As someone who has put up with an obnoxious amount of vegan soap-boxing lately, I salute you, sir! :drinker: I agree that people need to put more thought into the welfare of the animals that provide us with food, as well as the negative secondary effects, such as the overuse of antibiotics, contributing to the rise of…

Well, it was 3 in the morning. And I mean that to be understanding, not snarky. Which is rare, but there you go.

Actually, you can already fly! Just get way high up and jump. You will find that you are flying. Straight down for a very short time. ::Neil Patrick Harris swoon::

I just want to add a disclaimer here that my endorsement of drinking milk does NOT apply to raw milk, which poses a much greater health risk due to the potential presence of harmful microbes, such as listeria. While it is true that skimming milk reduces the nutrients provided, the same cannot be said of pasteurization,…

If you don't want a cooler, you could do the frozen water bottle trick. Take a bottle of water. Pour some of it out so it doesn't explode, and put it in the freezer. Then, when you pack your lunch, include the water bottle. It will keep the food chilled AND you get water to go with it! But I've basically found that fruits…

The argument isn't that eating sugar will raise your blood sugar levels. That's obvious. Your argument is that high blood sugar levels cause the body to store extra fat, so that eating foods that cause blood sugar to spike will cause weight gain relative to the same calories of a lower glycemic index food. Which not only…

Information from a dot-com website doesn't count. Try bringing information from medical and science journals (preferably meta-analyses).

I usually split my exercise calories between the day of and the day after when I have a huge burn. My stomach is less confused that way. I note the extra cals in my diary so that I know how many extra I should eat.

Herbivores don't wonder about their cholesterol levels either. Also, you seem to be implying that men are designed to be herbivores while women are designed to be omnivores because we have "different nutrient needs." Why are these discussions about what humans are "designed" to eat always so asinine?

The real question is why you binged, and what you can do to prevent it from being a regular experience. Based on the forums, the most two common reasons for binges seem to be under-eating and emotional eating. If you are eating too little, you should set more modest weight-loss goals. If you are an emotional eater, then…

You forgot to add that they all impact your weight loss EQUALLY. All else being equal.

Do a Google search for buckwheat pancakes. The buckwheat adds fiber, and it's relatively low in carbs. Of course, then I soak them in maple syrup, so . . .

Okay, obligatory question for the newbie: Are you sure that 1200 calories is all you should be eating? A lot of new people have the tendency to try to lose too much weight at once, so they eat too little. This has some negative side effects, including slowed metabolism, being hungry for no good reason, and loss of lean…

Weight loss isn't linear. You can even expect to gain some weeks. The important thing is that the numbers move down over time. All sorts of things cause weight to fluctuate, including: -changes in exercise regime -changes in the amount of sodium consume -variations in the amount of food in the digestive tract -menstrual…

Because people like you and I are easily amused and will respond to a six-page troll thread just to watch it keep going. This entire discussion is fascinating!

It doesn't seem a bit off to me at all since humans are also the only species capable of digesting milk past infancy. Genetic studies have shown that the loss of lactose intolerance spread along the same pattern as the development of agriculture. In other words, the ability to digest milk is genetically advantageous in a…

Dang. I've never thought that being overweight made someone hideous or disgusting. Getting to a healthy weight takes time. The important thing is to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and to try not to despair. And when you do despair and fall of the wagon, you need to remember how far you've come and just get…

Day 1 goes badly for everyone. Try to get yourself out of the "on a diet" mentality. It will only make you feel hungry and deprived, and result in weight gain when you go off your diet. You will have much better long-term success if you view this as a lifestyle change. I'd recommend eating normally for a week or two, but…

Our schedules sound pretty similar. I have two methods to get exercise in. The first is to choose an activity that is very intense, but doesn't require a lot of time (for example, martial arts class). The second is to walk everywhere I can. I usually burn 3,000-3,500 calories a week this way.

I think that's just where your body stores your fat. I have no flab whatsoever on my legs or my ribs, but I still have belly fat, "bat wings," and a huge butt and upper thighs. Honestly, your best bet is to learn to love the body you have and just continue losing weight.

What's the rush?

Oh, well. What about the test makes you so nervous? Do you always get nervous when driving in the car with someone new? Do you tend to get nervous with exams?

Apparent to whom? Scientists believe that humans developed the ability to drink milk into adulthood because it provided a source of nutrition in times of scarcity, allowing us to transition more easily away from hunting-gathering.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactation#Lactation_without_pregnancy.2C_induced_lactation.2C_relactation Edit: Sorry about hijacking the thread. In any event, I usually go for regular, full fat dairy since I don't like my foods tinkered around with (unless they are superior in deliciousness).

Let's ask it differently - does losing a significant amount of weight by your wedding put you at risk of no longer fitting into your dress?
-
Ha, I know what you mean. My theory is that, if you have to prove to people you are a woman, you put more effort into it.

Well, somehow I missed whatever the question was, but people are giving you real advice here. If you have room for cake, you can have cake. It's all a question of moderation and having overall good nutrition. Because cake isn't the best nutrition, but it is tasty and you can totally make it work.

Arguable. There are plenty of people with penises who dress, live, and identify as women. Just my $0.02.
