Oh my! I had no idea. It makes sense. Good information. Maybe I will rethink jerky and give it a try the right way. Thank you sljohnson1207.

Wow, so many options out there that I did not know about. Thank all of you for your help and all the good ideas. I now know to be careful what products I try and to research and read about them. I really have a lot to learn. I think that I need to stay with the basic whole foods and give my body time to adjust before…

Lesson learned! I am so glad that I found this group. Great advice and understanding. deansdad, I did not look at the ingredients, Pure Shock! I saw net carbs, looked good, easy, boy did I get fooled. Good link you sent me about the Atkins bars. Can you please let me know where to get the xylitol? Is it dry or liquid? I…

I am learning something new every day. Thank you. I do not have any jerky but I like your idea of freezing up some bacon. I love to cook and freeze meals but have not thought about freezing snacks. Great Idea!

I think you may be right about the sugar alcohols. I tell you baconslave, I am a diabetic and my body will not allow me hardly any carbs at all. Only no starch veggies. I do drink diet colas and I wonder about them? Any artificial sweets, candy, protein bars etc. make my sugars higher. So does any kind of fruit. Even…

Hi camtosh, thank you so much for all the help. You are right, you and I do share the same protein and carb counts. Thanks for sharing your diary. It really helps me to see what others are eating. Gives me some ideas. I know that you must be proud of yourself on your weight loss. Good for you!!!! You make me feel better…

Hi, well I went to Walmart and took a second look at the Oscar Myer bacon jerky and it just looks ok. It had a high price also, I think it was about $4.98 and serves only about 1 1/2. I was going to buy a pack but all the packs were outdated. So I am just going to fry me some bacon if I want some. Ha! Ha! I also looked for…

Thank you Tootce01. I am going to look for the Oberto's Bacon Jerky at my Walmart. Hope they have it? I am looking for snack food to use if I need them.

Thank you frob23, I found the bacon jerky in the cold section. (where the sandwich stuff is located, bologna etc.) and as lulalacroix was wondering about the fat, it did have some fat in it. I am going to try it and maybe nuke it a little. It looks good to me, but I will see. I will let both of you know. I am not a big fan…

Wow! Your mother has done Great! She is my hero! I now am ready to go! I am 66 years old and I thought it might be to late for me but after you shared you and your mother's A1C numbers I am in awe. I have 13 stents in my heart and I am still a little worried about the fat but I just have to try the LCHF diet. For years I…

Thank you for the welcome. Yes I have looked at other groups and have joined a few but most are really quiet. I joined Low Carber Daily Forum also and have been going there and they seem to be fairly active. Have you tried them? I know that all the groups have a lot to share in different areas and that is a good thing.…

Hi baconslave, Thanks for sharing this information about your mother. I am so proud of her. Really gives me hope. I am so glad to be in this group. Last time my A1C was checked it was 8.1 and it scared me. Now I know that one day it will be better if I keep my diet up. sickandfat

Thank you deansdad. You are right again. The medical field is not telling us the whole truth. That is why I am so glad to have found this place. I have more hope than I have had in years. Too much medicine and not enough truth. I keep learning new things now each and every day. Yeah! S&F

Oh thank you for telling me that. You give us hope. I have had doctors tell me that once you go on Ins that you cannot go back. I wonder if they mean, as long as you do a low fat diet or a diabetic diet that they want you to use? Most reg. doctors do not think LCHF diet or even offer it and I have heard it too many times…

Metformin (a generic for Glumetza) is the norm medicine when anyone finds out that they are a diabetic. It is the best of most meds for sugar control because it has fewer side effects. I will tell you that it can mess with your stomach, like diarrhea. I had a problem with it, so my encro put me on the name brand Glumetza…

Hi lorib642, Welcome to this group. I too am new here and I have been getting good information from this group. deansdad101 has been very helpful to me. He really knows a lot about LCHF diet. I too am a type 2 diabetic and have other health problems. I know it is scary but the only way I have found to lower my sugars is to…

I sure hope so. I am learning new things every day. I looked at what you eat and was very impressed and it has given me some ideas to try. I read in Woman's World this morning about Thyroid and protein. It says, Why does extra protein help? Folks who get more protein get more of a nutrient called tyrosine, which the body…

You are so right about the Golden Years being BS. Sounds like you and your bried had a great night. Pizza sounds gooddddd!!!! Bad news in headlines everyday! There are bad people out there. How did the ice cream turn out? I see you went a little over in your counts. That's ok, you were having a good time.
-
Yes I agree with you about the protein. I was thinking that I might be eating to much? Well I went to see my doc and found out that I was to see the Dietitian this time and the Doc on 11/7/14. Anyway I took all my MFP diaries and he looked at them and said that I was doing real good. I asked him just what kind of diet that…

You are so right. I do not use Facebook or any social networking. The reason I am reaching out here is to get some sound advice and I too do not go in for silly quotes. I will send you a friend request but I promise not to send you anything but something I learned or anything usefull to share. I am going to think about the…

Thank you so much for the information. I went where you said to go and I chose friends only. Could I be your friend so that you can view my diary? I also went to view the group that you thought I might like and I had also joined them too. I have not posted there yet, at least I don't think so. I am like you I really don't…

Yes, I am lucky to have found a doctor who is trying to help me. A little background about myself. I have Coronary Artery Disease, I have type 2 Diabetes and I have Hypothyoidism. As you can see on my profile, I am 66 years old. My weight at onset of this diet plan was 280.6 lbs., I am 5'10 inches tall. Now as to what lead…

I was doing ok and then my doctor told me to eat more fat and so I started adding real butter, fat meat instead of lean and when I done this, then my calorie count started going up and I only have 1400 calories per day. I am confused about adding more fat instead of protein? I go back to see my doctor this week and maybe…

I have posted and posted on MFP and no one every post back. I think that is rude also. You think that you will get a lot of support, only to find out that people have their own friends and post there only most of the time. Don't give up. There are people out there that hear you.
-
I'm with you. I too think that everyone is asleep. I think that everyone has their own friends and post there. Don't let it keep you from posting here. I do hear you.

Hi, I too am a Type 2 Diabetic and I am going to a weight center in Charlotte, NC and the doctor put me on a LCHP diet. I have to stay at 50 carbs or under a day. I was having high sugar readings when I started this diet and I have been on the diet about a month and my blood sugar readings are much better already. The…

Hi, I too am trying to eat better. Try this the next time you crash. Instead of eating crackers, eat some protein, cheese or tuna or egg what ever protein you like and have a salad. Hopefully this might help you. I am trying to go low carb and as long as I stay away from bad carbs, I don't have the cravings as bad. The…
