Look in the mirror? See those pointy, sharp little teeth at the sides of your mouth? Those are designed for ripping and tearing animal flesh. Yum, meat.

i hate that it doesn't burn more calories.

285lbs x 32.6% bodyfat = 92.91 lbs of fat 253lbs x 30.1% bodyfat = 76.2 lbs of fat So you've lost 16.71 pounds of fat. I'd say that's a pretty good number. :D

Heh. I research everything. I've seen the article you link, as well as many others. No, the accuracy reports don't surprise me - DEXA is *still* much more accurate than calipers, which is what 95% of the folks i talk to use to quantify their bodyfat. We use the same machine each time, and we both hydrate well, so the…

Given that he'd already been working out for 2 years and had lost 60 pounds previous to when we started doing DEXA to track, your logic is flawed. Yes, lean mass includes more than muscle. Have you ever seen a DEXA report? It shows each of the changes. He lost almost 3% bone mass in this time frame, so that wasn't it. And…

My husband and i do DEXA scans to track our progress. Between 8/11 and 3/12, he lost 36.5 pounds. At the same time, he increased his lean mass from 147.1 to 152.1 pounds. His fat mass changed from 99.1 pounds to 58.9 pounds. So yes, it can be done. But it's hard work.

Yup, mine are real.

I'm pretty partial to Eric as far as characters go, but Alcide is proper eye candy.

I'd rather weigh 150 with definition and be in a size 6 than weigh 120, look soft and still be in a size 10. YMMV

Um... calories from fat are based on the number of grams of fat. 10grams of fat is 90 calories, whether it is meat or vegetable based.

RnY works, but most folks have problems with malabsorption and have to take megavitamins, and i've heard that the body adapts after a couple of years, which can result in weight gain. I can speak from personal experience with the gastric band, and i don't recommend it. Mine had to come out in an emergency procedure less…

I like PB2. It is powered peanuts with the oil removed. You can reconstitute it with water, and it has a lot less fat than regular peanut butter. It *does* have a little salt and sugar added, but the stats when compared to regular peanut butter are still really good. I like to put it in my chocolate protein shakes made…

Doesn't a standard olympic bar weigh 45 pounds? And there are benefits to using different bits of equipment. There are times when you want a solid bar, even if you can do the same weight/movement with a set of dumbbells. I think what the OP is really feeling is what many women do - that they are a bother in the weight…

cool plan! are your arms tired yet?

I don't generally log cleaning, but i *do* find it odd that my bodymedia registers a higher calorie burn on the days that i change the linens and clean the floors than it does for my regular 2 hour weight training sessions.

I love it with fruit, especially pineapple.

That's great! Keep up what you're doing, cuz feeling great is the best!

I met my husband when i was 25. I'm now 43, and in better shape than i've been since we met. I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer about 18 months ago. I feel awesome, i look so much better - and my hubby is enjoying the benefits. :D

Planks, stability ball crunches, squats - these are things you can do at home. As everyone else has said, you're going to have to cut bodyfat for them to be really visible, but exercise will make them strong and give you a solid core.

I hate ketchup. It's a waste of a good tomato.

I didn't drink alcohol much when i was fat, and i don't drink it now that i'm almost to goal. i don't enjoy it.

"Mind your own business" springs to mind. But i'm cranky today.

Also make sure you are taking in plenty of fluids, especially water. Exercise is going to deplete you, and you need quite a bit to keep up your milk supply.

What counts as "heavy" for you would not be the same as "heavy" for someone else. I've been lifting heavy for about a year now, and when i started - i wouldn't consider those weights as heavy now. It also depends on what body part you are working. I can bench a lot more than i can use for frontal/lateral shoulder lifts. As…

If you cut all the bad stuff you can drink out, and replace it with water, after a while you'll find that you no longer crave the sugary stuff. I used to drink 3-4 sodas a day, and i haven't had one in over a year now. When i take an occasional sip, a can't remember why i used to drink them. Too sweet! I like to put fresh…

I have lost almost 60 pounds, but it took 1.5 years to do it. i upped my protein, cut my carbs way back except for one day a week, when i allow myself more. Increased water intake, and i work out about 15 hours a week. That include 9 hours of weight training, and the rest cardio. i've recently started doing intervals on my…

My thoughts? Could they possibly have crammed in more cliches or recycled situations? It was pretty ridiculous. I think the show needs to call it quits if the writers can't come up with anything fresh.

We both do. After 18 years, we're still as hot for each other as we were when we met in college. :D

I am 43. Diagnosed with thyroid nodules about 5 years ago during an MRI to check for MS lesions. Started on synthroid to shrink the nodules (turned out there were 3 of them), which worked for about 6 months, then one continued growing. Dosage was adjusted, growth continued. Had 3 biopsies; 2 inconclusive, 1 suspicious.…
