Body fat scales just measure electrical impedance. They should really be called "hydration meters". Electricity flows faster through water and muscle than it does though fat, and from there a little calculation gets you an ok esttimate of body fat. I found that if I just push my whole day back a little it helps with the late night snacking. Instead of eating breakfast at home, I eat it at work, around 9 or 10 .. I end up having my dinner around 8-9PM, and the night time snacking has gone way down. Rather than changing what you eat, maybe a small timing adjustment…

I used to eat dinner at around 6 .. nighttime hungry horrors were a big issue for me. Now, I eat dinner at around 8, and its less of an issue.
