  • I prefer at-home workouts for various reasons and I've found that Jari Love is amazing! She actually does scientific testing on all of the exercises in her workouts. Taken from her website, "Measured variables included the percentage of carbohydrates (RER), lactic acid profile, calories (Kcal), ventilation and oxygen…
  • Are you on Living Social/Groupon or the like? If not, sign up - in my area they have discounts on yoga classes all the time. I'm sure it's the same for any area with yoga studios itching to grow.
  • I allow myself to go over my calories on occasion...most of the time it just so happens to be on the weekends. So far I haven't gone over more than twice a week...usually my "rest" day I go over and then one day on the weekends is my routine. But I don't consider that cheating as much as I consider it living my life and…
  • I've heard and read that after working out, it's best to eat something high in carbs (to replenish glycogen) and protein (to replenish amino acids) and low in fat. I actually enjoy eating either a granola bar (my personal favorite is Snackwell's Cinnamon Raisin. 8g of protein, 17g carbs, 3g fiber, and 140 cals) or a fruit…
  • There's also a good product out there called "Blow" and it's a powder-based dry shampoo. You can get it at Ulta for like $20, sprinkle in your hair, brush through, and blow dry it to add body if needed.
  • I use a cleansing conditioner...just actually bought it because it's a new product by L'Oreal (Ever Creme). I also wash my hair with a clarifying shampoo/deep condition it once a week. I find if you work out twice a day and have already washed your hair once that day you're usually good to just blow dry the roots with a…
  • Try a bootcamp class or something of that nature. You'll know she's into getting in shape, plus you're listening to the instructor, so no headphones. And, lots of running...you could catch up to her & strike up a convo. Or you could try chatting before/after the class.
  • My breaking point was when I got a health screening at work, and realized that my scale at home was off by roughly 7lbs. And, that I had gained an inch plus in my waist since I have been dating my boyfriend. Plus, I'm nearing 30, and my metabolism is slowing down. I thought it was time to take control and do something…
  • I'm pretty sure you can still do the 30DS in 30 days. 6 days on, one day off. Pick which day you are "off". I'm currently doing Ripped in 30, but I'm only doing it 4 days a week. I do it Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, plus either 30 minutes of yoga or 30 minutes of kickboxing, plus ~15 minutes of abs. Saturdays I do an hour of…
  • Oh man, if dessert was off limits I'd be in huge trouble! Total depravity = failure, at least for me. It just makes me want it more. So...I've found some super low calorie - and DELICIOUS!! - substitutes. Try Skinny Cow brand...all of their stuff is delicious, from the candy bars to the ice cream sandwiches...and not one…
  • Good job...I started last week! Week 2 began today!
  • I've heard the rule is half your weight in ounces. So if you weigh 150lbs, drinking 75oz (just over 9 glasses) of water a day). If you drink any more than that, I don't see it as being a bad thing. I have read that water intoxication is possible (and saw it on House so obvi it must be true lol) but I'm not certain how much…
  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I agree with the fact that I'm not "cheating"; I'm living my life, and yes, I log everything I eat regardless of the occasion (vacations, holidays, etc). As others have said it helps to see what you're eating in black and white and gives motivation to work off the extra cals consumed.
  • "Look Around" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • My trick is to go to bed wearing the vast majority of my workout clothes (sports bra, tshirt, workout pants) so that all I have to do is put on socks and sneakers (which I keep right by my bed and have to put on anyway to take my puppy out). Also, I keep my workout DVD in the DVD player. I saw something cute on Pinterest…
