  • Melissa, glad to see you wrangled back your Kindle from the kiddo and got your workout in! Nice work! Man, those lil crumb snatchers sure have sticky fingers. My youngest is always making off with stuff. Worse yet, she has learned to climb onto the couch, so even the back of the couch (which until late was piled deep with…
  • I totally see it now! I knew it had to be there! I really should save any important reading for after the kids are sleeping. You think I would have learned this lesson already. :blushing: Thanks for the help Melissa and Girlie! Oh, and Girlie...back extensions on the Swiss ball are a genius idea!! So smart!
  • Yeah, I got wordy on ya! Sorry! I do that sometimes. Ive known my trainer for some time now, she is awesome. Id never be brave enough to do this without her, so Ill happily let her wipe the smirk off my face knowing it means Ill be all the better for it. I read that page on the squats 3 times over and I didnt see…
  • I found 15lbs to be too light. For me, 20lbs was enough to keep me from trying to do a lateral raise and really use the power generated from the hips and legs. I will probably try heavier next go, but concentrating on form and gaining confidence was my number one goal my first time through. As for workout B, BB Romanian…
  • Stinkin' phone! LOL! The YTWL is mostly shoulder and upper back/back of the shoulder. Definitely keep the weight light. Even the book specifies VERY light weights. Also, be mindful of the way your palms/thumbs/wrists are supposed to face. It makes a big difference in the way the movement feels. Looking forward to your…
  • Today was my first Stage 3 workout, but it was a bit of a mish mash. I usually go through each A and B of a new stage with a trainer so I dont kill myself. However, my favoritest trainer wont be available on Thursday! So after a good hard look over the workouts I was more concerned with some of the lifts on B than A. So…
  • Chic, Melissa My daughter's surgery went well. It was a crazy morning (squirrel in the transformer box had surgery completely stalled until the power company could show up and fix it!), but she is resting quietly now. Thank again for your prayers and concern.
  • Call me strange, but I really liked the front squat push press. It was such a powerful move. Challenging for sure, but incredibly awesome to conquer and master. I did like Melissa, I did not roll the bar much. I held it like you would for a front squat, thumbs behind the bar with the rest of your fingers, not wrapping over…
  • I had so much fun with the squats and deadlifts I didnt want Stage 1 to end! Best wishes with Stage 2!
  • Thanks, Chic! Much appreciated! We finally got our go-call. All set for 7:15 Monday morning. So my final weights for Stage 2 are as follows... (e) = each hand so 10(e) is 20lbs total. Workout A Front Squat Push Press 45lbs -->55lbs +10lbs Static Lunge/Rear Foot Elevated 10lbs(e) -->20lbs(e) +10lbs Push Ups - No way to…
  • Just wanted to drop in and say hello! I finished up Stage 2 today, plan on jumping in with Stage 3 on Tuesday next week.
  • Well, Stage 2 is in the books! When the kids go down for a rest Ill post my start/end weights. Too loud and crazy with them up to think numbers! Melissa, Ill be hot on your heels next week if all goes well. I certainly would appreciate the prayers for my daughter. Thank you so much!
  • New Rules Of Lifting For Women
  • That is FREAKING GENIUS!!!! I hope I can remember this come Stage 4 when step ups come back to haunt me again! Thanks, Beeps!
  • I shall never be fond of those evil step ups! No matter how much good they do my butt! I shall always and forever hate them! LOL! I plan on finishing Stage 2 tomorrow (Friday). If my trainer is available to guide me through the first go, Id like to jump right into Stage 3 next week on Tuesday. Of course that is also…
  • Chic - I expect we'll be hearing good news from you soon! Oh, and Im all of 5' 4", so I hear ya on the "short legs only move so fast" bit. You can do it!! Melissa - I totally wanted to give it a go on my last Workout A yesterday, but my eldest (4 years old) woke up sick, so I kept him home from school. I had to wait to hit…
  • NO!! Not the step ups!! Ugh, I hate them with a passion. I completely feel your pain, literally and physically there. Yippeee for saving your ego with something fun! Even with "ultimate fails" at least you can say you accomplished something. And "failure" only means you have lots of room for improvement. Enjoy the journey!
  • Die? Hardly...fall off the treadmill and collapse into tangled heap gasping for air, maybe. Seriously, you can do it. Like the gal above me pointed out, just keep adding a few tenths of a mph on your intervals each time and before you know it, you'll be running 8mph. You'll hardly notice the few tenths though. Give…
  • YES!!! However mine were terrible debilitating ones. The ones that would force me to take out the heavy drugs and put me in bed for remainder of the day. (I was diagnosed with migraines at age 13. Its rare I pull out the heavy drugs, because after so many years of dealing with them, I'm pretty good at heading them off…
  • Congrats!!!!! Your weights rock! Step ups with barbell is super badass!! Go Melissa!! See you on Stage 3 thread!! [/quote] Thanks Amanda & Chic! Step ups with the barbell was actually easier than using the dumbells cuz I wasnt worried about my grip strength. in stage 1 I did 30lb db and that was hard on my arms. switched…
  • I also use the "dread"mill. Its mind-numbing, but by the time I get through everything else I dont want to think too much anymore! I do 1 minute at 8 mph and 2 minutes at 3 mph. For me that translates to an all out sprint and a decent paced walk.
  • Thank you. :o) Its nothing major, we went through the same thing with my son at this age. Hopefully it will go just as smoothly for my daughter. I hear you on the teething. Both of my children had all their teeth, save their two year molars, before their first birthday. Non-stop teething and teething multiples was our norm…
  • Finished 2B3 this morning. Cant believe Ive only got 2 more of each A and B to go and Stage 2 will be in the books. It seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye. Speaking of eyes, I wasnt going to take a break between Stage 2 and Stage 3, but it looks like my youngest (16 months) will be going in for eye surgery on…
  • Melissa, I wear a HRM as well, but my brain just cant seem to hold numbers and add numbers to keep an honest time for rests. A Gymboss is an interval timer and a stopwatch in one. It beeps or vibrates depending on what you have it set to at the moment. I love it. Mine is set to vibrate and clipped to my top. So when I…
  • Currently... Squat 105 Deadlift 115 Both 8 reps X 3 sets 5'4" and 157lbs
  • Finished 2A2 yesterday. It was much smoother than the first go. I moved the first super set with the step ups down to be the very last super set. Made it a much better workout for me. I was able to use good form through all my sets and not have all my energy sapped right out of the gate. I also used my Gymboss for the…
  • Great gains! Im especially jealous of the step ups. They are my nemesis. That Prone Cuban Snatch is a toughie for sure as well. I also agree with you on the lateral flexion work. Im going to do the very last option using the ball and see if that makes any more sense. The other three options just remind me of one of my kids…
  • 2B1 is in the books and I feel like a limp noodle!
  • Not sick at all. At least not to me. My shoulders are already crying for mercy and I cant wait for another go at it! I dont think Ive ever had so much fun "exercising".
