It seems that when I hit 40 I started gaining slowly. I weighed 123 lbs when I got pregnant with my youngest son (and people told me I needed to gain weight.) He's now 12 1/2. I got back down to around 128 after he was born and with very little effort. I was 34 then. I was around 130 when I turned 40 and over the next 5…

Unfortunately there are just some people who aren't happy unless they're making others unhappy. "Misery loves company," they always say. The *kitten* was obviously one of the miserable people in the world. Far too many of them around. I agree that Karma will prevail.

I have two large dogs (you can see them in my picture). My 88 lb brown boy, Max, sleeps on the floor right next to me at night. Oliver, my 70 lb white and black pup sleeps on my feet most of the time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pets are like our children - a part of our families. They are so special. We had to have our sweet dog put down over 5 years ago. Though we now have two other dogs, I still get teary when I look at a picture of Bandit. He was 14. About a week after Bandit's death, the vet sent us this poem:…

You can add me! I'm also 46 and have three kids. :)

I'm sorry this happened. I'm also a teacher. Some people aren't happy unless they're making others miserable. It's not easy to rise above it. I only teach second graders, so they don't evaluate me (thank goodness). Don't go starve yourself - the little snot isn't worth it. Keep doing what you've been doing. You've been…

Thank you, everyone, for your responses! It's nice to know it's not just me and others have had the same experience. I think I do have a problem handling PM cravings. While I can't completely deprive myself (I'm not diabetic, but I do have blood sugar issues) I need to think about what I have for that snack - good carbs…

I was also thinner when I was younger. I hit 40 and the weight started creeping on. I've gained 20-25 lbs (not sure, I never weighed myself when I was younger) over the last 5 or 6 years and I want to lose that.

I'm new to the whole idea of weight loss. My metabolism hit a wall when I hit 40 and I started gaining. It took me by surprise, though it took me a little while to realize what was going on. Me? Gaining weight? It couldn't be. It had never been a problem before. I thought about losing, but really had no motivation. Now…

I'm 5'4" and would like to get back to 130. For a long time I was at 120-125, then I had my third child and stayed at 130 for about 7 years. He's 12 now, and I started gaining slowly about 5 years ago. I know I'd feel much better if I were around 130 again.

You can add me, too. :)

I also just joined the group today. My youngest is 12 and rather than baby weight, my metabolism seemed to stop completely on my 40th birthday and I've put on weight steadily since then.

Hi! I'm 45 and a mother of three boys ages 12-16. I teach elementary school. It seems when I hit 40 I started gaining. I'm not what you'd call "fat" or "obese", so people look at me strangely when I say I want to lose 20 lbs. I just want to get back to where I used to be. The BMI charts say I'm right on the borderline of…

Hi, Jo! I'm Pam. I'm 45 and have three boys ages 12-16. I want to lose about 20 pounds. I just really started trying this week. It's tough, because I love to cook!
