Ohhh, do I have the same problem. Portion control doesn't work for me. If the food is there, I want to eat it. All. So what I end up doing is not buying very much junk food, and changing into pajamas or something when I get home so I'm not tempted to go back out and get some. I also love to bake, so I end up making a batch…

Hi there! Feel free to add me. I've logged in every day for about 6 months or so and could use some motivating support as well. :)

It's not awful at all--you aren't used to working out and it will take a while to get there. At the start I only did about 10 minutes at 2.5mph on the treadmill. I understand the desire for wanting to get fit quickly; you will see the pounds drop pretty fast at the start, so that should be encouraging. What I would do is…

I use mine for shredding meat, doing quick chopping of things like herbs and veggies, shredding potatoes, shredding carrots, shredding cheese... the list goes on! I'd take a look at your blade attachments and read through what they can be used for, and then you have a good starting point to get creative. The last time I…

I absolutely HATED Topamax. It controlled my migraines but it completely messed up my brain. I couldn't think of words, I would space out in the middle of sentences and not remember what I was saying, I couldn't write coherently--I'm a grad student and I basically lost 75% of my productivity. I felt awful. I've been off…

Vitamin Water Zero isn't bad. I don't have any rules either. I guess if I had one, it would be that I push myself to be mindful about each of my eating and exercise choices.

I haven't eliminated a single food group and I've lost 23 pounds so far. I try not to eat too many carbs, because I'm a Type 1 diabetic, but I still eat an average amount of carbs. I really, really like bread, pasta, etc., so for me, "trying not to eat too many carbs" means just not letting myself go crazy. I think…

I started MFP in May, so 5 months ago... Since then I've had about 3 cheat days, total. I have a lot of health issues and sometimes, there are just days where I'm going to have the damn whipped cream because that's my reward for even getting out of bed in the morning. But like someone else said: I don't take it to 10,000…

Congratulations on starting your journey! If you'd like to add me, I'd be more than glad to be friends & offer support. :) It's a really wonderful thing you're doing, for both you and your sister.

1. What did you have for breakfast? A Fiber One bar and a soy cappuccino. 2. How much water do you drink per day? I average around 4-5 glasses but I've been getting better. 3. What are your favorite snacks? Fruit, Fiber One bars, Goldfish crackers. 4. How many calories do you eat per day? Around 1400 usually. 5. What do…

Don't feel like going through the original thread, but was surprised there isn't another Kristen on this thread! I'm sure there are plenty of people named Kristin, Christian, Christina, Christine, Krista, Christy, Crystal, etc., who just cringe seeing my name... Apparently it's a hard one to get right!

Congratulations on taking the first step! That's huge. I too struggled at first; it was shocking to realize just how much I really did eat, and how much food occupied parts of my life. Others have suggested writing down what you plan to eat, and that works really well for some people. I also recommend two other…

Holy cow, you look amazing! Congrats!

As a Type 1 diabetic, I can tell you that's not the case--at least with me. My BG rises when I'm eating along WITH the diet soda, but if I have a diet soda on its own there's no effect on my BG.

Hey, sorry for such a late reply! I'm glad I could help. :) Best of luck!!

I have only lost 19 pounds... BUT: * I'm actually going to the gym, getting on the treadmill, and challenging myself more every day. I used to be embarrassed to go to the gym but now I feel invigorated by it. * I bought a medium shirt (rather than the extra larges I was wearing) and fit into it! I'm usually a large, but…

Baby carrots, celery sticks, grapes, apples, bananas... I like Goldfish crackers for a quick snack; they're not the healthiest thing in the world but I'm realistic about my salt cravings and I measure out serving sizes. If you don't have strong willpower then you might want to buy pre-packaged serving sizes, like 100…

It might be more difficult to lose weight when you have particular medical conditions but it certainly is NOT impossible. I have more chronic conditions than I can count on both hands but I'm successfully losing weight--16 lbs. so far--by eating better and exercising more. My progress is much slower than my healthy husband…
