The above is very, very true.

Seriously, I'm an idiot today. I was thinking of RHR. DUH. Ok, stepping away from the screen... :)

So, basically, absolutely no-one's mind was changed by this article. The people who were pro-fat milk remained so, and the people who were pro-skim remained so also. There was some yelling in the topic title, however, which just reminded me of Vanilla Ice, whose moniker doesn't seem ENTIRELY off topic. STOP, COLLABORATE…

You CAN do it yourself, but you'd need a good heart rate monitor which would probably run you 50 bucks anyway...

First of all, RIGHT ON. I love posts like this. I actually am a PT now, but when I first started lifting, I had the same issues. I still encounter lots of new exercises, and what I usually do is look them up on YouTube if I need to see it done (repeatedly). Right now I'm learning a bit about functional training, so I can…

I've learned, that at least for me, replacing sugar with sugar substitutes only makes things worse. Also, I've learned that the more sugar I eat, the more I want. I only drink diet sodas on the weekend, as a treat, and I stopped putting splenda in my tea. Also, the more I cook, and the more natural my foods are (I mean, as…

I've heard endless good stuff about these, I'll probably get some at some point: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fat-Gripz/dp/B003TODTQG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347640950&sr=8-1

Just wanted to let people know I am always here to help out people new to fitness/wellness/exercise - I know how daunting it can be! Feel free to add me :)

When my legs are feeling particularly wrecked, I might do low impact aerobics, a belly dancing video, pilates- something to let me rest but still help flush the lactic acid out of my system. I haven't had a car for years so I end up walking about an hour a day at least anyway- that seems to help, too.

I live in the UK, but I'm from the US- I always loved Trader Joe's. Is it still a good grocery store?

Agreed, I believe that the more you cross train (a reasonable amount) the less likely you are setting yourself up for injury, and also, the less likely you are to get bored!

Oh, and muscle needs 24-48 hours to recover. You can work out even if you're sore, but don't if you're experiencing joint, bone, or nerve pain.
-
Ok, The American College of Sports Medicine guidelines are to strength train 2-3 times a week for healthy individuals. The cardiovascular guidelines from ACSM are at least 3-5 times a week. You're doing fine doing some form of exercise almost daily, but you should take a rest day once a week, or more if you feel you need…

Dancing! All night!

It is a shame that so often the people who are supposed to help can be a trigger for the very things people would want to work through :/ If you're feeling better- then awesome! I think that's what everyone here would like to hear :)

However, I do not think that it is fair for people to tell me to take my opinions elsewhere, as I would hope this is a place where we can discuss our opinions. Should it only be if I completely agree with the OP or the following posters that I should be able to contribute to the thread? I would think that as long as I am…

, I don't see any reason to be offended by this, I said nothing about going and getting medicated. I was merely suggesting that the issues here are far beyond the scope of an internet forum. I stand by that, and I apologize if it came off any other way. I know how professionals can be, and what they can try to prescribe…

That's odd, we didn't pay for the page at all- I think it is the charity that does that...
-
I'm surprised that in 5 pages of comments, no one mentioned that maybe the OP should possibly seek someone to talk to besides people on a message board for some of the comments posted. I didn't use the quote system as I have the thread open in another tab: "How do you know? I only have pics of my face on this site for a…

Well, a good way to combine fitness and charity would be to do a charity walk! My husband is doing a half-marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK at the end of the month, and he's using the justgiving.com website - it has worked really well for him. Good luck!!!

Push-ups, squats, tricep dips, plank, one-armed plank, lunges, tons of different Pilates exercises, bridging... Youtube has tons of body weight workouts, and there are lots of sites with exercise suggestions :)

There are tons of body weights workouts and exercise resources online. Just Google and look at YouTube. The lucky thing is, most of them will have progressions and regressions that you can do at any level. Pushups and Squats are fantastic, no matter what your level is. Someone mentioned that you have age on your side- this…

So true, and not just psychologically! I know I've messed up my metabolism in countless unnecessary ways by messing around with fad diets rather than listening to what my body was really asking for- sensible exercise and cleaner eating. Congrats on doing it without sacrificing your overall health goals, and bonus points…

I doubt that would have held me back, but thanks for the tip!

Shaving my armpits became harder once I had more 'pits' that weren't just filled out with fat! I'll take it, though :) I also dropped a shoe size. We won't even discuss my chest though :/

It was on my 25th birthday. I was at a party, dancing with a young man (god, he must have been about 18, lol ;) ) and my knee went out. Embarrassingly, he thought I was just really drunk and walked away, and I didn't even realize the full extent of it until the next day, as it had popped back into place. I went to the…

I sent you that link on bodyweight exercises you can do. Really, the trick is not to think about it too much, and just make sure you're moving. I liked someone's suggestion of checking out dvds at your local library- the internet is also a great resource too- YouTube has TONS of videos of workouts- some up to an hour in…

Missy, canned fruit tends to be packed in corn syrup- I'd avoid it. I see your point though- what about frozen? That could be a good option.
-
Looking at your diary, the answers seems fairly straightforward- more fruit and vegetables.

Do what you can, and what you enjoy for now. Once you get to know exercise, and your body, a bit better, you'll discover what you're into and what is best for you. My one suggestion for EVERYONE who is able is to do some form of resistance training along with whatever walking, Zumba, marathon running, dog-sledding-…
