :frown:
-
Thanks, everyone! This is incredibly helpful.

No kidding.

Dude, get over yourself. No one here is stupid. We've all been well educated on how the body works. We're not new around here. For the affects to take place that you're talking about, you have to already have a large store of body fat AND you have to have an excess of sugar in your system all at once for an extended length…
-
Maybe you should re-read your posts to figure out how you may have sounded that way.
-
 My body fat is actually within normal limits for a woman now. I haven't updated my profile in ages. And yes, I ate food of all kinds while I got down to less than 30% bodyfat. I'll continue to do so while I contine on to my goal. And guess what? (This is really going to blow your mind.) I'm going to CONTINUE to eat…

Actually, the fat is more likely to stay off if you choose a lifestyle that works for you. So, if this is what works for Wendy, then it's what's going to stick for her. If she tried your way of doing things, it wouldn't stick so she'd end up back where she began. If you tried her path, you'd obviously **** it up and end up…
-
Reading comprehension wasn't one of your stronger studies, was it, big man?
-
Wow. What the hell is wrong with you? Arrogant d!ck, much? The woman just said that she has SLOWED her weight loss down because it was going too quickly for her liking. Again, people do things their own way. Get over yourself.
-
Um, how about you let her figure out for herself what works for her, and you stick to what works for you? She's a grown up, and she knows her lifestyle, body, and life far better than you do. It's kind of her business how she goes about living it.

Same here, on the date and the short straw. My husband has been a student almost as long as we've been married, and this is the LAST semester that he'll have a final on or around my birthday. Next year, he better spoil me rotten. Happy birthday, fellow Sags, and to our neighboring Capricorns!!! May your season…
-
Hope your birthday is as kick *kitten* as you are!
-
So you've buy a chicken farm? Awesome!

I forgot the what I'd do with my time thing. First five years: Travel the world Build houses in Oregon, Wales, and New Hampshire Buy cars Learn to fly a plane Second five years: Go back to school - MBA Set up charity with board Travel Next 10 years: Run charity Travel often
-
I'd tuck away a mil a year to live on, and use the rest in the Bill Gates way. In fact, chances are I'd try to contact them to ask them how best to set up a charity like theirs. Another option would be to set up a series of secular private schools in poor areas for kids to get a better chance at a good education.

Happy holidays, everyone!

My Personal Experience: In 1996, I was 25 pounds overweight, and in significant pain in my abdomen. I had recently given birth (via C-section) to my third child in 19 months, and had really not gotten better after the C-section. When I went to my doctor, I mentioned that I had a history of ovarian cysts and that's what it…
