  • I started kickboxing at my local YMCA last month. My class is a mix of kickboxing, glute and core workouts. My first class at the beginning of April had 4 people in it. As of last week our class has grown to about 15 and hopefully more soon. Unfortunately the class is only once a week but it's enough of a workout that you…
  • I completed a full time Masters Program while working full time in October 2012. If you need any suggestions or an ear to listen to please feel free to send me a message! It's not always easy to do but it's totally worth the hard work and dedication.
  • I could not agree more. I love Xbox fitness on my One. It was totally worth the money for the new console.
  • If you have an Xbox (360 or a One I believe), try the fitness app there. It's got all kinds of workouts from P90X to Jillian Michaels and Insanity. I've tried them before but decided to stick with my P90X and weekly kickboxing classes.
  • You have to know why you're doing it. For example, I'm here because I want to do what I can to avoid the health problems that run in my family from being overweight. For me "to lose weight" wasn't good enough. Take it one day at a time and surround yourself with people who support you and cheer you on. I'm 58 days in and…
  • Agree completely.
  • I work in the retail grocery industry... Granted I work with Fresh Fruits and Vegetables everyday, my department is directly beside the bakery department who has cakes, cookies, and all of the goodies you can imagine all the time. I can't count how many times I've come to work and had this stuff sitting on my desk. Plus…
  • I LOVE angel food cake. I have a recipe where you layer angel food cake, strawberries and cool whip and then let it chill. I use all sugar free ingredients (except for the strawberries of course). It's quite delicious! I bet you could possibly drizzle chocolate over it too. You can add blueberries if you want also! It's…
  • I used to get the same way too. It took about a week of really sticking to no sugary drinks and things to kick my habit. I haven't had any caffeine or soda in about 3 months and I feel a lot better. I don't get migraines and that run down feeling anymore. It probably isn't the sugar that is doing it to you but the…
  • I have never touched the water in the pacific ocean. (I stood on the beach but my husband wouldn't go to the water.. he didn't want to get sand in his shoes, lol).
  • I agree with everyone here. Start small and work your way up. I tried to do too much at first and found myself not feeling the best. I toned it back and I've started to see the weight come off more evenly. I'm still working on the diet thing but I exercise regularly and even do a weekly kickboxing class. I'm even looking…
  • If you want something that works to track swims, take a look at the Speedo website or any of the competitive companies. They usually have stuff that will work. I used to swim competitively and we were always using the clocks and lap counters and things like that. Also if you write out what you're going to do, you can keep…
  • I always make myself and extra chicken breast and rice when I do that for dinner because it gets me usually 3 lunches out of it (I only eat half a chicken breast because they're normally huge). It works out great because I'm not taking any extra time to make it. You could also try making soups on the weekend and freezing…
  • Protein defnitely. If you look at the nutrition and click on the pie chart, there is a 50% carb, 30% fat and 20% protein breakdown. It's a default for MFP but that's what I try to follow. Sweet (in moderation of course) work for me, but I also do P90x so it allows me to have a little more flexibility with what I eat.
  • My weakness is honeybuns so I feel you with the bag of chips and beer!
  • Lemon pepper is wonderful on fish!
  • I use a fitbit one. I don't like the wrist trackers at all. I've found that I remember the fitbit best if I keep it somewhere near me and it's actually pretty accurate. I've heard the bands for your wrist tend to unclasp and fall off. The app with the fitbit is pretty easy to use too and I like that I can track my sleep…
  • Good things come to those who work their *kitten* off and never give up!
  • Way to go! Keep up the good work!
  • Fair to Midland - Musical Chairs, one of my favorite songs!
  • There are lotions and things that claim they help if you're really worried about it but I don't know how they work. I've also seen that a combination of a healthy diet, exercise, using an exfoliator and wearing slimming workout gear can help. Granted I'm not sure how true it really is, it could be worth a shot. I've got it…
  • I guess I should have elaborated on what I thought a "stick girl" is so my apologies I'm referring to the females who are so skinny they look under weight and unhealthy because they think they're fat. That is a stick girl to me. There is nothing wrong with being skinny, lean and in shape at all. It also doesn't help that I…
  • I'm curvy as well and can't complain. I hate seeing people that think curves = fat... It doesn't at all. My husband prefers my curvy self rather than a stick girl. I just could be a more in shape, define curvy girl because we all know that hips can only shrink so far! Stick girls look unhealthy to me. There's got to be a…
  • skinnytaste.com is awesome!
  • I have to agree with you on that one. I cancelled my membership there about a year ago and switched the the YMCA (since they have a gym, pool and group classes). Planet fitness always seemed to be people who didn't know what they were doing and I found that a lot of the time they were just taking up space rather than using…
  • Candy crush became my enemy! I got so frustrated with it that I uninstalled it and refuse to play anymore. I snowboard too and ride a K2! I buy them big for me though because I've been doing it for awhile, except last year... I had a disagreement with the snow and managed to give myself a black eye and a concussion while…
  • I'm right there with you! I met my now husband playing Xbox (Call of Duty, MW2 if I remember correctly). Sitting in an office all day and playing video games in the evening has been a disaster for me and I finally found the motivation I needed to get moving. I just started as well so I wish you the best of luck on your…
